First Chilling Trailer for Sony's The Stepfather Remake

The Stepfather Trailer

This fall, Daddy's home! The first trailer for The Stepfather, a remake of the 1987 thriller of the same name, has hit the web today. Yep, this is that movie with a poster that has hands holding a tie in a menacing way (see that here). It's kind of like Disturbia, except that the serial killer is actually this guy's soon-to-be-stepfather, not his neighbor. Oooh, that one give you chills? Of course, this features plenty of hotties in bikinis (is there any other way to sell a horror?) like Amber Heard and plenty of menacing "I don't trust this guy" moments. Anyway, I'll probably check this out, but it doesn't look like it'll be anything too special.

Watch the first trailer for The Stepfather:

[flv: 482 272]

Michael Harding returns home to find his mother happily in love and living with her new boyfriend, David. As the two get to know each other, Michael becomes more and more suspicious of the man who's always there lend a helpful hand. Is he really the man of her dreams or could David be hiding a dark side?

The Stepfather is directed by Nelson McCormick, of last year's Prom Night as well as plenty of TV show episodes. The screenplay was originally written by Donald E. Westlake and then revised by J.S. Cardone (The Covenant, Prom Night). Screen Gems will debut The Stepfather in theaters on October 16th this fall.

Itslike Disturbia... but... in the same house.

I love Dylan Walsh but I don't think this will be anything like the original. I'd rather it be a drama about a new dad but no there always needs to be a cheesy horror flick that ruins a career or shows the same shit over and over again. #1 That is exactly what I thought! And this trailer gave away everything so pass!

xerxex on Jun 17, 2009

seems like that trailer just showed us the whole film.

Crimson on Jun 17, 2009

You have to admit...the swinging circular saw at the end is pretty great. You should all go back and watch the original. Terry O'Quinn (Locke from LOST) is the stepfather. It's actually a pretty good movie and O'Quinn is awesome as always.

Kevin on Jun 17, 2009

they showed the whole movie......

sooo domestic disturbance 2

cody on Jun 17, 2009

who decides what goes into these trailers? they give away way too much about what is going to happen, especially at around the 2:00 minute mark.

Shelby on Jun 17, 2009

The male version of Poison Ivy? More Amber Heard please!! She really fills out that bikini. Yummy

Brandon on Jun 17, 2009

I don't think Walsh can beat Terry O'quinn (John f'ing Locke) as a manical killer.

xerxex on Jun 17, 2009

it's like disturbia... but the exact same thing.

teddymercury on Jun 17, 2009

Walsh and Terry O'quinn who is the winner ?

led panel on Jun 17, 2009

Terry O'Quinn. Walsh seems to be too nice, which isn't bad.

xerxex on Jun 17, 2009

This would have been awesome if directed by David Cronenberg. Still, i might watch it.

Mario on Jun 17, 2009

#16 I have to agree.

xerxex on Jun 17, 2009

Its like Disturbia, but without Shia Lebeouf

Nutsac Tacos on Jun 17, 2009

just me or does the use of font evoke "the Godfather" feel?

viral on Jun 17, 2009

Wait so that's not how a step-father relationship is? Seems normal to me

quez on Jun 18, 2009

Nothing could be the pure awesome of Terry O'Quinn but this doesn't look bad.

Zeezee on Jun 18, 2009

meh. you almost sold me on the hotties in bikinis. but id much rather SEE hotties in bikinis, ill just go to the beach this weekend. this could be disturbia part 2. just not as good.

mrmr on Jun 18, 2009

was that a trailer or the entire movie itself? hopefully there's more in the movie than what is there in the trailer...

miracle disease on Jun 18, 2009

First CHILLING trailer? I guess you have not seen Inside or Martyrs yet.

Film-Book dot Com on Jun 18, 2009

PG-13. I'm out.

Sebastian Selig on Jun 19, 2009

"Mother said turn it DOWN!"

Conrad on Jun 19, 2009

I think the original was better already!

JussHaten on Jun 19, 2009

Yep. PG 13. All the good parts are in this preview. So enjoyed that while it lasted. But yes I will agree. The hanging circular saw, was PRETTY sweet.

Seductive Flamingo on Jun 19, 2009

It seems like every movie that comes out can be referenced to a movie that already came out in the past. This looks like that, that looks like this... then when they reboot or remake a movie, people complain about that as well. I guess there really is no more originality.

big r on Jun 21, 2009

The poster's soooo cheesy, who ever came up with that idea ought to be fired! looks like some japanese executives strike placards.

Dexter on Jun 21, 2009

This is the crappy version of Domestic Disturbance (Which wasn't all that great to begin with). I guess Vince Vaugn did star in a crappy version of he deserves it.

Foxmulder32 on Jun 23, 2009

Haha if a saw is falling down on u roll out of the way!

tankmaster on Jul 4, 2009

Wish Hollywood would come up with original ideas! Way too soon for this to be remade.
