Rumor: Drew Barrymore May Direct Third Twilight Movie?!

Huh? So the little girl from E.T. always wanted to be a director? Who knew? Okay, this isn't as wild and crazy as it sounds at first glance, because Drew Barrymore actually just directed a movie starring Ellen Page called Whip It!. So unless she directs something in between now and next year, The Twilight Saga's Eclipse could be her second big directing gig. This rumor comes from Entertainment Weekly, where they say Barrymore is on a very short list of directors that Summit Entertainment is talking to about directing Eclipse. And while normally I don't care much about Twilight news, this is actually interesting for once.
The funny thing about this, is that I really don't have a reason for liking Drew Barrymore. I don't particularly think she's a phenomenal actress by any means, and I haven't seen Whip It! so can't really speak about her directing abilities. However, I guess it's just hearing a more trustworthy named associated with Twilight that makes me interested for once. Who knows if she could do a better job than Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) or Chris Weitz (New Moon), but I guess I'll say in the end, at least it will be different than the first two movies, and that may be a good thing for this franchise. Could she pull it off?

I agree! This is really interesting but I need to see Whip It before I can really judge.

Since E.T ? Dont you mean Firestarter, where she played a Mutant girl with powers to start fires! hahaha Yeah i dont know about her directing. Her choice in films hasnt been the best pick either. So will she direct the way she has seen her acting in films. Come on we may have another Charlies Angels on our hands with Vampires.. HAHAHAHAHA This would Blow ass monkey chunks if she did direct.

Its going to be Donnie Darko but with vampires. Hopefully its as confusing as Donnie Darko so people will stop going to see Twilight movies.

There's a lot more action in Eclipse - so I don't understand why Chris is not going to stay on - there's a huge fight in the third one, where-as in the second one there's just ... well I don't want to spoil but if I were Chris W. I would have signed on for number 3. All is well, Barrymore would be OK - as long as she is true to the story - it's the fantastic writing of Meyer that matters, and sticking with the cast. Wish I was native American, I'd try out for the casting. Hugs to all Twilight fans!

Barrymore couldn't possibly hurt the franchise, that's for sure. Twilight is some awful form of cocaine for [primarily] teenage girls. I am saying this as my opinion, and before the flames start: I have read all four books in the saga, I am not just going with a "hate fad". Since Stephenie Meyer's books avoid almost any form of conflict, as long as you were to keep the petty boy cast, anyone could direct these films. So, while I would not like to see Barrymore take on said movie -due to it being a stain on modern day literature- I do not believe that she would, could do a bad job directing it.
