Back For More - Sex and the City Sequel Coming Together

We would say that this was inevitable, but the fate of the Sex and the City franchise was actually tied to its box office. Even if you hate the show or the movie, you can't deny that it has a very powerful audience, because it ended up taking in a massive $152 million this summer on a $65 million budget. So believe it or not, they're making the sequel. E! Online was the first to report that all four stars, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis, as well as writer and director Michael Patrick King, have agreed to return, giving this the big greenlight. Now New Line wants to put it on the fast-track for 2010.
Since I have never watched the show and didn't see the movie, I questioned my Sex and the City-loving female friend about the sequel. Instead of being excited, her response was, "I just think the first one wrapped it all up so nicely, I just don't get the need to do another one." Interesting to hear from a fan and I'll be curious whether the women that all contributed to that $152 million feel the same way. Regarding the production, no start date has been set and the script hasn't even been written, but it's still big news. It took years for Kim Cattrall to finally agree to the first movie, which is why that took so long to get made.
