TCM's Summer Under the Stars Posters

The always wonderful Turner Classic Movies is launching their new summer movie series called Summer Under the Stars. This marathon will include 42 films that will be making their premiere on TCM. Each and every day, from August 1st to August 31st, they will run a daily marathon of films featuring one classic actor, including Henry Fonda, James Coburn, Harold Lloyd, Judy Garland, Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, and Clark Gable (you can download the full schedule from here). In honor of their upcoming series, TCM has debuted a few special posters created for some of the classics that will be making their premiere on TCM.

Thanks to Rope of Silicon for first featuring these beautiful posters. Click that link to see a lot more of these, including great contemporary posters for Grapes of Wrath, The Big Heat, High Society, Jailhouse Rock, Safety Last, and Gilda. I have a feeling these posters could become as iconic as the original films themselves - as they're so perfectly representative of contemporary design today. And best of all, they really make me want to check out almost all of these classics films, as I personally haven't seen most of them (I admit). If you're interested in checking out the TCM series, visit the official website for Summer Under the Stars.

All of them are really freaking good...funny these are better than half of the shit posters that come out for upcoming movies.

The Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde poster is perfect. I think there are two new movie adaptations of that book coming out. One of them should totally steal that poster to use in its marketing.

These posters are better than most of the studio posters for any film we've seen this year.

Are you saying these are posters for movies that haven't shown on TCM yet? Becuase I know for a fact I've seen three of these within the past six months on TCM: Guess Who's Coming To Dinner, Dr. Strangelove, and The Magnificent Seven.

The Magnificent Seven poster is incredible. Love it.

Yea, Ive seen a couple of those recently on TCM as well! these posters are great! but keep in mind that they arent the original posters from release, the designer had the luxury of seeing every graphic interpretation thats been made of these movies for the last 25+ years. all that aside, These Fckn rock!
