Youth in Revolt Producer Developing 'Pictures of You' Next
by Ethan Anderton
December 6, 2009
Pun intended! Since Youth in Revolt has been in the can for some time now and is awaiting its release early next year, producer David Permut has had plenty of time to develop his next project which Variety reports will be the Josh Friedlander written Pictures of You. The romantic comedy revolves around a teenage boy who finds a lost camera on the beach. After developing the film, he ends up on a quest to find the girl of his dreams, whose picture was discovered inside the camera. And while the story already sounds cheesy as hell, I foolishly hope the filmmakers can resist the urge to include the awful song of the same name in the film.
I'm wondering what decade this will take place in since I've only ever seen about two teens with a camera that wasn't digital or in their phone and this specifically mentions getting film developed (but obviously that's not that hard of a re-write). If this script and story sounds familiar, you might remember that it was mentioned briefly in 2007's Black List of the best unproduced screenplays. Once again, this sounds like a another hokey chick flick, but depending on the cast and amount of comedy, I'd love to see another romantic comedic in the same vein as Forgetting Sarah Marshall. We'll keep you posted on further developments.
