Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre Trailer

Okay horror fans, this one is for you! Thanks to Twitch, the trailer for Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre has arrived, and it's about as odd and creepy as you can get for a horror/thriller set on the open sea. First things first, yes, this is in English, even though it's a Icelandic production and directed by a Icelandic filmmaker. Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre is "an epic tale about a group of whale watchers, whose ship breaks down and they get picked up by a whale fisher vessel. The Fishbillies on the vessel have just gone bust, and everything goes out of control." It's actually looks pretty damn cool, so check it out.

Watch the trailer for Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre:

For more info, head over to the official website:

Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre is directed by Icelandic filmmaker Júlíus Kemp, of Blossi/810551 and Wallpaper: An Erotic Love Story previously. The screenplay was written by Sjón Sigurdsson, of Regína and Anna and the Moods previously. The film stars all Icelandic actors, including the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre's Leatherface, Gunnar Hansen, who plays Captain Pétur. This will hit theaters in Iceland courtesy of Sam Film in September of 2009, though it doesn't have a US distributor just yet. We can expect to hear more on this in the next few months, as I expect it to show up in the Cannes film market. Stay tuned!

Only 2 words describe this trailer "holy crap"

Tom W on Mar 17, 2009

Som it's a movie about how a whale-killer gets put out of business by the greenies, his wife leaves him, and he decides to take his revenge upon them!!

Woo-ish on Mar 17, 2009

WOOOO finally a horror film based in the country of my ancestors! looks tight

erik on Mar 17, 2009

The trailer was awesome visually but i dont think it really said anything fo what the movie is about. still seems interesting

PJ H on Mar 17, 2009

That was a rough comment Nick... We post EVERY trailer that comes out, and feature niche ones like this occasionally as well. As you can tell from some of the comments above, people do like this. And you can watch every other trailer here for the ones that you do want to see.

im with no.1, holy crap

darrin on Mar 17, 2009

Watching human suffering is getting pretty dull viewing these days.

Crapola on Mar 17, 2009

Wow. As much as I thought nick, you're an asshole, that was a really terrible trailer. Pretty bad.

This looks great...I love the lack of dialogue in the trailer...definitely gets me interested.

Pretty juicy sound effects. Sounds like they massacred an entire fruit section at the grocery.

after midnight meat train, this looks pretty tame.

dan on Mar 18, 2009

Iceland will be pissed on this. Same as Slovakia for Hostel.

DS on Mar 18, 2009

Looks pretty interesting. Straight to DVD I assume?

Atomic Popcorn on Mar 18, 2009

Nr. 14, why would you say Iceland will be pissed? This is an Icelandic production with Icelandic cast. So why would we get pissed off? I am pretty excited about seeing an Icelandic horror film at last.

Páll on Mar 18, 2009

Was that Ernie Hudson?? LOL

Bezelbub on Mar 18, 2009

this look horrible

This movie looks like complete shit. We are all now dumber for seeing this. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Parker on Mar 18, 2009

Don't really see why people think this movie looks bad. Sure, the trailer could have been a little flashier but the idea is great, the direction looks solid, the acting (what we saw of it) looks better than most horror, it's foreign (which, in terms of horror, usually means "better"), and it looks violent as hell. And since it's movie about being stuck on a boat with killers, it's going to have that nice claustrophobic feel that works so well in horror. Looks great...I'll be keeping an eye out.

Kevin on Mar 18, 2009

Oh, and one more many of you that said this looks bad are creaming themselves at the trailer for Transformers 2? Because that trailer makes it look like that's going to be an even worse movie than the first one...pure Noise Porn.

Kevin on Mar 18, 2009

Who wouldn't kill someone if they were in a movie this slow and boring (felt like a 30min clip). can't be too good if they have already shown us the killers face. maybe the other ten people on the boat can team up . he olny has a axe.

watcher on Mar 19, 2009

I haven't seen the movie, but the trailer seems pretty good. I mean you can't really call this shit when you look at the pile that we call horror now.

9001 on Mar 19, 2009

crazy sound editing!

Conrad on Mar 19, 2009

meeh, nah, want more.

xerxex on Mar 25, 2009

S.O.S. The term "Slasher" movie is outdated. It should be "Hack" movie. The term succeds on many levels. By the way, the "juicy" noise is an old school sound effect - an ax hitting a cabbage I'm guessing. And Alex, your reviews are pretty sad....

Spike Murdock, Poet-at-Large on Apr 7, 2009

But whale meat is delicious - what's not exploded anyway.

gakera on May 28, 2009

Ok, I just wanna say ONE thing! I'm Icelandic and this is our FIRST horrorfilm! Common, give us credid for making something that good at the first try!

Soffía on Sep 12, 2009

Malcolm J. Brenner I forgot, I just wanted to say, like 2% of our population eats whale meat, and our freezers are not overflowing... Where do you get your source? Just asking... Svo þið sem eruð að böggast í þessarri mynd getið bara haldið kjafti takk fyrir!!!
