Sony Adapting the inFAMOUS Video Game into a Movie

Either the video game movie trend is picking up again in the next few years, or this is just leftover news from Comic-Con. Sony Pictures has pre-emptively picked up a pitch to adapt the inFAMOUS video game into a feature film. inFAMOUS, which hit shelves last May, centers on bike messenger Cole MacGrath, who survives an explosion that destroys a large part of Empire City only to find that he has new electricity-derived super powers. The game, designed for Sony's PlayStation 3, allows the player to use his powers for good or evil, as MacGrath's karma affects how the city's people and infrastructure deal with him. Read on!

Screenwriter Sheldon Turner (The Longest Yard, Up in the Air) will be writing the screenplay. Avi Arad and Ari Arad will produce. "What excited me most about the game was it was the first of which I've come across that had a big idea and a character arc," Turner said. "It is, I believe, the future of gaming. The game, while big and fun, is at its core a love ballad to the underachiever, which is what our hero, Cole McGrath, is." I haven't personally played the game, however the photos from it look pretty cool and it sounds like a good concept. Of course, let's hope they do a good job adapting it, because most video game movies (still) suck.

That's crazy, cuz I just finished beating this game like a week ago and I told my cousin that they would probably convert this into a film--it's a dope enough game to translate into a movie, just as long as Hollywood doesn't royally f*ck it up (ahem, Max Payne!)

What happened to the Mass Effect film Avi Arad was interested in making? If any game had great potential to be a fantastic film, it's one fleshed out as much as Mass Effect.

This game sucked and Max Payne was rather spot on to the game. For an adaptation, and the visuals, wow.

Wow looks like sony is playing the movie card to get more Playstation 3's sold. Even though The XBox 360 has the 3 rings of death which happened to me twice i still back the 360. Sony shouldn't have tried to milk every1 when it first came out. Oh yea. the ps3 games .....they suck.

Do it now! I Want it to happen I loved this game and the story will suit a film perfectly. Not too sure about the director. However the arad team should do this justice!

Sweet! I was thinking about this when I finished the game last month. You could do a trilogy, each island being a movie cause each island ends in an epic fashion. I think Jenson Ackles would be good as Cole.

I have did a actor comparison and I see Sam Worthington as playing the role of Cole McGrath in the "Infamous" movie or the option of two others that may come close to looks and voice; Jason Statham and Wenworth Miller. I'm a huge fan of "Infamous" and have achieved every trophy to see, and plus to know that these are the best picks for a Cole McGrath in the movie.
