Wes Anderson Says He Wants to Make a Movie 'in Space' Soon
Arriving in theaters in just a few more weeks is Fantastic Mr. Fox, the latest film from indie director Wes Anderson. As always, it's our nature to ask him about what he'll be directing next, and that's exactly what Access Hollywood did when Anderson showed up at the red carpet this past weekend for Fantastic Mr. Fox. "The next thing, I have an idea for something that’s just my own," he said, revealing that he wouldn't be adapting anything next (for better or worse). But beyond that he's got an even bigger idea. "I'd like to do a movie in space," he revealed. A Wes Anderson science fiction movie? This will be a sight to see - I'm in!
"If possible I would like to try to actually shoot some of it on location in space. That’s my preference."
Whoa, one step at a time, Mr. Anderson! I'm sure they can get someone (NASA?) to take them into space to get a few establishing shots if needs be, but I don't know about shooting entire scenes with actors, that's a bit crazy. Although, I love that Wes Anderson thinks this way. I mean, this is the guy who went and lived at Roald Dahl's house while he was writing the script for Fantastic Mr. Fox. This is one of the reasons why I love him. I don't know how the movie will turn out, it could be a bit too weird to really work, but I love that he's thinking outside of the box in this way. It'll be interesting to see him experiment in the sci-fi genre.
However, for now, it sounds like this is a long way out. We've got Fantastic Mr. Fox due out soon, another original movie following that, and all of his old classics (like Rushmore and The Life Aquatic) to watch in the meantime before he gets into space to shoot this movie. Maybe it's not even sci-fi? Did you think of that?
