Jack Black Talks About Love for Charlyne Yi's Paper Heart
by Alex Billington
June 9, 2009
As part of a promotion for the summer indie comedy Paper Heart, comedian Charlyne Yi and her "fake" director went and interviewed a few other celebrities and comedians and asked them about love. In this short little video, they talk with Jack Black. It stars out on the right track, but soon derails, as the director tries to take hold and turn it into something it isn't. This actually mirrors the movie itself in a great way, as the documentary (which you can see the trailer for here) follows Charlyne Yi as she accidentally falls in love with Michael Cera, but then the director gets in the way and tries to turn it into something it isn't. Enjoy!
Charlyne Yi does not believe in love. Or so she says. Paper Heart follows Charlyne as she embarks on a quest across America to make a documentary about the one subject she doesn’t fully understand.
Paper Heart is directed by first-time filmmaker Nicholas Jasenovec. The screenplay was co-written by Jasenovec and Charlyne Yi, a stand up comedian who you may recognize from her cameos in Knocked Up or Semi-Pro. This debuted at the Sundance Film Festival this year and won the Waldo Scott Screenwriting Award. Overture Films will be bringing Paper Heart to limited theaters starting on August 7th this year.

I really dont think I could take an hour or two of this. Its got a fairly good premise but it... ah... just feels shit. I will probably watch it but deffinitely not at the cinema.

I hate this new "comedy" that is just based on awkwardness....is just not funny or interesting at all.

I concede...I think i'll be really just fine without watching this chattering movie.

Annyong @Andrius No see if the comedy is done correctly (like in the British version of 'The Office') then awkward comedy can be fantastic. This however, doesnt hit that mark and just falls flat. But it IS interesting if done right.

well despite what all you guys think, i like it. I love how jack black enunciates his words. he's hilarious! too bad charlyne isn't her wild and wacky self tho.. it would be good to see more of her oddball comedy on the big screen. can't wait to see it!

Holy Shit Black just made me freaking laugh out loud. I'm crying from it even. Black just has something about him, I can't pin point what it is exactly but it works. His personally is what is funny. P.s. Charlyne is odd to me, I'm not against her but her way of being is a bit too dopey for me maybe. Plus skinny/normal sized people with double chins bother me anyway too boot.
