Sam Raimi Addresses the Morbius Spider-Man 4 Rumors

Earlier in the year, director Sam Raimi let slip that he was a fan of the vampire villain Morbius from the Spider-Man comics. Everyone jumped on the news as a hint that Morbius might be a villain in Spider-Man 4, but we knew better than to jump to that conclusion this early on. Raimi was recently interviewed by CHUD and was pointlessly asked about the Morbius rumor yet again. "What? I don't now anything about that," Raimi said sarcastically at first. Instead of actually addressing the potential that we might see Morbius in Spider-Man 4, though, Raimi instead talked about why he likes vampires so much. Read on!

"I guess they're very appealing. The best of villains have some positive qualities. That is - they can be very sexy and alluring. And the way in which they attack you is very sensual, it's almost something you desire."

"That's why I like the fact that there is a cure against them in some of the lore, like garlic or the cross. That's really interesting, that there is a way to stop them. There's a whole story that can be made with all those elements. So its got some real rules and laws..."

"And that you can be turned into one of them is interesting also. Its got a lot of enticing qualities for a storyteller or an audience."

Of course, there's the possibility that Raimi could be hinting at the idea that he's got some vampire projects in development at Ghost House Pictures, his horror production company. His answers are a little too vague and too disconnected from Spider-Man 4 to push the rumor one way or another. And although I know the vampire trend is at its peak right now (thanks to Twilight), I really don't think Sony will put a vampire villain in the movie. Although it's unlikely that Morbius will show up in the end, I am very curious to see what villains Raimi ends up bringing to life in this next Spider-Man movie. Any good suggestions?

Not Morbius. Vampires were cool until those dumb Twilight books came out. Now its a cash cow thats being milked for all its got. If they put Morbius in, then they are doing it for a fad and that sucks, but its Sony so it will probably happen that way.

Morbius would be epic, if done right. but not with Toby. he's too young and it'd be awkward. looking at toby beat up is annoying. Lizard is still the best choice. they've been hinting at him in every movie! Kraven could also be fun, but not sure he fits well with Lizard. Lizard and Venom would have been ideal... but oh well.

My suggestion is that he do the franchise a huge favor and not make a 4th, 5th, and 6th movie. He's already ruined the franchise, I have no idea why Sony would let him make more unless it was only about the money. I, for one, don't feel like lining Sony's pocketbook for subpar films.

Ok so I was thinking, Gerard Butler as Kraven, who hears of a giant lizard terrorizing New York. He stumbles upon Spider-man who is also trying to not only defeat but also save Dr. Connors. Kraven then becomes annoyed/intrigued by SPider-man's abilities that he decides to hunt him as well. Whatya think??? Maybe turn the subways into an extremely dark setting reminiscient of the Alien films?

Hob Goblin, Carnage, Lizard(most likely although a lizard is just retarded) maybe a set up for morbious in this movie DONT FORGET THAT Spidey 4 and 5 are being filmed back to back So i'm sure the Sinister Six will show up Due to SANDMAN being alive and most likely DOC OCT is not dead i mean come on drowning??? no Villain drowns I'm sure he will try to get as many baddies as he can while he has tobi mcguire playing spider man so i'm sure he will bring us one other super hero to fight off every one in the next two movies Possible the human torch or hulk.... but most likely John Jameson will become man wolf or star god because we have allready seen him in this series

as long as raimi controls it and doesn't have sony forcing villians into the movie, they might be able to pull it off. but i think that the sudden introduction of the supernatural, as opposed to the more science driven character, will seem strange and unnatural for the franchise

I think the Kraven and Lizard combo would be the best idea. But some of the above comments got me interested to see Mysterio and Vulture as well as they're more "human" characters with the possibility for crazy cinematography and effects with Mysterio, and the possibility for a fresh environment in the jungles of Central America for The Vulture. Kraven hunting Man Spider would be a great idea as well because it would make Spiderman his own enemy, and Kraven is both a good and a bad guy which allows for cinematic gold.

Peter Parker knows who the Lizard really is, so he's trying to catch him. Enter Kraven who wants the Lizards head mounted on his wall. Away we go. In the end, Venom shows up again but this time HE'S NOT FUCKING LAME. Yeah ok, last part is a stretch.

It's really gotta be Lizard. Leaving him out at this point would be unacceptable since he's already a character in the movies. I think the Scorpion storyline would be good. What I really wish they'd do is start crossing over into another hero's storyline and maybe set up a future Civil War movie.

I think we'll see The Lizard and Mysterio. The Lizard is a given since we've seen Dr. Connors in the previous movies and we've also seen Mysterio. Yes, we have. Bruce Campbell has been playing Mysterio in all 3 movies, as the ring announcer/the doorman at the theatre/the host at the restaurant. THAT'S Mysterio!

Michael Morbius has been in the Spider-Man comics for almost 40 years it's a massive possibility he'll end up in the film...sorry to burst your bubble Alex but he's a front runner just like the Lizard

I would like to see a lizard/venom return movie.......(venom protected eddie brock from explosion) and either at the end it sets up for carnage or he confronts spider-man and venom in the middle. Another thing i would like to see is doc ock return and ether want to rebuild his machine or use scientific knowledge to help return the lizard to dr.conners. another thing ive been waiting for would be tombstone! Overall the villians i most want to see in the next 2 movies are 10.shocker (like his power) 9.rhino (would like 2 see the fights) 8.vulture (would be cool with the wings) 7.electro (love his power) 6.Tombstone (Love the character) 5.Scorpion (would like to see the scorpion costume) 4.lizard (good villian been setting him up for years) 3.Venom ( Very cool villian needs worl replace actor make bigger) 2.Doc ock (love the 8 arms was played so good in spiderman 2(the best movie)would like return) 1.CARNAGE!!!!(the best villian would be so fun to watch as long as he is as ruthless as he should be) thyere are a few others i would like to see but i think these would be best.

LIZARD AND VULTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!! and at the end they should it will be so so cool that they open the door to spidrman 5 by introducing in some way the appearence of carnage and hobgoblin dude taht will be awesome something like that you see someone entering to the osbourne mansion now abbandoned and seeing him stealing the gobling stuff and for carnage.... shit i don´t know but it will bve awesome and i will absolutley love seeing the film version of the vulture

The Scorpion would be cool. And a crossover with The Punisher, that would be awesome. I had a Spidey comic book when I was a kid and it had The Punisher shooting Spidey's web-shooters off his wrists. Spidey couldn't believe The Punisher was that good. And his Spider senses didn't tingle because technically, his life wasn't in danger. It's always cool when good guys fight each other because of some misunderstanding started by some villain. I'd like to see them develop a movie devoted to just good guys brawlin' on each other.

well carnage would be great to pull carnage off it needs someone to be like Jim carrey because everyone no that he can be serious after number 23 and all his comedy movies because if you think about it carnage have that funny crazy side and Jim carrey would fit that perfectly he also have so much experience he can really pull it off also Lizard or black Cat would make spiderman 4 A huge hit and that is what I have to say about that but i really prefer carnage

The Lizard and Scorpion would be an awesome combo. Since Morbius wasn't really a villian, in fact most of the time he was actually good, he just had a thirst for blood that he couldn't control. Have him team up with Spider-Man to stop Scorpion and the Lizard.

I for one didn't have a problem with the amount of villians in 3(they could have done better with Venom) since the number has so far equaled the number of the sequal. So it should be the Lizard ofcourse, cuz he's already there, Kraven who captures the lizard and then sets his sights on Spidey, Scorpion hired by Jamison to catch/kill Spider-man, and The Chameleon who's running around committing crimes as you-know-who. I also like Mysterio and Black Cat as others have said.

Sigh, all these new school fanboys asking for Carnage or Morbius. The next villains in Line absolutely HAVE to be Elektro, Vulture, Mysterio and Kraven. Anyone else is second rate, those guys right there are some of the main Spidey mastermind villains that have gone unadressed, especially Elektro.
