Must Watch: Official Trailer for Max Mayer's Adam

Fox Searchlight has just debuted the official trailer for Max Mayer's Sundance hit Adam. This wonderful film ended up being one of my very favorite films I saw at Sundance this year (in addition to 500 Days of Summer, another Fox Searchlight film). And it just so happens that a quote from my review made its way into this trailer, which is quite exciting (you can see it at 1:27 in). Any of you who are fans of either Hugh Dancy or Rose Byrne or just want to see a trailer for one of the most wonderful films about falling in love you'll ever see, then please watch this. Adam still remains one of my absolute favorites this year so far.

A lonely, brilliant young man named Adam (Hugh Dancy), who has Asperger syndrome, develops an awkward relationship with his upstairs neighbor, the brainy yet beautiful writer Beth (Rose Byrne).

Adam is both written and directed by Max Mayer, of only the 1998 comedy Better Living previously and a few episodes of "Family Law". This first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and won the Alfred P. Sloan prize for a feature film with science as a theme. It was bought by Fox Searchlight for $1.5 million. Searchlight will now be bringing Adam to limited theaters starting on July 29th this summer.

is he blind too or just cant make eye contact, looks like most of the trailer hes looking off into space, pun intended. as for byrne i could def see this for her, really liked her in 28 weeks later then they ruined that movie for me by killing her at the end

@ #5 ohhhhh I thought she looked familiar. Wow, yeah she was great in that movie. I will probably pick this up on DVD sometime.

#5 My girlfriend did some research with kids with Asperger's (sp?) and she was focusing on them not being able to distinguish emotions from facial expressions. She said it is really common for them not to actually look at people when they talk because they misinterpret their emotions really easily. Congrats on getting mentioned Alex.

This looks like its going to be a really good movie. I have become a pretty big fan of Rose Byrne for a couple of years now. She is sexy as hell and really an amazing actress. I think Damages is one of the best shows on television, and her performance in Sunshine blew me away.

I bot love Hugh Dancy and Rose Byrne and Asperger's Syndrome really intrigues me, so I'll definitely be watching this though I doubt it will be shown here in my country.

I don't totally know which part of that trailer did it for me, but I am really excited to see it. I'll definitely make a trip to see this. my first reaction to the trailer was " wow, that was really charming" and then I read your quote, haha. Seems like a great flick.

My friend has aspergers, and it's much worse than this guys, but theres a spectrum so this guy might just be higher up. It's a type of autism, but it's higher functioning. At least this guy doesnt do the rythmic hand motions...... but they do have the obsession with a narrow subject matter down pat
