Jay Baruchel on the Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse Movie

A year ago it was confirmed that Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel would be working with Mandate Pictures to develop a full-length version of their YouTube short Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse. While it was only a year ago, at the time it seemed like a completely different world - Seth Rogen hadn't been seen in Pineapple Express or Observe and Report yet, and Jay Baruchel hadn't kicked ass in Tropic Thunder or been cast in The Sorcerer's Apprentice. A year later and MTV has an update from Baruchel and he's actually got some good news. "Jay and Seth will at the very least happen in the next year and a half for sure."
Baruchel says "they’re working on the [Jay and Seth] script right now. All the concepts are there, all the beats are there, the treatment is there and a movie with us in it—we'll improvise half the thing anyway." Why is it taking them so long (besides that it's Hollywood)? "Seth and Evan are working on The Green Hornet right now, and that's just a big, massive undertaking that's taking up all their time and effort." Makes sense. "The minute [Hornet] is finished, we go into production on one of two things - we'll either do Jay and Seth vs. the Apocalypse or we'’ll do this hockey movie that Evan and I wrote called The Goon."
That Evan he mentions earlier is Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen's writing partner who co-created the Jay and Seth short. The story is simply about two loser guys who are dealing with "the apocalypse." From what I can tell (watch the trailer here), they look like they're the only ones who are alive, but maybe that's part of the story. It's not something I'm incredibly excited to see, but it seemed like a fun, unique concept and I'd still love to one day see it get made. As I said earlier, my impressions of Rogen and Baruchel have changed a bit since last year, but I feel like this is something I'd like to see even more now than last year. Thoughts?
