Flame and Citron Trailer

IFC has finally debuted an official US trailer for the Danish WWII thriller Flame & Citron. I'm one of the few people who has actually seen this (read my review) and has been supporting it as much as possible. I've been comparing it to The Untouchables but set in WWII and featuring two awesome Danish assassins. This film stars Danish actors Mads Mikkelsen (from Casino Royale) as Citron and Thure Lindhardt as Flame. Lindhardt you may recognize most recently from Angels & Demons, but this movie is his calling card - he is absolutely phenomenal in this and deserves recognition. I strongly encourage everyone to check this out!

Flame & Citron aka Flammen & Citronen is directed by Danish filmmaker Ole Christian Madsen, of Pizza King, Kira's Reason, and Prague previously. The screenplay was co-written by Madsen and fellow Danish writer Lars Andersen, of Sinan's Wedding and Pizza King previously. The film is inspired by the real life stories of freedom fighters Bent Faurschou-Hviid (aka "Flame") and Jorgen Haagen Schmith (aka "Citron") in Denmark during World War II. This first premiered at the Telluride and Toronto Film Festivals last year and was picked up by IFC Films. Flame & Citron will arrive in limited theaters starting on July 31st.

Mmmmm, danish... Looks good, although I can already see a stand-off between the two protagonists already, which is a bit staid.

Dutch, Danish, Swiss, Swedish so what, Americans don't know the differens and they don't care

Como on Jul 9, 2009

Looks interesting. I'll watch it. #13 I hope you're not American. If so, you just did a good job portraying the "stupid and ignorant American" stereotype.

I saw the film back in February at the Glasgow Film Festival - its Denmark's big budget answer to Defiance (the film adaptation of the Bielski brothers starring Daniel Craig). This was the first film I'd seen Thure Lindhardt act in, well before I saw him again in Angels & Demons - imagine my disappointment after having gone and seen his relatively minor supporting role in Angels & Demons! Its not just Lindhardt and Mikkelsen who give excellent performances, the rest of the supporting cast (Stengade, Mygind, Berkel) portrayed their characters superbly as well. Overall, I'd rate it a 8/10 - a must-see film for anyone who likes movies such as Defiance and Schindler's List.

Zo zie je maar weer hoe belangrijk ons land voor ''die'' Amerikanen is 🙂 Alex kent godvriedvanboeljon het verschil nieteens tussen Deens en Nederlands, shame on you... Just joking Alex 🙂

Saw it here in Denmark last year, I really loved it. It's quite obvious that they've changed the trailer significantly though, playing more on the action and adding horrible weapon sound effects. Don't expect an action film.

everything about this trailer makes me believe the movie will be outstanding.......looking forward to seeing it.
