Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief Teaser

Damn that is a long title. AOL has just debuted the teaser trailer for Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief based on the book by Rick Riordan. 17-year-old Logan Lerman stars as Percy Jackson, a boy who discovers that he's the descendant of a Greek god and sets out on an adventure to settle an on-going battle between the gods. While this does seem to play a bit more to the younger demographic, the one thing I am excited about is the return of the teaser that barely shows any real footage. Also, don't forget, as dark as this looks, it's actually a comedy - Sean Bean plays Zeus and Steve Coogan plays Hades.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is directed by Chris Columbus, of everything from Adventures in Babysitting to Home Alone to Mrs. Doubtfire to Bicentennial Man to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets to the Rent remake to I Love You Beth Cooper from this year. The screenplay was written by Craig Titley of Scooby-Doo and the two Cheaper by the Dozen movies previously. This is based on Rick Riordan's series of children's books. 20th Century Fox is bringing Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief to theaters everywhere on February 12th, 2010 next year. Thoughts?

Chris Columbus - Director of the two WORST Potter movies. But maybe they will just use him to set up the franchise, thereby guaranteeing every subsequent film a knockout by comparison. His last good film was Mrs. Doubtfire. Remember? Back when Robin Williams was funny....

oh, and not a comedy the books are children's fantasy ala Potter. Not sure where you got the comedy reference Mr. Billington. This is NOT "Night at the Museum" type material. If Columbus goes that route with it, many a book fan will disown this film and any further movies. ugh, Columbus.......

If this is really a comedy, people wont think it is. This trailer reminds me of the Avatar trailer. How it centers around the boy, then shows you this massive geographical standpoint. Ill probably see it.

I don't know, this 1st trailer doen't show you much so I can't really say what I think of it yet, but I do like fantasy books so I hope its good... I have a bad feeling it'll be bad though... hope I'm worng. I'm worried about the screenplay...

Why are you people so hyped up about Chris Columbus's interpretation of The Lightning Thief? It's just a movie. It's not going to kill you all. I will see this movie as long as it follows the book's storyline. I don't really care about the characters (since Rick said Annabeth was originally brunette).

Last time I checked, Mount Olympus was in Greece, not in the States. And you cannot access it via the Empire State Building lifts. You just sacrifice a white goat. WTF, no respect for the Gods you Yankees. This said, the teaser is... teasing. Let's see what follows.

I finished reading the book the other day and well i wanted to read it before watching the movie... and i gotta be honest it kinda sucked.... I mean it was alright.. But now im reading the reviews and it seems to me like its just the same as the book... they could have changed it a little to make it better.. gotta say im a lil disappointed
