The Book of Eli Behind-the-Scenes Video

We've talked a lot about the Hughes Brothers' The Book of Eli recently, namely casting and a few other minor details. Last week we ran some early set photos, but now we have an actual video. Entertainment Tonight (ugh) put up a video from the set with Denzel Washington. The set pretty much looks exactly as it has been described - a post-apocalyptic western. While the reporter in the vieo claims we're watching the "climax" of the movie, I really don't think it is. I'm sure it's just a heated scene involving a shoot out between Denzel and Gary Oldman, but it's probably not the climax. Anyway, check this out if you're interested!

There's also a couple of interesting details from this video that I've got to bring up. First off, Mila Kunis mentions that the sun explodes in the future, which is why the world looks the way it does in The Book of Eli. Kind of cool. Secondly, there are two guys at the end talking about shooting the most action in one take and one cut. Does this mean we'll see more of those lengthy uncut action sequences like in Hard Boiled or Children of Men? Were the Hughes Brothers inspired by dystopian future in Children of Men so much that they had to replicate Alfonso Cuarón's uncut action sequences? I'm not sure, but this is all quite curious.

Very interesting, this has definitely made me a little more excited for this movie, I was waiting for some footage, and this may have been all I needed.
  • I wanna see where the samurai sword fits in, but this is something I'm looking forward to very much.

    Children of Men sucked!

Amazing how when you see the action from the shitty behind the scenes cameras, it looks so crap. Nothing like what the Film cameras are capturing.

@5 I wouldn't say the behind the scenes it looks like crap cause...it is what it is, just raw footage. Your forgetting what the power of some dramatic music and camera angles could do, haha.

Alex, dude, those two guys at the end are the Hughes brothers..

The less I know the better at this point. This is one of the more "original" sounding movies lately and I don't want the likes of ET to screw it up with their glorifying batner about what they were "allowed" to see that day. Denzel, Samurai Sword, Futuristic war torn humanity... say no more. I'm there.

I couldn't have said it better myself Mr J Money...I had to go on Watchmen lockdown for months prior and the same thing happened with Iron Man. Is nothing a surprise in Hollywood anymore? I guess there's a fine line between good marketing and giving too much of the story away.

Denzel looks very friendly i like the guy and i really love his movies the cast looks great...Kunis babe as usual, Oldman with the Epic performance & Stevenson...not a very good actor *Worst job in War Zone*

Since Kunis isn't an Astrophysicist I'm going on the assumption she really doesn't know the "science" behind when she’s saying "The Sun explodes". Any intelligent and smart individual who’s watched copious amounts of Sci-Fi or better yet has some good science knowledge knows that if the sun exploded...A. It wouldn't be really sunny during the movie and B. We would all have about 8 mins to live before the earth is a smoking cinder. So I'm guessing it's probably a massive solar flare of some kind which would knock out all communication, heat up the earth, cook some people on the sunny side of the earth etc etc etc. You get the idea. Other then that plot line curiosity I'd like clarified…I can't wait to see it. :)
