The Great Buck Howard Trailer

Believe it or not, The Great Buck Howard premiered at Sundance last year, and got scathing reviews from most critics. Also believe it or not, I really enjoyed it, even though it's a PG comedy about a failing magician. So here we have the trailer, and it's not all that great, but it should sell a couple of people and get a few of them in theaters. Unfortunately Magnolia is dumping it as quickly and as quietly as they can and they're marketing it to very specific audiences with this trailer. So even if you like this trailer, you probably won't be able to catch it in theaters. Oh well, check it out anyway, and let us know if you like it?

When a law school dropout (Colin Hanks) answers an advertisement to be a personal assistant, he unknowingly signs on to work for a belligerent has-been magician (John Malkovich) struggling to resurrect his career. This leads to a journey across the country staging the comeback of a lifetime.

The Great Buck Howard is both written and directed by Sean McGinly, of The Truth About Juliet, Two Days, and Brothers previously. The film first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008 and is being distributed by Magnolia Pictures. The Great Buck Howard will be hitting theaters on March 20th.

Good, not great. Just because it has a cast of worthy faces, doesn't make it phenomenal.

I like it. But I have a problem with trailers that shows too much.....this one has almost the whole movie in 2:30 minutes.

yea crappy trailer, but it has a great cast and looks pretty darn funny, I don't get why they're dumping it so readily, it looks good to me

It looks like one of those kinda cute kinda funny family pics that you end up really enjoying. I think the best example I can think of is "Elf".

Although that trailer leaves something to be desired (it gives too much away) I'm curious to know what critics didn't like about it the first time around? It seems to have assembled a note worthy cast and I think it's entertaining to see Malkovich in a role that doesn't require him to be a complete bastard. I'd see it!

Wow...some really big names in that too...Guess goes to show you that good casting doesn't mean good film making.

Here are the reviews listed on the imdb page. They're mixed leaning towards positive, not scathing at all. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460810/externalreviews
