Francis Lawrence Brought In to Consult on Jonah Hex Reshoots
Even more reshoot news? It's not uncommon for most major movies to do reshoots, it's just something that movie studios can afford to do when they're working on big movies. But it's always distressing to hear about reshoots on a project we're excited about, especially when it comes with some interesting additional details. For example, Bloody-Disgusting is reporting tonight that Jonah Hex is doing some reshoots over the next few weeks. However, Warner Bros has decided to bring on I Am Legend and Constantine director Francis Lawrence to "consult" on the reshoots (as in, to make sure they turn out much better than previously).
Jonah Hex, based on the DC Comics character, is (or rather was) being directed by Jimmy Hayward, who's only other directing credit is on the animated movie Horton Hears a Who. This is his first live-action feature film and I'm sure that means he's not as experience as other directors who have spent years working on sets. So I imagine that Lawrence is helping guide and consult him on these reshoots so they can perfect some scenes that didn't turn out they want they wanted originally (or they way Warner Brothers wanted). From the footage we saw at Comic-Con, it look pretty damn cool, but that was all raw, rough footage. Let's hope this isn't anything we should be worried about, as I'm still looking forward to Jonah Hex next year.
