All About Steve Trailer

It's official - I'm declaring today that Sandra Bullock has nuked the fridge. Fox has debuted the trailer for a new romantic comedy called All About Steve and it looks absolutely awful. This is the exact kind of cinematic crap that Middle America eats up that only further stuffs the pockets of this industry (specifically Fox) with millions of dollars that could be better spent elsewhere. Sadly I know it's going to make a lot of money but I'm going to stand my ground in opposition to it, because this utterly useless waste of celluloid shouldn't even be in movie theaters at all. Watch this if only to fuel your rage as much as mine.

Watch the trailer for All About Steve:

All About Steve is directed by wanna-be hotshot filmmaker P.T. Dangle, who is making his feature debut with this after directing numerous shorts. The script was written by Kim Barker, of the also awful License to Wed previously. 20th Century Fox is bring All About Steve to theaters everywhere on March 6th. I'm truly hoping that everyone reading this will be watching Watchmen on that day instead of this.

Yes, this is a typical and very predictable romantic comedy but you shouldn't hate it so much. Millions of Americans like this type of movie not that it has any realism at all. But, that is the point of escapism. Everyone has the right to be entertained. Even smug wannabe critics in LA. Some people might even be dragged to it by their girlfriend even people that have seen even more films than any fanboy.

Well its not like she is in every film like Shia Labeuf, damn Alex you know shes gotta eat too. Come one, I mean she really hasnt been in anything really at all. just one here and there.

6

Why did everyone in this movie decide to dye their hair fake blond? It's weird. Anyway, whatever. Anyone has any news of movies I actually want to watch?

Alfredo on Jan 8, 2009

7

Come on Alex laugh a little! You know you chuckled when Thomas Haden Church said "What? Did somebody fall in the mine?" and started laughing, funny. And when Keith David was rewinding it Don't ddeny you know you were!

hmmm.... no. not good. hayden church was funny tho

The end of that trailer made me chuckle. Not something I would see in theatres, but it doesn't look horrible. It's official--Alex Billington has nuked this review. Another terrible review. At least this guy has stopped including The Dark Knight in every single unrelated thing he writes--though it does look like he's starting to do the same thing with Watchmen.

Good bye Sandra Bullock s career !

Dark Padme on Jan 8, 2009

Ha ha, gotta agree with #7 but yeah i'm not gonna be seeing this. A perfect example of a movie where you can judge the entire movie's worth by it's trailer *cough* twilight fans *cough*

That picture makes her look like she has AIDS. Movie sure looks like shit, but I'm a man. SO this type of film ain't exactly marketed towards me.

Aaaaaaand another winner from the wizards at Fox.

What fuels my rage is that dumb term "nuked the fridge". Please don't. It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. There was a lengthly discussion about it over on DVDTalk.com Everyone there gave it a huge thumbs down over there too.

Film Fan on Jan 8, 2009

15

Also....this doesn't look THAT bad. Sure, I won't run out to see it. But there is an audience. And there are far worse "comedies" out there. "BrideWars" comes to mind. Currently at a 0% on RT. Or "Four Christmases".

Film Fan on Jan 8, 2009

16

I thought you meant nuked the fridge as in got rid of it, because she looks disgustingly anorexic.

Kaycee Williams on Jan 8, 2009

17

Okay. I've watched a ton of terrible trailers this year, but this is the only one I didn't even crack a smile at. Seriously. This is exactly why Fox needs to stay away from Watchmen.

wtf does Nuked the Fridge mean?

"This is the exact kind of cinematic crap that Middle America eats up ... this utterly useless waste of celluloid shouldn't even be in movie theaters at all." Statements like this make me grateful we still live in a free society where people get to decide for THEMSELVES what they will see rather than be force fed what some wanna-be elitist decides what's good for them. God bless the free market! That said, I'm avoiding this movie like the plague.

Brad on Jan 8, 2009

ALEX... when I get back out to LA on the 19th.. I am gonna smack you for the "Middle America" statement

looks like the only good part of the movie will be when she falls down the mine, id be watching that part over and over too haha

harrison on Jan 8, 2009

23

She looks kinda old in that movie with Ryan Reynolds too. Pretty soon, she'll be resigned to playing the young lead character's wacky mom, which I'm fine with. It's not the end of her career, maybe the end of her 15-year stretch of countless romcoms.

will smith as hancock to the rescue! on Jan 8, 2009

24

i don't give a damn about free society and oh everyone has their kind of movies and shit. i know chicks that wouldn't even want to see this piece of crap.

Corey B. on Jan 8, 2009

25

This movie will be pretty funny. I'm not saying it's going to be good, just funny. The supporting cast looks pretty decent. I saw DJ Qualls, Thomas Hayden Church, and Kevin James's brother in there. If you think about it the funniest parts of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days are when Kate Hudson is being a clingy freak. This movie is essentially about that character, and Bullocks character looks like a sarcastic version of Hudson's character in How to Lose a Guy. With that said, as far as romantic comedies go you can tell just by the previews that its going to rely on implausibility and slapstick for humor instead of a genuine wit.

I absolutely love the term, "Nuke The Fridge." It is genius. Whoever came up with that term should be given an award.

I guess Spyd 3 didn't give Haden Church the boost he was looking for after Sideways...I hope the same doesn't happen with Rourke in the upcoming Iron Man villain spot following the hype for The Wrestler.

I might be hallucinating, but it seems like Sandra Bullock movies seem to always open against bigger pop culture blockbusters as a means of counter programming. I'm too lazy to look it up, though. Bullock is looking particularly leathery these days.

30

aww lol i didn't think it looked bad! I'm not like, "that was hilarious, must see it!" but it looked alright to me. and I did think that falling into the mine part was funny! yeah her blonde hair is odd though. .. i like her red boots! 🙂

32

Alex Billington overreaction!!! I think it looks like a funny, cute little movie it may not have anything to do with a comic book superhero, the type of movie that only internet bloggers write about, but this film looks very entertaining and well done on Bullock for being able to still make these movies and be very sucessful at them for so long. Alex, whats your next story on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen? Ah no suprise.

Luke on Jan 9, 2009

you count me in on seeing the watchman instead 1,000,000% come on this movie is down right FUCKING terrible i think this movie was for the money rather to make a movie and the money spent making the movie could be spent for giving the money back for even making us look at this film.

Recent studies have shown that viewing too many romantic comedies creates unrealistic expectations in their viewers. (All Scientists involved in studies live at home w/ their moms & haven't been out on a date in a bit, as well.) Looks like Sandra's ditchin' the Net & Speed for the fast track to early retirement: the Rom Com barrage ... wouldn't be the first time it's happened! (Hugh Grant)

Roy on Jan 9, 2009

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw the release date - hopefully everyone will be watching Watchmen when this garbage is unfortunately released. Sandra Bullock should not be aloud to be featured in movies - she's awful! (and terribly tacky!!!)

Conrad on Jan 9, 2009

54

ugh The Spirit was good, this doesn't look like a pure pile of shit, its the kind of thing that maybe it's mud maybe it's shit but you want to avoid it regardless, then when you get pushed into it, you realize its just on your shoe and it's not god awful.

Movieraider321 on Jan 9, 2009

Yep, this is one of those kind of movies to see when you don't want to have to think and just enjoy a movie for the sake of it. It's got some humor in it...I think it will do well, and it's great to see Sandra Bullock back on screen...those red boots reminds me of a friend of mine that has a love for white boots, no matter what season. I guess these boots are made for walkin'...lol.

63

I wouldn't go see the movie and I'm from middle America...But I want the option to go see it...I will watch it once it hits T.V. and my girl will probably like it...Alex and people like him should learn that they only speak for themselves also. Why do we need people to tell us what to see and not too see? How easy a job is that. Get a real skill like us Middle American's. Sandra Bullock is looking kind of old and I'm finding that sexy! I think she's hot now!

Smooth on Jan 11, 2009

64

Well, I don't quite get it. You say that this movie "...looks absolutely awful" which I agree but when referring to the movie FIGHTING you say "...it looks pretty badass. Well, it does look kind of cheesy, but thanks to Terrence Howard and even Channing Tatum...". How can you say that thanks to Channing Tatum this movie is badass??? Channing Tatum Should NOT GET ANY MORE ACTING ROLES. He is absolutely one of the worst actors around!!! This just says that when it comes to taste everyone got their own. Just giving my two cents.

This is an insulting article. There are actually decent people with good taste in film who would like to see this movie. Certainly not me, but people. It's ridiculous and immature to call out anyone who might find this appealing and accuse them of doing wrong just for wanting to see a typical romantic comedy. And what's with the Watchmen shout-outs. Honestly.

There is nothing wrong with Sandra Bullock, she just has no choice like many actors to take the crap roles.

James on Jan 19, 2009

74

So is this a gender-switched All About Eve remake, or just a bad takeoff of the title? These naff films can be alright for an entertaining night in with friends and some drinks (anyone see Mr Woodcock, etc?), where it's an amusing sideline but maybe not ultimately the only reason for you being there.... but I don't get how you'd bother to watch it in the cinema when you can't happily chat away to your pals, share a pizza, or have a drink other than 40 fl. oz. of watered-down soda.

1) The movie looks cute, might have a few laughs in it. 2) The only guys that don't appreciate romantic comedies are those without a significant other in their life (I said "appreciate", not "like"). 3) what does "nuke the fridge" mean? sounds stupid.

You know, it's hard times for alot of people these days, what with lay offs, expensive gasoline, buying less or more money. Give Sandra a break! As far as that goes, she is bringing comedy and fun into the world. Those who complain, what are you doing to bring comedy into the world and brighten somebodys day with laughter? Lighten up and enjoy! Life is too short! I think she's just great!

Connie on Jan 29, 2009

I agree with LIGHTEN UP! It is a comedy for a quick laugh, nothing to get all hot about! If you can't learn to laugh at yourself then maybe the faults in you, not the film

82

Not sure about the film, some funny parts, kinda stupid (which it's suppose to be!) definitely not worth getting angry or insulted about! I just wish Sandra got better roles, she could do so much better, but stick to COMEDY!!!

I agree "Furiture Toronto", this look like a light hearted, easy comedy that will be fun to watch. I think Sandra Bullock is great too, good to see her back on screen.

Ted on Feb 4, 2009

84

Alex, License to Wed was a stinker, but this trailer was funny. (Even the trailer for LTW was lame.) You seem to think that American Cinema is all about dark adaptations of freakin' comic books. Believe it or not, there's room for more than that, lotsa room. I'd certainly rather see Bullock exercising her comic chops than watch her make the mistake of playing some morose freak from another planet. And to all like Alex who complain romantic comedy is predictable... That's like complaining that horror films are scary or that comicbook films follow the edicts of that genre: "Can you believe it? Another disaffected superhero with superhero powers!? What!? He defeated the villain!? Bo-o-o-oring." Believe me, that's been done to death, but Alex and his ilk line up for the stuff. So, if romantic comedy isn't for you, don't see it. But admit that you don't like the genre, then go buy your tix to the next ComicCon and crow about what you know instead.

frank on Mar 5, 2009

85

I actually really like romantic comedies, but then I am such a wuss, I can't watch anything violent - I get too scared! Plus Sandra Bullock is one of my faves.
