Charlie Day and Christina Applegate Join Going the Distance
by Alex Billington
July 1, 2009
If there is one romantic comedy you should be on the look out for, it's the upcoming Going the Distance. We already know that it'll star Drew Barrymore and Justin Long and is being directed by American Teen director Nanette Burstein. Joining the cast are Charlie Day, one of the stars and creators of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," and actress Christina Applegate, who was last seen on "Samantha Who?". The story by first-time writer Geoff LaTulippe follows a couple (Barrymore and Long) trying to maintain a long-distance relationship. Day is playing Long's best friend while Applegate will play Barrymore's sister.
If you're an avid fan of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", you might already know that not many of its stars have "made the jump" to movies just yet. Charlie Day was only able to do so this time by coordinating his schedule to work around the shoot for this movie, since "Philadelphia" is in the middle of shooting its fifth season as we speak. Going the Distance was originally going to be shot this year and be released next February, but Warner Brothers gave that spot to Valentine's Day instead, appropriately so. Subsequently, Going the Distance will get released sometime later next year. We'll keep you updated on its development!
