One Final Faceless Poster Hits for Breck Eisner's The Crazies
Fear thy neighbor. I'm not sure why I'm so fascinated by the posters for this damn horror movie, but I just can't stop featuring them. Thankfully the is the last official poster for The Crazies that Overture is putting out and it has no faces or actors on it at all, only a pitchfork being dragged across the ground. You can probably tell that's also blood on the floor, but they had to make it look black on the poster so they wouldn't get in trouble. Creepy. There are a few other posters that just came out today as well, like this final Shutter Island one or this Lake Mungo one, but this Crazies poster is the best of the new batch. Check it out below!

Hugh Jackman is Starring in Antoine Fuqua's Prisoners Movie?
Late last week, the Valley Independent Sentinel in Connecticut reported on casting for Antoine Fuqua's Prisoners project which is supposed to start shooting in Derby and Shelton, Connect. next February. The paper talks about casting 750 extras for the film and shooting in the city. They also mention that "local officials said they’ve been told Hugh Jackman is attached to the movie." Originally we had heard rumors about Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale being attached, but when Fuqua took over, I thought he dumped that old cast. Could Jackman be the first big actor cast in Fuqua's version? I'd be very happy if this is true.

Robert Rodriguez's Updates on Sin City 2 & Machete Trilogy
Last week, a small handful of websites were invited to the set of Robert Rodriguez's Predators down in Austin, TX (we sadly weren't included). While there, they talked with Robert Rodriguez about all of the projects he currently has in the works, from Spy Kids to Sin City 2 to Machete. He doesn't really say much, but does give some informative and possibly even amusing updates on Sin City 2 and Machete though, so I'm focusing on those. You can find a complete rundown of everything on Collider or RopeofSilicon if you're curious about Spy Kids or any other upcoming projects. And with that, let's see what Rodriguez had to say.

Screenwriter Peter Morgan Says Bond 23 Has a 'Shocking Story'
The last time we heard anything about Bond 23 was back in June, when EON Productions announced that Peter Morgan (The Last King of Scotland, The Queen, Frost/Nixon) would be writing the screenplay along with Bond franchise regulars Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. Bond website MI6.co.uk (via SlashFilm) has an update from Morgan saying that the screenwriter moved to Vienna, Austria earlier this year to work on the screenplay. All that he would tell them about it is that "it's a shocking story." He also added that "Bond creates a hysteria around it" that he hasn't seen before in which everyone is always asking about Bond 23.

A Few Earthlings Beamed Up for the Marvin the Martian Movie
It's been almost exactly a year and a half since Warner Bros announced they would be bringing the classic Looney Tunes alien Marvin the Martian to the big screen in his very own feature film. Since then, we've heard absolutely nothing regarding its development. But now LA Times Hero Complex is reporting that WB has found writers in Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgrove (who are writing the upcoming CHiPS movie), as well as a director in Alex Zamm (who is also helming the upcoming Hong Kong Phooey movie). Not only that, but apparently Mike Myers is one of the top choices to provide voicework for the nasal challenged Martian.

Cloudy's Phil Lord and Chris Miller Directing 21 Jump Street
Last week, Sony's Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs was nomination in the Best Animated Film category of the Golden Globes, the first of many nominations it's likely to get this year. Heat Vision is now reporting that the directors of the animated film, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, are "in negotiations" to direct the big screen version of 21 Jump Street that was written by Jonah Hill and Michael Bacall. We interviewed Lord and Miller back in September as well, they're very cool guys. The original TV show aired in the 1980s and starred Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise as "young looking" cops who worked undercover in high schools.

Indie Trailer Sunday: Sleek Russian Hitman Film 'The Ghost'
Today's indie trailer comes from Russia, a hitman action thriller called The Ghost or Domovoy in Russian. Thanks to Twitch for finding it. I chose to feature it today because I love the concept. It's one of those sleek ideas that you're screenwriting friend would come up with to mirror his own writing troubles. Basically, in The Ghost, a novelist and an actual assassin meet up and start working together, setting up an actual hit so that the novelist can get some real life inspiration. The production value in this looks great as well, it kind of reminds me of Bourne a bit. Give it a shot, you may actually want to see the whole thing after watching this.

Roger Ebert's Two Lists of the Best Films of 2009 Unveiled
Ah yes, it's that time of year when everyone starts putting out their best of the year lists. Roger Ebert has announced his list of the best of 2009 and he's split it up into two specific lists in order to give 20 different films this honor. He explains: "The lists are divided into Mainstream Films and Independent Films. This neatly sidesteps two frequent complaints: (1) 'You name all those little films most people have never heard of,' and (2) 'You pick all blockbusters and ignore the indie pictures.' Which is is my official Top Ten? They both are equal, and every film here is entitled to name itself 'One of the Year's 10 Best!'" See all 20 below!

How to Not Get a Headache Watching Avatar or Any 3D Movie
I was just sent an email the other day with a link to this guide on Shadowlocked (via Gizmodo) that explains "How to avoid getting a 3D headache while watching Avatar." It doesn't happen to me, but apparently some people get headaches from watching 3D, especially over two hours of it (since Avatar is 162 minutes long). They came up with a very simple "guide" and explanation behind why you might be getting headaches. While the focus is on Avatar, this tip can be used while watching almost any 3D movie to prevent headaches and other issues. It's a simple idea that makes a lot of sense. Check this out even if you don't get headaches.

Actress Brittany Murphy Has Tragically Died at Age 32 Today
Multiple sites, including TMZ, are now reporting that actress Brittany Murphy, seen most recently in Across the Hall, died this morning at the age of 32 in Los Angeles. The reports indicate that she went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived. No other information is known about her death, besides that it occurred at the home of her husband Simon Monjack this morning at around 8AM. This is incredibly tragic especially considering she was still a young budding actress with quite a bit of potential. While she wasn't the most popular actress, she will certainly be remember for her many great appearances in many films.

Jackass 3-D Will Take You to Places You Never Wanted to Go
Earlier this month we not only got confirmation that a new third installment of MTV's off-the-wall series Jackass was in the works, but that it would also be presented in 3-D adding a whole new nasty level of gross. Johnny Knoxville and the guys promise a return to complete chaos and mayhem to really make the 3-D worth your while, but it's exactly where they intend to use the technology that is, shall we say, cheeky. Knoxville explains: "We're going to take the same 3-D technology James Cameron used in Avatar and stick it up Steve-O's butt. We're talking stupid to a whole new dimension." Spoken like a true cinematic pioneer.
