Burton and Depp Shooting Dark Shadows Starting Next Year

Ah man, not another vampire movie?! Don't worry, this one will be a bit different than we've seen recently. Although we've heard this before (see here), producer Graham King confirmed again with SciFi Wire that Tim Burton's Dark Shadows movie will shoot next year. "We're actually going to shoot that film next September/October with Tim Burton and Johnny [Depp]," King told them. Depp will play the 175-year-old vampire Barnabas Collins, who is in search of fresh blood and his lost love. Dark Shadows is based on a horror TV show that ran on ABC from 1966 to 1971. Tim Burton is directing a script written by John August.

"We've been working on the script a lot, even though [Tim's] working on Alice," King added. "We've been given a script. John August wrote the first screenplay. We're making some changes, but the film's going to be in production, as I say, September or October of next year." August previously wrote the Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Corpse Bride scripts for Tim Burton. Burton is currently finishing up Alice in Wonderland, due out next March, and will then jump onto Dark Shadows. So if Depp is shooting this next September, does that mean he'll still have enough time to shoot another Pirates of the Caribbean, too?

Even though Tim Burton and Depp are part of this, it's still a vampire movie and I won't pay a penny to see it. I'm tired of vampire movies. Even before all this twilight BS I've had enough of vampires. Hollywood should just let the genre die already.

#3, they can't... im not sayn i dont want them to, i mean i hate twilight.... with a Passion!... but they cant, they wont its somethin they cant die (like vampires XD) becuase its a classic story, a story everyone knows since they were children... thats why it wont die, every generation there will be a new movie of vampires so not to sound like an "ASS" but Deal With It!!!

Tim and Johnny need to stop sucking each others dicks. My favorite Burton films didn't have Johnny in them and where both original screenplays. You have pull in the industry Burton why are you continuing these remakes???

The last two movie kinda, were not original like the first movie!. So we need another "original" pirates of the caribbean movie like curse of the black pearl !!!!!!!!!!!!.

I loved watching Dark Shadows. I think Mr Depp will make a fabulous Barnabas. He is such a genius actor. In every role he potrays he simply wow's the audience. He is truly gifted. I will look forward to seeing this come to life ont he big screen.

I could understand the complaining if the Depp/Burton team was crap, but they've done nothing but great movies. Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Sweeney Todd, etc. are all fantastic movies. Maybe you can argue Charlie and the Chocolate factory wasn't up to par, but the rest are good. As long as they continue to make good movies, whats there to complain about?

I think Burton is too close to Depp and can't really think objectively. It would be nice to get some new blood (excuse my horrible pun) for a change.
