Whoa, Michael Bay Wants to Direct a 'Small Movie' Next?

Is that a joke? No, apparently not. When Paramount announced a date for Transformers 3, and Michael Bay fired back saying "not so fast, I need a year off," everyone thought he was just being an egotistical bastard. The truth of the matter is that he just wants to make a small movie, like Christopher Nolan or Steven Soderbergh. "I would like to take a year off," Bay recently told MTV. "I might do a small movie in-between [Transformers 2 and 3]." And what the heck would this movie be? "[It's based on] a true story, and it's very funny, it's a dark comedy." he reveals, adding that, "it's like a Pulp Fiction-type of movie."
Even if you don't like Michael Bay or his movies, one thing is for sure - that guy can make headlines. I think I've written more about him and everything he says than any other director in the last six months. To be honest, I actually like him. Although I'm certain a Michael Bay "dark comedy" is still going to be pretty commercial (and will probably contain one explosion at least somewhere), it could be great to see him stretch his legs on something that doesn't have a budget over $200 million. Hell, call me crazy, but I'm in until we hear the concept or the plot. Or maybe this is all just some more Michael Bay disinformation?
