Don't Watch: Official Trailer for Horror Feature Orphan

Orphan Trailer

Warner Brothers has debuted the trailer for their newest horror movie called Orphan. How did this get made? It looks as bland and unoriginal as every other horror movie we've seen in the last few years and I really doubt it's going to be any different. I've actually seen this trailer a few times before, because Warners kept showing it at the various Comic-Con's I went to, because they somehow thought that audiences would want to see a trailer for a really bad horror movie after being pumped up for Terminator and Watchmen. I don't think so… If you like horror, take a look, otherwise I strong suggest you skip this trailer entirely.

John and Kate, who recently lost their baby, adopt a 9-year-old girl named Esther who is not nearly as innocent as she claims to be. Concerned for the safety of her family, Kate tries to get John and others to see past Esther's sweet facade. But her warnings go unheeded until it may be too late… for everyone.

Orphan is directed by Spanish filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra, of only House of Wax and Goal II: Living the Dream previously. The story was written by first-timer Alex Mace and the screenplay was also written by first-timer David Johnson. Not a lot of big or exciting names involved with this one, which explains why it doesn't look so great. Warner Brothers will debut Orphan in theaters everywhere on July 24th.

Is this whole movie based on a girl going through her first menstral cycle?

J on Mar 13, 2009

Di Caprio produced this.

Colin on Mar 13, 2009

Well that's nice. I like how they show the entire movie in the trailer or is this the latest edition of 2 minute movies? A trailer only a W.B. executive could love.

Mat on Mar 13, 2009

This looks terrible. I truly mean that, with small children I try to not even watch trailers like this. God did not make children evil, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth watching this.

Goudos on Mar 13, 2009

I like that #11, I was thinking of Good Son too. As for #10, that just sounds stupid (not you, the script). /sigh......

stevedawg on Mar 13, 2009

hahhahahaha that last part was definently "AH!!! oh wait its just my kid popping out as a joke"

-Peter- on Mar 13, 2009

I feel like i watched the movie by watching that trailer. all I wanted to know was why she was doing that, thanks #10 for the reason. that is really really dumb. (spoiler) so, it's a horror version of Little Man?

Jesse Gouldsbury on Mar 13, 2009

I love how you say Alex: Don't watch, and then you have it up, you could just not report on it all...that much easier.

Movieraider321 on Mar 13, 2009

Unfortunatly I saw this trailer at the screening, "last house on the left." and the only way I can describe the trailer was, it reminded me of something like, "The Good Son" meets Meh.

The_Phantom on Mar 13, 2009

Another Lame movie!

Fisherr on Mar 13, 2009

who knows, they may end up marketing it as a comedy and it might break even

harrison on Mar 13, 2009

Showing little kids in peril is so offputting.

tommyturner on Mar 13, 2009

I hate movies like this because at any point you could and should just push the kid down a flight of stairs and move on with life...

tankmaster on Mar 13, 2009

is one time watch movie, if any you guys gonna watch it just tell ending on the comment page.

cindarr on Mar 13, 2009

why do they always end a trailer with someone hiding under something or running up to a car, causing the person to frantically overreact, but when you watch the movie in its entirety it turns out to be some punk trying to scare you or in this case, the little girl trying to creep out the father by playing dead under the blanket. do they not wnat to distance themselves from other horror movies?! geez

LeeMan on Mar 14, 2009

it looks good to me lol even though its the same stuff over again ill go see it i love movies!

tt on Mar 14, 2009

What are you doing Peter Sarsgaard, you don't need to be in crappy movies, you are Peter Sarsgaard.

Tara on Mar 14, 2009

I think it looks good too. Predictable but fun. I like movies

VisitorQ on Mar 14, 2009

This reminds me of another Vera Farmiga movie called JOSHUA released about two years ago by Fox Searchlight. This reminds me of a more mainstream version of it. JOSHUA was good, but more psychological horror than this.

Ryan on Mar 14, 2009

not impressed

alan on Mar 14, 2009

I thought it looked good...reminded me of the "good son" too but so what...that was a pretty messed up movie. I want to see it!!!

Jenn on Mar 16, 2009

uhhhhhh, this is one for nobody. Watching the trailer was a waste of time

Dave on Mar 17, 2009

u people suck and have sucked all the life out of the trailer

neonblue on Mar 27, 2009

Hey, the mother is played by the same woman who played the mother in 'Joshua'. I think she should take the hint and stay away from

defeatedfrog on Apr 2, 2009

this was stupid, why did they update a 9 year old girl in the first place they have two perfectly good kids at home? that trailer and movie look stupid, and a waste of time for anyone who see it, I warn you all the for the day when a real horor film will come and no one will be able to handle it, becuase it'll actually be scary.

The Kid on Apr 4, 2009

Seriously...people, grow up. It's just a trailer, and yeah, it might be a movie similar to other movies but what isn’t these days. I haven't seen an "original" idea in years but that doesn't mean the movie will be horrible. If you don't like these types of movies then don't speak on it and if you do then I would hope you wouldn't be such a sheep and follow others criticisms of the TRAILER and actually see the movie and decide for yourself.

Topazmoon on May 26, 2009

This movie seems so-so I mean I am somewhat interested and it defiantly beats all this supernatural Japanese remakes such as the ring, the grudge, shutter, and so on so it is a bit of a change to what has been coming out of late just use a few changes but it not worth whining about when it should be viewed as something different to barrage of crap that has been coming out lately but I do understand it could be better (I just watched drag me to hell and I'd be far chose this be just watching the trailer)

Muffinette on Jun 28, 2009

I just saw the movie and it wasn't like every other horror movie out there. It was a lot better than I anticipated.

Courtney on Jul 24, 2009

Saw the movie tonight. OMG. The trailer doesn't tell you half of what's in it, believe me. It kept me on the end of my seat from start till ending. The ending is so-so. By "so-so", I don't mean mediocre. It could be a happy for a tragic ending, depending on how you look at it. But OMG, go see this move. And PLEASE, DON'T bring your kids.

Mark on Jul 25, 2009

I saw it and no its not a typical horror film it was good and i know her secret email for it
