Must Watch: Broken Lizard's Slammin' Salmon Trailer
A few of you might have heard of Slammin' Salmon already, but if not, here's your chance to get acquainted! The comedy troupe behind Super Troopers, Club Dread, and Beerfest, known as Broken Lizard, is back with their latest comedy. This time they're making fun of the restaurant industry like you've never seen before. In Slammin' Salmon, the owner of a Miami restaurant (Michael Clarke Duncan) indebted to the mob institutes a contest to see what waiter can earn the most money in one night. I was expecting this to look good, but I didn't expect it to look this frickin' funny! Just watch the damn trailer already!
A big thanks to our friends at Collider for serving this up. If you enjoyed it as much as I did, you owe them some thanks for uncovering this so early! Either way, I want to hear your feedback. Funny or not?
Watch the red band trailer for Slammin' Salmon:
Slammin' Salmon is directed by Broken Lizard member and first-time director Kevin Heffernan. The screenplay was written by the Broken Lizard comedy troupe, made up of Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske. Their past films include Puddle Cruiser, Super Troopers, Club Dread, and Beerfest. Slammin' Salmon is debuting at the Slamdance Film Festival this January where it will be looking for a distributor. Stay tuned for plenty more in the next few weeks!

This looks bad, real bad.
Obiwan on Jan 7, 2009
Super troopers was a classic, i hope this does well.
Lycan22 on Jan 7, 2009
LoL ROFL I don't know what Obiwan was talking about. That looked funny as. Definitely going to watch that one.
TKaihea on Jan 7, 2009
Beerfest was marginally funny at best, but this actually looks quite entertaining! Seriously, theyve even got Michael Clark Duncan and the proffessor out from heros (who coincidentally doest seem to do much else...) ll ive this a go
Marcus on Jan 7, 2009
i don't know how good a movie this will be; but, the laughs seem pretty good.
dan on Jan 7, 2009
nyAHAHAH! loved it!
vanagwathiel on Jan 7, 2009
I just hope all the good stuff wasn't crammed into the trailer cause that does look funny.
Smiffy1 on Jan 7, 2009
Smiffy, i was just going to say the same thing. Club Dread was a let down after Super Troopers but Beerfest was hilarious so I have faith that this movie will be good.
Jmoney on Jan 7, 2009
I have to agree with Smiffy. I hate when movie trailers for comedies pack all the funny stuff into the trailer and then the movie is just down right unfunny aside from those parts. The good news is that it isn't a Happy Maidson production, that I am aware of, so I don't think that is going to happen here.
CK on Jan 7, 2009
Well, it looks like Michale Clarke Duncan sure was having a good time!...
Tom Brazelton on Jan 7, 2009
This looks like something you'd see on a straight-to-DVD release.
chet on Jan 7, 2009
Not really that funny.
The Awsome Dude With Sunglasses on Jan 7, 2009
"When you assume, you make an asshole out of yourself." Definitely using that line today.
Stylist Mick on Jan 7, 2009
You've got to be kidding. This looks like it's going to awful.
CatieLee on Jan 7, 2009
I'll hold judgement. Club Dread was downright terrible, but Beerfest actually surprised me and that flick had a terrible trailer. If ST 2 is gonna be at all like this, though, I'd rather they not make it. Or at least get some serious comedic talent behind the writing.
Fuelbot on Jan 7, 2009
"The loser gets a broken rib sandwich. I wasn't even trying to hurt him there." That was hilarious... Michael Clark Duncan looks like he really enjoyed this one.
LOL on Jan 7, 2009
This looks pretty funny, and it has Robin Scherbatsky in it. definitely checkin it out.
theotherbluth on Jan 7, 2009
the trailer looks terrible...who knows about the film
darthwhitey on Jan 7, 2009
Bet the people who said this trailer sucks also thought supertroopers was "childish". Me being NOT ONE OF THEM HAHAHAHA this is gonna be fucking hilarious.
Cody on Jan 7, 2009
looks funny... but should have just made it into a series on WB or something, cause not sure I have any interest in sitting in a movie theatre to see it
Dusty on Jan 7, 2009
Love the troooers and cant wait for part 2......................This will have to do till then I assume
insanartist on Jan 7, 2009
This looks ten times better than Beerfest. This might turn out to be the best Broken Lizard movie since Super Troopers which I could watch over and over again.
Da Man on Jan 7, 2009
Apparently, Super Troopers was a fluke.
Dead Moines on Jan 7, 2009
Super Troopers was only a marginally amusing comedy, I don't know why they keep making unfunny movies one after another. I enjoyed Super Troopers for what it was, Club Dread was Club Dreadful, and beerfest was again just ALRIGHT. This looks baaaaaaad.
tuwhitt on Jan 7, 2009
ill give it a shot cause i love broken lizard, but from what ive seen in this trailer: eeehhhh not so hot. seems a little yucky to me. doesnt seem like its that funny.
zach s on Jan 7, 2009
Jumpin' on the Top Chef bandwagon, appropriately enough. Looks better than their other movies - and I think I detect that Michael Clarke Duncan might just be better cut out for Comedy than the dramatic or serious roles he's had over the years. His turn in Sin City was something I TOTALLY thought should've gone to Zeus, who did a fine turn as the scene stealing inmate on the boat, in Dark Knight.
Hmmmm on Jan 7, 2009
I think we just saw the entire collection of comedic scenes from the movie in this trailer...doubtful it has anything left to offer....
moldybread on Jan 7, 2009
Was that Lance Henriksen partway through?
Zac on Jan 7, 2009
... that looks awful... i agree with moldybread up there. and i only laughed twice at those scenes.
dave13 on Jan 7, 2009
That looks pretty crappy. Really, that trailer was mildly humorous at about 2 points.
scm1000 on Jan 7, 2009
"Broken rib sandwich!" I Love it! Was that Lance Henrickson that came in the kitchen door near the end? Long live Broken Lizard!
Conrad on Jan 7, 2009
These guys seem to be one hit wonders, not a single laugh in the trailer. At least I got to stare at Cobie Smulders for a few seconds.
D on Jan 7, 2009
Cobie Smulders and Olivia Munn is enough to get me to watch.
nate on Jan 7, 2009
It looks just like all the other Broken Lizard's comedy movies, hilarious. But still stupid humor
Movieraider321 on Jan 8, 2009
was that long enough to have every joke from the movie in it? I think it was. And you know there's going to be a pee/poop/jizz in some food and serve it joke. Gotta have that staple of food-service comedy in there. Will the customer like it? Will the customer not like it? THIS IS DRAMA!!! --- Ed Wood reference (sort of (sorry)).
Squiggly on Jan 8, 2009
LOL you're right, this looks really funny! some crude stuff, i see, but funny trailer nonetheless!
Susana on Jan 8, 2009
I think I've watched Super Troopers at least once a year ever since it came out. I don't plan these things, it just happens. 😀 This looks pretty crazy, and I'm hoping that'll translate into "funny" when it's all laid out. Michael Clark Duncan looks like he might be the best thing about this, not that that's a bad thing. Go, Green Mile!!
kevjohn on Jan 8, 2009
It actually looks like it might be funny. I hope so, I really enjoyed Super Troopers.
Syphous on Jan 9, 2009
The trailer does look god awful, but so has every other Broken Lizard trailer. The movies however have always killed me. I love this comedy troupe.
L on Jan 9, 2009
i don't think I'd spend nine bucks on a ticket for this; looks like a short run and on to DVD release. I'll wait till it plays on The Comedy Channel in 6 months. It looks like Super Troopers is still a one-shot wonder.
justgroovy on Jan 12, 2009
Its kind of hard to screw up slapstick. You might never regarded as a classic in the comedy genre, but it will get you 12 dollars worth of laughs at least. I will likely be seeing this when it comes out.
Mr. Web Based Training on Jan 12, 2009
I'm hopeful. I didn't much like Beerfest, but I liked both Super Troopers and Club Dread. I work as a waiter myself, and the last comedy I saw dealing with the job, Waiting, just wasn't very good. But I like Broken Lizard, and the trailer looks like it'll be hilarious.
TJ on Jan 12, 2009
Michael Clarke Duncan looks amazing in this. Rest was kinda meh imo.
MBD on Jan 12, 2009
are you people insane this will be a great waste of time......my friends and i will have a blast seeing this
