Anne Hathaway Also Approached About a Spider-Man 4 Role
Yes, there have been lots of rampant rumors surrounding the villains and additional casting for Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4, and just today a new rumor spawned about a supposed casting meeting with Julia Stiles for the role of Black Cat. Well, some speculations might be shot to the ground today as Nikki Finke over at Deadline Hollywood grabbed an exclusive (and surely reliable) scoop that producers have approached Anne Hathaway for a role in Spider-Man 4, and while she's not familiar with the comic canon, she goes on to say, "she's wanted for a starring role, and she won't replace Kirsten Dunst." As Finke would say, "Toldja!"

Academy Selects 15 Documentary Hopefuls to its Shortlist
The AMPAS has chosen 15 films from the qualifying 89 documentaries to its shortlist. The hopefuls, vying for a final spot in the Documentary Feature category of the 82nd Academy Awards, are listed below, but the list is not without a bit of controversy. Some prominent omissions include the acclaimed smash Anvil! The Story of Anvil, James Toback's Tyson, and, most notably, Michael Moore's Capitalism: A Love Story. Moore's previous film Sicko was nominated in 2008 and his documentary Bowling for Columbine won an Oscar in 2003. However, the 15 documentaries listed below are still all more than deserving of a selection.

Must Watch: Impressive New Trailer for Fox's Percy Jackson
Fox has quietly debuted yet another new trailer for Percy Jackson & the Olympians, making this the third trailer we've seen for this movie so far. Up until this point, we haven't really known what this would be like, what would happen in it and what the story would be. But this trailer finally gives us a glimpse of all that and I've got to say I'm a little more than curious now. In fact, I'm actually very impressed, this looks great, I'm totally in. The effects look good, even though they're probably far from being done, and the story looks pretty entertaining. My only complaint is that this means we'll see two different Medusa's next year!

Interview: Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant Producer Alan Polsky
If you go see Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans this weekend and walk out of it thinking, how the hell did this movie get made and come together this way, well, here's the story. A few weeks ago I met up with producer Alan Polsky (seen to the left with Herzog) at a lunch joint in Beverly Hills to talk about how he got into the business (Alan and his brother Gabe recently started producing) and how this version of Bad Lieutenant got made with such heavyweights as Nicolas Cage and Werner Herzog. Not only is the Bad Lieutenant story great to hear, but he's got big aspirations for the future. So read on!

Zack Snyder's Guardians of Ga'hoole Movie Rounds Up a Cast
It's been quite awhile since we heard about Zack Snyder's forthcoming adaptation of the children's book series Guardians of Ga'hoole. After the project was announced in early 2008, there was some minor casting news way back at the beginning of this year, but development has been pretty mute since then. Now THR's Heat Vision adds a whole bunch of new cast members who will lend their voice to the 3D animated feature including Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), Geoffrey Rush (Pirates of the Caribbean), Hugo Weaving (The Matrix Trilogy) and David Wenham (300) as well as a handful of even more actors after the jump.

A Call of Duty Movie is Actually Closer Than We Thought?
Way back in May, we reported on a very minor tidbit of news regarding a Call of Duty movie, based on the ever-popular series of video games. Since then, we haven't really heard much else on the Call of Duty movie front. However, with the extremely succesful release of Modern Warfare 2 (another sequel in the series) last week, I'm sure Hollywood is antsy about getting a movie into development. Interestingly, the NY Post has a small update from actor Kevin McKidd, who voices Captain 'Soap' MacTavish in the Modern Warfare games, and it sounds like it might be further along than we thought. Or at least there's more to the rumor.

Fuqua & Spike Lee Adapting 'Miss: Better Living Through Crime'
Filmmakers Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Shooter) and Spike Lee (Inside Man) are teaming up for an adaptation of the French graphic novel Miss: Better Living Through Crime. Fuqua will direct the crime thriller with John Ridley, who also recently wrote George Lucas' Red Tails, writing the script and Spike Lee executive producing. The project is one of the first at the newly formed Vigilante Entertainment. The comic is published through Les Humanoides Associes in France and first hit US shelves back in 2002. Vigilante is currently shopping the project around with studios before moving forward. Read on for more info on this.

Jason Lee Making His Directorial Debut with 'Get Back' Comedy
Just over a decade ago was the time when I first became familiar with the raunchy, comedic work of auteur Kevin Smith. And while I'm still a fan of his work, I think I'm more grateful for his bringing actor Jason Lee to a wider audience. Over the past few years, he's been tied up in the NBC comedy series "My Name is Earl." But with its recent cancellation, THR reports Lee is now free to shave that hideous moustache, get a haircut and buckle down to direct his first feature titled Get Back, the story of two music-obsessed friends who time travel to 1966 London, where one gets caught in a love triangle with John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

New French Poster for Avatar & 3 Hour Runtime Confirmed
Here's our first look at the final poster design for James Cameron's Avatar. They essentially added a lush background and half of Jake Sully's face onto the teaser poster. Our friends at Awards Daily are right - this looks a bit too similar to the Benjamin Button posters, but oh well. It's now an exact month from when Avatar will hit theaters, which means the hype should really be growing. In related news, SlashFilm found an interview with composer James Horner where he confirmed that the runtime would be nearly 3 hours. Will this poster with half-faces and an orange glow actually convince audiences to catch this in theaters?

Justin Theroux Writing Astro Romantic Comedy Space Invader
Only in the last few years has actor Justin Theroux turned to writing, but after the enormous success of his work with Etan Cohen on Ben Stiller's action comedy Tropic Thunder, he snagged a dream job writing Iron Man 2 for Jon Favreau and Marvel Entertainment. Though it was recently announced that Theroux would be producing an Air Guitar feature for Paramount, THR reports that's not stopping him from writing his next project, titled Space Invader, a romantic comedy about a man who decides to journey into space after he suspects that his longtime girlfriend, an astronaut, is cheating on him with another spacewalker.

Veteran Editors Being Brought in to Save Universal's Wolfman
Universal has had plenty of frustrating, worrisome and even recent problems with Wolfman and it looks like they're still reeling from them, as new info buried deep in a Variety article (found by SlashFilm) says editors Mark Goldblatt and Walter Murch have been brought in to help salvage this monster movie that has really become a monster in itself. While I'm wondering how much involvement director Joe Johnston has in these decisions, and exactly how close this is to resembling the original vision for this film, Goldblatt and Murch will be fresh eyes on the project and their extensive editing work speaks for itself. Read on!

Julia Stiles Tossed into the Spider-Man 4 Rumor Mill, Too
Just yesterday, our friends at SlashFilm reported that Rachel McAdams denied the rumors that said she was up for Black Cat in Spider-Man 4, and while they seem pretty confident that she's just keeping secrets, her genuine surprise at the thought says otherwise, on top of the fact that we have it on good authority that McAdams has not even met with casting directors, producers or even Sam Raimi for any role in Spider-Man 4. So what of this new Julia Stiles casting meeting rumor (as discovered by UGO) that says she's also in the running for the villainous vixen Black Cat? Well, I don't think it's as cut and dry as that, and here's why.
