Crazy, Insane Trailer for Indie Flick 'Leslie, My Name Is Evil'
by Alex Billington
September 4, 2009
This is one of those trailers where you're guaranteed to be asking yourself "what the hell did I just watch?" Apple has debuted the trailer for an indie film called Leslie, My Name Is Evil today and it's quite a wild ride. Apparently this is "loosely based" on the Manson Family murders about a girl who was traumatized as a teenager and joins a radical cult that murders people. It looks pretty frickin' insane, and I'm not entirely sure that's a good thing, but I'm hoping to catch this up at the Toronto Film Festival in order to write a full review. I guess I'd say it has potential, and at least the performances from the two lead actors look great.

Perry (Gregory Smith), a sheltered chemical engineer, falls in love with Leslie (Kristen Hager), a former homecoming princess, when he becomes a jury member at her hippie death cult murder trial. A film that explores how the choices Perry and Leslie make reflect upon the moral choices our society has made.
Leslie, My Name Is Evil is both written and directed by Canadian filmmaker Reginald Harkema, of Better Off in Bed and Monkey Warfare previously. This is premiering at the Toronto Film Festival this month where it will be looking for a US distributor. I expect we'll be hearing a lot more about it in the near future.
