Watchmen Video Journal: The Minutemen

It's that time of the month and that means we've got the latest Watchmen video journal to share with all of you. Empire presents the 10th of 12 behind-the-scenes video journals chronicling the development of the film. Today's video journal focuses on the Minutemen - a group of "costumed avengers" that was formed before the events of Watchmen in 1939 and disbanded ten years later in 1949. It does a great job of explaining the overall concept of Watchmen - the idea of what if people dressed up in costumes and got into the vigilante business? For fans of Watchmen and newcomers alike, this is a great intro video.

Watchmen is directed by Zack Snyder (of Dawn of the Dead and 300) and is written by David Hayter (The Scorpion King, X-Men, X-Men 2) and Alex Tse. The film is an adaptation of Alan Moore's highly acclaimed award winning graphic novel of the same name. Watchmen officially arrives in theaters everywhere on March 6th, 2009. I really hope that one day there will be a bluray disc with the complete movie and all the extras and features the showed this far. i really loved the LOTR extended edition dvd sets, something similar for watchman is the least i hope for. oh and SCREW YOU FOX!!

As a collector of golden age comics, it's really cool to see something that looks like they came to life. I hope they do a small segment of The Minutemen in action!

I still don't really get why the early Comedian has a mustache, if they were stickin' so close to the comics. Would that've really been too much to ask? Nonetheless, I remain psyched and eager for a favorable ruling. Otherwise, I call for nation-wide riots. Eff it. WORLD-Wide.

#13 I think they're doing (or done, by now) "Minutemen" footage for the upcoming mock-umentary "Under The Hood". It would be cool, if they did Saturday matinee serials featuring them. Oh yeah, screw the Fox Studios.
