Script is Written & Ready for Pee-Wee's Playhouse: The Movie

If you haven't heard yet, Pee-wee Herman, aka Paul Reubens, is mounting a quite a spectacular comeback. He just opened a live production called The Pee-Wee Herman Show in Los Angeles and apparently has other big plans. Although we saw Pee-Wee make his way to the big screen in 1985 in Tim Burton's Pee-wee's Big Adventure (and again in 1988 in Big Top Pee-wee), he's got another movie in the works. In fact, the script is done and it's ready to shoot. Pee-Wee explained to MTV that they decided to make a family-friendly movie based on his classic Saturday morning show, potentially to be called Pee-Wee's Playhouse: The Movie.
"It's already done, the script is already fully written; It's ready to shoot," Pee-wee said. "It's ready to shoot tomorrow. Oh wait, not tomorrow! I'm not available tomorrow. I had a conflict, forgot." Yep, Pee-wee's back whether you like it or not. So what can we expect? Well, it's based on that classic show from the 80's, but it's not going to be entirely set in the playhouse (like on the show). Pee-wee explains a bit more about it:
"[Will we be] going out into the real world in the movie?" Pee-wee explained, answering a question about the script. "It's not really the real world, it's Puppetland. On 'Pee Wee's Playhouse,' on the television series we never left the playhouse, we were always inside the playhouse."
"The movie is all out of the playhouse," he revealed. "There are two scenes in the playhouse, but the rest is out of the playhouse."
So will Pee-wee just be running around trying to get back to the playhouse or something like that? Well, not exactly, but he did say he'll meet all kinds of eccentric "new friends." In fact, he even said that some of them may be created with claymation. However, that's all Pee-wee will really say about the movie right now. "But I can't really tell anything about the movie at this time; it's pretty much top-secret in Hollywood." Not anymore! I'm not really a fan of Pee-wee (they asked me to interview him and I had to respectfully decline), but I will admit I'm slightly curious. If he can successfully revive this persona some 20 years after the show wrapped up, then it must be entertaining to watch it, right? Anyone up for another Pee-wee movie?

Well as a kid I loved the show. Not sure how it will do today though. And isn't he old now? I can't see it having the same effect anymore as it did back in the day. I'm not totally against it just yet.

Pee Wee's Big Adventure is still amazing, but that movie wasn't based on the show all that much. It based purely on the character, which originally came from Paul Reuben's stage show he performed in Las Vegas (which was intended for adults). A movie based on the world of the TV show would be entirely different than the Tim Burton film. I'd love to see this turn into something good, but I seriously doubt that it'll be anything worth watching (even for children).

i absolutely loved the movies, the show, everything. but ive been seeing "peewee" doing the rounds on the talk shows lately and honestly, its just a mess. its just not very funny and he waited too damn long to bring it back. paul reubens isnt the young buck he used to be, and to hear him trying to do the little pee wee voice again is just awful. sad day.

Another Pee Wee movie has been in the works and a script supposedly written for years. I think the first time I read about this next installment was around 2001 or 2002. I'm not sure what the hold up is (or was), but I'll believe it when I see it. But I would, like to see it. If I lived anywhere near L.A., I'd go see that live show in a heartbeat. Although Reubens is much older and a little heavier since the last movie, there are ways they can get around that these days. Which might even make the film more fun. Such as roto scoping. Or some minor CGI. To make him look young again.

Did he not get his cock out in a cinema and get caught for it?
He lives in LA though, so I imagine that's not that out of the ordinary, at least he never called someone sugar tits and got all 3rd Reichtish.
It's actually strange he's still alive, I thought he might go down the asphyxiwank departure or sleeping pills…

This is going to rock so hard! This guy hasn't aged a day- still looks like Pee Wee from 1982. I'm there.

@5 "Wasnt he charged as a pedophile????"
Nope, just the usual stupid american law system. He had some 1920 magazines with pictures of too young girls. And he bought as a collector so many, he did not look up whats in it. And the police came and the conservatives climped up the trees and screamed like monkeys. etc
