Cold Souls Poster

Now this might be a contender for the poster of the year. Cinematical has debuted the official poster for Sophie Barthes' Cold Souls starring Paul Giamatti as himself. The film is a Being John Malkovich-like story about how Giamatti loses his "soul" when an experimental soul extraction company misplaces it. It premiered at Sundance earlier this year to lukewarm reviews, but has been praised by others (Eric from IONCinema called it one of the best films of the year). Now we finally have an official poster to promote its early August limited release and it's absolutely brilliant. You'll definitely want to see this full-size below!

Even if this poster doesn't make sense now, just wait until the trailer debuts, which should be this week.

Cold Souls Poster

Paralyzed with anxiety over an upcoming role, Paul Giamatti stumbles upon a high-tech company promising to alleviate suffering by deep-freezing souls. Giamatti enlists their services, intending to reinstate his soul once he survives the performance. But complications ensue when a soul-trafficking mule borrows Giamatti's stored soul for an ambitious, but unfortunately talentless, soap-opera actress.

Cold Souls is written and directed by first-time Ukranian filmmaker Sophie Barthes, of only a few shorts previously. This premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year where it was bought by Samuel Goldwyn Films for distribution in the US. Cold Souls will hit limited theaters starting on August 7th.

What about Owl in the Daylight!? Besides that this looks and sounds fantastic! Alex, any idea if this will get a wide release? Because many a good film has passed me by, and I'm growing tired of waiting a long time to see good films!

Going to have to agree with Eric, i caught this at Sundance and was easily one of my favraites. This, Moon and In The Loop are all brilliant movies and should not be missed if one is lucky enough to catch them at their nearby theaters.

I saw it at Bonnaroo, it was kind of weird, like if Eternal Sunshine wasn't that good.

Very interesting promotion poster. I don't know about the "experimental soul extraction company" bit but otherwise should be a decent film.

Paul Giamatti is an amazing actor and I love his acting. He is really popular among singles in Fresno. His comedy is really amazing and the poster displays the fun element of his personality really well.
