Story Details on Broken Lizard's Greek Gods Comedy

We already brought you one update from the Broken Lizard guys earlier this week (about Super Troopers 2), so why not another! Collider talked with Jay Chandrasekhar and Kevin Heffernan recently and while he ended up getting a lot of great details out of them about all kinds of Broken Lizard projects (you can find all of that here), the one that caught my eye the most was a project called Greek Road. You might have heard of it before, but if not, Kevin explains the concept of this Greek gods comedy and Jay gives the rundown on why it hasn't happened just yet. The good news is that it actually sounds like a fun script.
Kevin gives us a rundown on Greek Road: "I play Plato, and Steve [Lemme] plays Socrates. And I'm a wrestling recruit at Athens University and I fail my freshmen seminar, 'Basic Thought', and so they get me a tutor. Socrates [helps] tutor me to pass. So it's a sword and sandal kind of movie. We've never been able to raise the budget to get to do our Clash of the Titans." Believe it or not, I actually like that pitch. And as for getting it made, Jay adds: "[Warner Brothers] loved it and they were about to make it and they just couldn't get [a budget they wanted], so they said, well what else do you want to do and we said Beerfest."
Being a big fan of the Broken Lizard guys, crazy concepts like that actually seem quite entertaining. It's the same as Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey fanatics being continually supportive of their movies even when they involve insane over-the-top concepts. And I guess I've been anxious to see them get back into the swing of things since I didn't like Beerfest that much and since we haven't seen anything from them since that hit in late 2006. Thankfully they've got Slammin' Salmon due out this year. I hope they find the budget to make this one day. What do you think - does this Greek Road concept sound interesting at all to you?
