Is the Wachowskis's Next Project a Futuristic Iraq War Movie?

What the heck is going on? Peter from SlashFilm just called me to tell me about some interesting things he found on Twitter today. Arianna Huffington, seen in the photo, the Editor-in-Chief and Co-Founder of The Huffington Post newspaper, recently started tweeting about her visit to Chicago for a movie shoot with the Wachowskis. Here's her first mysterious Tweet: "On plane to Chicago to take part in the Wachowskis' movie on Iraq from the perspective of the future." Whoa, whoa, wait what?! Did the Wachowski's get an entire movie into production without anyone knowing? And it's set 90 years in the future and about Iraq?

Arianna has also been sending out a few interesting photos from the set. The one you see at the top of this post came from her Tweet which read: "Do u want to know what I'll look like in 90 years? Here's a shot from the set of the Wachowskis' futuristic movie." She also even sent out a picture of her with Lana Wachowski, formerly known as Larry Wachowski, which proves that she really is working with them. But no one knows anything about this movie at all. There's no mention of it anywhere else on the web. So what exactly is it?

My speculation is that this might not be for a movie. Directors like this shoot all kinds of promos, shorts, TV specials, pilots, trailers, Oscar specials, things like that. While Arianna keeps saying it's for a "movie," I'm thinking it might just be for something else that isn't an entire movie. Her shoot simply involved her getting done up in "futuristic" make-up and sitting in front of some greenscreen. But I also thought back to Speed Racer. Whenever they would show the "press box" seats in that movie, they were shots that looked just like this. So who really knows? Does anyone out there have any info? Does anyone know what this is all about?

Update: According to a post on CHUD, this is part of the Wachowski's next project, but it's not actually in-production yet. They claim that the Wachowski's are simply doing some test shoots for their next project for a few days this month. If that is the case, it's not anything that's in-production or even has a greenlight, they're just testing how things will look or how to do it. They do say it's "for their next project" but that's all they even know. So if anything, all that update does is confirm that this is supposedly for their next movie, but no one still knows anything about it. The plot thickens! If anyone finds out anything, please let us know!

I hope they are working on a new film right now or will start in the next few months, although i thought i would take some time after Speed Racer since that was a finacial disaster for them.

Alex, this is nothing new. The 2007 TRANSFORMERS film started work way back in 2004. It's normal, and in fact, by the time sites like this one get news that something is "in production" it is actually almost finished or in Post-Production.

It may not be focused on the futuristic aspect of the movie but on how political & military decisions can affect the countries involved even 100 years later... probably with an ironic tone (much like how the U.S. supported the Talibans in the and now has to deal with the consequences). But im just guessing...

This sounds like the first act of the game, Metal Gear Solid 4, which was pretty much a futuristic war in the middle east, supposedly Iraq. I'm looking forward to hearing more.

Wachowkis are whacked and there movies are no longer groundbreaking. sounds like a cool concept but it will probably disappoint like Speed Racer.

sounds interesting. now, if they find someone to write a good script (i know, far cry) it'd be great. #10 as long as this has no stupid kid with a monkey, it'll be great! hahaha. no, seriously, Speed Racer was great for many reasons, but horrible for a few others.

Don't worry #7, you are not alone in that. I had not heard of his/her gender change business. I was reading a cool article about an interesting sounding movie and then: Bam! WTF? Larry is now Lana? Completely forgot about the movie, lol. But, to each their own. This movie sounds interesting, in an almost Southland Tales-kinda way.

God, I can't stand that woman. I can't understand half of what she is saying when she speaks. Honestly, probably a money grab (as her marriage and divorce was) since the Huffington Post is expected to close in a year or so due to a shortage of sufficient funds. Has she ever acted before? Yeah, the Wachowskis were a one-hit wonder. This simply confirms that everything after The Matrix was a train wreck.

At least they'll be able to cover over all the bits that made the war unpopular now, such as: It was illegal. It was based on fabricated, bullshit intel. It was pointless. It ruined our economy. It ruined our military - Ghana's conscription army has better quality soldiers than us now. We lost, again. It made us a global laughing stock. It made us unprepared to properly prosecute Afghanistan, where the war really should have been all these years. We'll lose there too, again. And I wonder if in 90 years, will we still use God as justification to attack others and fight for oil that'll be gone or obsolete by then anyway and will we still swallow the bullshit that our forces are "fighting for our freedom"? Seriously, WTF???? Our freedom has been under threat? Next time I tie a yellow ribbon, it'll be be around my wad.

Just noticed your comment now Merv. Most of the things you said like "unnecessary, or pointless" is subjective. Im fine if you feel that way but its not a fact. Anyway, our military is not, as a matter of fact ruined, and the economy was actually ruined by the Sub Prime Mortgage Collapse. Nice Try bud. Oh, and it wasn't illegal, typical dumb lib rhetoric.
