Meet Gru's Minions in a Third Despicable Me Teaser Trailer

Okay, now I'm just getting confused. It seems like Universal is slowly trying to introduce different elements of the movie and bits and pieces of the story through multiple teaser trailers for their new animated comedy Despicable Me starring Steve Carell. This is the third teaser trailer for the movie since July (the second one hit last month). However, this teaser is only used to introduce us to Gru's little, yellow Minions who, I guess, will be helping Gru steal the moon. While there are only two of them in this trailer, there is an "entire army" of them in the movie. Although I hated the last two teasers, this is starting to look a little bit better.

A trio of orphan girls cause the normally deplorable and evil Gru to rethink his plan to steal the moon.
Despicable Me is co-directed by Pierre Coffin (Gary's Fall), Chris Renaud (No Time for Nuts), and Sergio Pablos (Tarzan) of the new animation house Illumination Entertainment. The screenplay was co-written by writing partners Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul of films like Bubble Boy, The Santa Clause 2, Horton Hears a Who!, College Road Trip. Universal is bringing Despicable Me to theaters on July 9th, 2010 next summer.

wow really? THIS is the trailer that's changing your mind?
i actually didn't mind the first two trailers, they were neither special nor terrible. But this is pretty dire, the kind of thing they do in the first year of animation class. The animation's unremarkable, the characters are limp, and the whole set up has been done a bazillion (literally) times before - and a lot better. Look up 'Pib And Pog' (early work by Aardman films) on youtube for an example of how to do this.
Animated films have become a formulaic brightly-coloured mush with no real invention or defining style. It's a real shame.
