THR's Awards Season Roundtables with 6 Fantastic Directors

What would you get if you were to put Kathryn Bigelow, Quentin Tarantino, Peter Jackson, James Cameron, Jason Reitman and Lee Daniels all together in one room? Well, if I were also in that same room with them, I'd probably explode with excitement. But THR did just that as part of their new Awards Season Roundtables series. The trade mag pulled all six of those very talented directors, almost all of whom are expected to be nominated at the Oscars next year, into one room, asked them some questions, and let them at it. You should have a big, goofy grin on your face watching this, it's history in the making.
You can watch more videos from this roundtable: Toughest Scenes to Shoot and Insider or Outsider. What I love about this the most, besides seeing so many brilliant minds talking about making movies, is that you get a small sense of the personality of each of these directors just by watching them for a few minutes. As in, Tarantino starts up with his big ego, and Cameron is trying to dominate his ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow, and Peter Jackson and Jason Reitman are shy onlookers. I kept giggling while I was watching this because I have a feeling all of them were as nervous as the next, just doing their best to give good answers. Enjoy!

Why does Peter Jackson seem so small? Some kind of a LOTR special effect to make him Hobbit size, perhaps just a low sitting?

I agree with 8,
If Quentin was making Resorvoir dogs today on its low budget would he be using it?

QT and Cameron together are cool, but history in the making? Maybe if you switched Lee Daniels and Feitman with Martin Scorcese and Steven Spielberg…THEN you could say "history in the making."

QT has made some amazing flicks… but… man does he seem like a dick!

#11 Not all axes grow grudge towards each other, otherwise Cameron would be one of the most hated men in the world anyway, some continue to go along well, even constructively. I think Cameron himself mentioned that he and she frequently comment on each others work in production and share ideas.

That would have been cool if it was maybe about 40 mins long and everyone had a chance to talk. Some of those folks have issues, but who doesn't.
