Matt Damon Says No More Bourne Without Paul Greengrass
Uh oh. The last few days have been pretty rough for Universal. Startling news first hit that director Paul Greengrass was quitting the Bourne franchise on Monday earlier this week. Then Greengrass issued a respectful statement on Tuesday confirming that he would be leaving the franchise behind. At that point, it definitely seemed like he wouldn't return, but that could always change. Now today a press conference for Invictus, Matt Damon made a bold statement: "I’ll just wait for him and when [Greengrass] wants to do one, we'll do it." Is this the end of the Bourne franchise? Will they be able to continue without Greengrass?

Jack Ryan Updates: Chris Pine Confirmed, Starts on Wall Street
Did you already forget that Chris Pine will be the new Jack Ryan? Because I did. Producer Mace Neufeld spoke this morning at a press conference for Invictus and gave a brief update on the next Jack Ryan project (via ComingSoon and Collider). First, he confirmed that Chris Pine was set to play Ryan, but that they were still waiting for a script and it was still very early on in development. Additionally, this will not be based on one of Tom Clancy's novels, but rather will be an original screenplay written by Adam Koxac (with an earlier draft by Hossein Amini). Neufeld wouldn't talk about the story, but did reveal one little tidbit about the plot.

More New Photos of James Franco as Allen Ginsberg in Howl
Back in June we featured the first photo from Howl, the film about the 1957 obscenity trial Allen Ginsberg faced after the publication of his poem of the same name. Thanks to FilmSchoolRejects though, we've got three more photos to add to that first one from June. Howl stars James Franco as the poet Allen Ginsberg alongside of Mary-Louise Parker as Gail Potter, Jeff Daniels as Professor David Kirk, and David Strathairn as Ralph McIntosh. Additionally, Aaron Tveit stars as Ginsberg's friend Peter Orlovsky, which is who you see with Franco above. We also just found out that this would be premiering at Sundance next January.

With Jim Sheridan's drama Brothers starring Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman set to hit theaters on Friday, THR reports that co-producer Matt Battaglia has a plethora of upcoming projects on his plate. Potential projects include adaptations of the novels Bad Monkeys by Matt Ruff and Or I'll Dress You in Mourning by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre, as well as The Marlboro Marine, based on the story of Cpl. Blake Miller and a Los Angeles Times article by Luis Sinco. One project, an untitled Hunter Scott project, even has Battaglia working with J.J. Abrams. Read on for more specific details.

McLovin's Red Mist Gets His Own Kick-Ass Character Poster
A few weeks ago, Lionsgate unveiled the first awesome trailer and first badass poster for Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass comic book movie. AICN has just debuted another new character poster for Red Mist, the other wanna-be superhero that Christopher Mintz-Plasse plays in the movie. He teams up with Kick-Ass, played by Aaron Johnson, and well, they kick some gangster ass. I don't know much more about the plot than that, but I don't want to know more. And so far I've got to say, the marketing on this is pretty awesome. I've loved every poster they've put out, the trailer was great, and I've got a feeling there's plenty more to come. Enjoy!

First Look: A Couple of Dicks, The Town, & Going the Distance
Warner Brothers just debuted their 2010 Preview Kit which includes a small batch of new photographs from most of their big movies in 2010. We've seen a lot of photos from most of their big films already, but there are a few new photos we have never seen yet. Instead of featuring them all one-by-one, I thought I'd throw all the new photos in one big post. So below is our first look at Kevin Smith's A Couple of Dicks (currently called Untitled Cop Movie and may end up as A Couple of Cops), Ben Affleck's The Town, Rob Reiner's Flipped, Nanette Burstein's Going the Distance, and Greg Berlanti's Life as We Know It.

Impressive Official Poster for Ryan Reynolds' Thriller Buried
It was just announced yesterday that Rodrigo Cortés' new thriller Buried starring Ryan Reynolds and only Ryan Reynolds would be premiering at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival coming up in January. To go along with that wonderful news is this poster, thanks to our friends at Quiet Earth. They somehow dug up (pun intended) the first official poster for the film along with two other posters that were created as mock-ups but were never used in the end. This is that film that's set entirely in a coffin and it's already one of the films I'm planning to catch at Sundance. I've got a good feeling it'll be a highlight of my fest. Check out these posters!

Paramount Wants Twilight Actor Taylor Lautner in Max Steel
It was first reported that Paramount had picked up rights to the Mattel's toy line Max Steel with plans of turning it into a feature film back in July. Boy, things move quick at that studio. Now, according to the LA Times, Paramount really wants 17-year-old Twilight star Taylor Lautner to play the lead character Josh McGrath, an extreme sports athlete. In the original WB Kids show (that was based on the toys), McGrath is "accidentally exposed to the unleashed power of nanotechological machines, which become part of him and give him increased strength, near-invulnerability and the ability to change his appearance." Sounds fun, eh?

Michelle Williams to Play Marilyn Monroe, Not Johansson?
But she is a better actress, right? Production Weekly is reporting that Michelle Williams (Synecdoche New York, Brokeback Mountain) is "in talks" to star as Marilyn Monroe in Simon Curtis' My Week With Marilyn. According to early reports, Scarlett Johansson was also rumored for the role, but I think that was more speculation based on her looks. This is the first time we've heard this, so I won't take it as confirmed casting, but it seems like it could be legit. This must be a minor indie film, because My Week With Marilyn isn't even listed on IMDb yet, which means it's a very new project. Shooting is scheduled to begin in June.

Steven Spielberg Says Goodbye to DreamWorks' Harvey Remake
Putting aside preferences for certain actors, directors, writers, and so on, there's no denying that putting together a movie is one damn difficult task no matter the talent trying to put it together. A recent article from Variety proves just that as it informs us that iconic director Steven Spielberg has given up on his recent taking on of Harvey, the remake of the 1950 Jimmy Stewart film about a man who befriends a six and a half foot tall invisible rabbit. Though it doesn't sound like a bitter departure, it sounds like Spielberg was getting frustrated with not only finding the right actor, but figuring out the right approach to the story.

Vincent Chase and His Entourage Headed to the Big Screen?
Adrian Grenier has been in the spotlight quite a bit for playing fictional actor Vincent Chase on the HBO series "Entourage," chronicling the life of an actor and his friends and they deal with the ups and downs of the entertainment industry. And while Grenier is no stranger to the big screen, Vincent Chase's exploits have been limited to fictional projects with directors like James Cameron and Martin Scorsese. That may change sooner than later as THR reports that an Entourage movie might be in the cards with producer Mark Wahlberg saying there's probably a good two seasons left for the series to be followed by a feature film.

Bad Lieutenant Duo Picking Up 'Gun, With Occasional Music'
Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans starring Nicholas Cage caught Alex by surprise when he saw it at Telluride, and now the film's producers are riding some good buzz to their next project as THR reports that brothers Gabe and Alan Polsky have optioned Jonathan Lethem's novel Gun, With Occasional Music, which follows an archetypal private eye as he delves into the murder of a prominent urologist. Interesting elements include super-smart children called "baby-heads," evolved animals, erotic nerve swapping, debit cards holding one's karma and a kangaroo that works for the mob. Wait, what the?
