David Koepp Directing Bike Messenger Movie Premium Rush

Bike Messenger

David Koepp, who's probably better known as a screenwriter than a director, has set up his next directing project at Sony. Koepp will helm Premium Rush, a bike messenger action movie, being produced by Gavin Polone (who last worked on Zombieland). The story centers on a New York bike messenger who picks up an envelope at Columbia University to deliver. A dirty cop is desperate to get his hands on the envelope as well, and chases the bike messenger throughout the city. The screenplay was written by Koepp and his frequent collaborator John Kamps. I've got to admit, this sounds like it'll be awesome, I'm already excited to see it.

Monopoly Movie Concept Was Inspired by Alice in Wonderland

Monopoly

Somehow we missed this news yesterday. Or maybe I just didn't want to write about it, you'll see why in just a minute. We've known, for nearly a year now, that Ridley Scott is attached to one day direct a Monopoly movie. Yes, a movie based on a popular board game that doesn't really have a story (well, not a good one at least). But until now, we haven't known how they'd do it, what the story would be. Yesterday, Hero Complex published an article talking with producer Frank Beddor about the Monopoly movie and how he originally pitched the story to Sir Ridley. And it's not that great. Or at least it doesn't sound good on paper. Read on!

Zachary Quinto Might Star in the Indie Dramedy 'Whirligig'

Zachary Quinto

Even though its been only six months since Star Trek first hit theaters, THR is making a big deal out of the fact that Zachary Quinto hasn't lined up a single project following that very big role. Of course, he was still on "Heroes," but everyone thinks he needs more cinematic roles. Well, THR is reporting that Quinto is very loosely attached to a romantic dramedy called Whirligig, a Canadian independent film where he'd play a man who, in a misguided attempt to woo an older woman, befriends the woman's adopted son. Shooting is set to start early next year, but they're unsure if everything will work out because Quinto is very selective.

Mad Men Writer Marti Noxon Writing New Fright Night Remake

Fright Night

DreamWorks has hired "Mad Men" writer/producer Marti Noxon to pen their remake of the classic 1985 horror comedy Fright Night. Producers Michael De Luca (Brothers, 21), Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig originally brought the project to the studio back in May. And before working on "Mad Men," Noxon also wrote and produced on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" as well. In the original Fright Night, which was written and directed by Tom Holland, William Ragsdale played a teenager who discovers his neighbors are vampires. The remake will keep the comedy-horror tone while modernizing the effects.

Official Extraordinary Measures Trailer with Harrison Ford

Extraordinary Measures Trailer

I never in my life wanted to ever see one of my very favorite actors, Harrison Ford, paired up with one of today's worst actors, Brendan Fraser, but Hollywood made it happen. And the result, well, it's not that great. CBS Films has debuted the trailer for Extraordinary Measures today starring Ford and Fraser, as well as Keri Russell, in a heartfelt drama about a father's quest to save the lives of his two children. It looks like a very heartwarming story, but kind of like My Sister's Keeper, I don't really have any interest in seeing it. I'm not even sure why, but if it gets some great reviews, I may end up checking it out. What about you?

Rumor: Zemeckis Following Christmas Carol with The Nutcracker

Nutcrackers

Robert Zemeckis' latest CGI feature, A Christmas Carol, is currently playing and seems to be bringing in the cash, as expected. Whereas Zemeckis used to be an amazing filmmaker, he's now become our bi-yearly deliverer of a fantastical 3D CGI version of some beloved holiday story. First it was The Polar Express, this year it's A Christmas Carol, so what's up next after that? Pajiba claims that Zemeckis will eventually be adapting The Nutcracker as well, but it's not clear if that'll come before or after he remakes The Beatles' Yellow Submarine. Whatever the case, I'm not excited, despite my love for these wonderful holiday stories.

Check This Out: Another Awesome Teaser Poster for Kick-Ass

Kick-Ass

"I can't fly. But I can kick your ass." Yesterday evening the teaser trailer for Kick-Ass hit the web, finally introducing everyone to Mark Millar's awesome comic book "super" hero. In addition to that trailer, a new poster has popped up on MySpace, a one-off teaser poster not like the four connected ones we featured last week. As you can tell, Lionsgate is obviously going with the spray paint motif in their marketing campaign for Kick-Ass, as it was used heavily in the trailer and now it's part of the logo on this poster. Not sure I dig that idea entirely, but I otherwise do like this poster a lot. Check it out and let us know what you think?

Sony Wants Marc Webb or Bennett Miller to Direct Moneyball

Moneyball

Yep, even more news on the Moneyball front, if you can handle it. If you recall, back in June we reported on the big fiasco surrounding Sony pulling Steven Soderbergh off of production days before shooting was supposed to start. And yet because they're still fond of the concept, they've been rushing to try and turn it around, which at first involved hiring Aaron Sorkin to do a rewrite of the script. And now Steve Zeitchik from Risky Business reports that they have two new directors lined up, but haven't settled on one of them yet. The top choices: Capote director Bennett Miller and 500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb.

First Trailer for Date Night Starring Steve Carell & Tina Fey

Date Night Trailer

20th Century Fox has debuted the teaser trailer for Date Night starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey as a married couple who go out on a romantic date and get caught up in some crazy shit. This also stars an excessive amount of other big name actors including (some of whom you'll see in the trailer): Mila Kunis, Mark Wahlberg, James Franco, Mark Ruffalo, Kristen Wiig, Ray Liotta, Common, and Taraji P. Henson. There are some funny lines and funny moments and Mark Wahlberg has some impressive abs, but that's it. Most people will get a kick out if it, but personally I think this looks absurdly stupid. Oh well, have fun.

World's Longest Film Will Screen All 150 Hours of Running Time

Jean-Luc Godard - Cinematon

So what exactly happens in a film that runs almost as long as an entire week. Well, it looks like anything really since the film itself, titled Cinematon, is comprised of over 2000 segments, each 3½ minutes long, of footage from celebrities, artists, philosophers and journalists, as well as children who were allowed to do exactly as they please in front of the camera. So basically it's YouTube: The Movie. I jest, but the film should offer much more than just skateboarding dogs with subjects like film director Ken Loach, actors Roberto Benigni and Samuel Fuller, chess grandmaster Joel Lautier and the infamous Terry Gilliam.

Awesome Early Teaser Trailer for Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass

Kick-Ass Teaser Trailer

Wow, did not expect to see this until Friday! The first teaser trailer for Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass, his beautifully violent adaptation of Mark Millar's comic series, has arrived online officially via MySpace. Holy f*ckin' hell this looks so awesome. I've been a fan of the comic series since it hit and I've been excited for this movie since it was first announced. I knew that Vaughn would deliver! I think this may revive Nic Cage's career and it will definitely put both Aaron Johnson (as Kick-Ass) and Chloe Moretz (as Hit Girl) on the map. If you've seen nothing from this movie yet, you're in for one hell of a treat, I promise you that. Enjoy!

New Photos: Eagle of the Ninth, Sorcerer's Apprentice & More!

Eagle of the Ninth

A huge batch of new photos from all kinds of different movies arrived on Collider earlier tonight. And just before that, our friends at Fanboyz found the first few photos from Disney's The Sorcerer's Apprentice. So on top of those, we've got some brand new shots from Anton Corbijn's The American, Sofia Coppola's Somewhere, Kevin Macdonald's The Eagle of the Ninth, and Yuen Woo-ping's True Legend. There are plenty more on Collider, but I pulled the best to feature below. There are also some really cool posters for The Job with Harvey Keitel, Let the Bullets Fly, and Blue Valentine, that Collider got snaps of at AFM.
