Elisabeth Shue Joins the Cast of Alexandre Aja's Piranha 3-D?
Uh oh, this is starting to sound like Anaconda all over again. Moviehole claims to have confirmed that Elisabeth Shue is in final negotiations to join Piranha 3-D, the upcoming horror project from Hills Have Eyes and Mirrors director Alexandre Aja. Shue will play the role of Sheriff Julie Forester, an authority figure in the town of Lake Victoria, where all the action takes place. She is also the mother of Jake, one of the central teenage characters in the film. Piranha 3-D was originally supposed to be out this summer, but got delayed by The Weinstein Company. They're now preparing to shoot and then release it next year.
The last time I even remember seeing Elisabeth Shue was in Hamlet 2, where she actually played herself and was quite hilarious. But other than that, its been a while, I don't think I've seen some of her past few films, like Gracie or Mysterious Skin or Hollow Man. Before those, the last thing I think I saw her in was The Saint in 1997. This isn't to say she's not a great actress, I just don't think starring in a 3-D horror project is going to bring her into the spotlight again. As I said earlier, this is sounding way too much like Anaconda and I'm worried it's going to be just as bad, but in 3-D, which might make it even worse. Thoughts?
