Quentin Tarantino Adds Avatar to His Top 11 Films of 2009
Yes, this is a weird update, but I always love hearing what Quentin Tarantino has to say, even if it's sometimes quite crazy. So back in December, Tarantino unveiled his Top 8 movies of 2009. It was an odd list and actually incomplete, because Tarantino hadn't seen every movie from that year that he wanted to. Well, Tarantino has now seen everything and has quickly put together a final list. It showed up in British tabloid writer Baz Bamigboye's Daily Mail update (via The Playlist and contains most of those old films as well as some interesting new ones. "My movie aside, I cannot NOT list Avatar at the top," Tarantino said.

Jonathan Levine Directing 'Warm Bodies' Zombie Love Film
For nearly a year we heard nothing from The Wackness director Jonathan Levine, but in two weeks time he's lined up two high profile projects. The first one was I'm With Cancer, the second one is Warm Bodies. The Playlist was the first to break the news that Levine will be directing the "zombie-love" project described as Twilight meets Shaun of the Dead. The story follows an existentially tormented zombie named "R" who begins an unlikely friendship with the human girlfriend of one of his victims. The blossoming relationship then starts a chain reaction that will transform him, his fellow zombies and maybe the whole lifeless world.

Ben Stiller is Top Choice to Hear Mark Romanek's The Voices
Nowadays the hip thing for comedy actors to do is jump into drama, or a film that is completely different in comedic tone than any of their previous endeavors. Recently Robin Williams has had the most drastic fluctuations jumping from the screwball Disney "comedy" Old Dogs, to the pitch black dark comedy World's Greatest Dad, but actors like Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler and even Will Ferrell have found a place in films with a more serious tone. Ben Stiller looks to be next in line, not only starring in Noah Baumbach's indie Greenberg, but now SlashFilm says Stiller may star in Mark Romanek's dark comedy The Voices as well.

Martin Campbell Likens Green Lantern to Iron Man in Tone
With all the major casting on Martin Campbell's adaptation of DC Comics' Green Lantern finally out of the way, now we can focus on exactly how Campbell will be executing the Green Lantern. No, not how to kill him, but rather, the kind of tone that Campbell is going for. Luckily Collider got some time with Campbell and he comes right out with it: "It will be much more in the tone of Iron Man. It's got to be. Certainly not Batman Begins, which is a pretty dark movie." That's probably for the better since there's already too much dark on the DC Comics side thanks to Batman anyway, but that doesn't mean Hal Jordan won't have depth.

Impressive Red Band Trailer for Will Forte's MacGruber Movie
Universal has just debuted the official trailer for MacGruber starring Will Forte, Ryan Phillippe, Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, and Val Kilmer as the bad guy! The trailer can be seen over at IAmRogue.com and below. Believe it or not, I actually think this looks pretty damn good. I'm not a big fan of SNL humor anymore (and some of the jokes just didn't hit with me at all), but this at least looks like it was shot beautifully. And I hate to say it, but the explosions look pretty good, too. I'm impressed and will probably see this in theaters. And I must say I'm very happy that they decided to make this R-rated. Anyway, watch and enjoy the trailer below!

George Lucas Says Avatar Makes Star Wars in 3-D More Likely
With Avatar still taking the box office by storm just passing $1.6 billion worldwide this past weekend, and then taking home the Golden Globe for Best Drama on Sunday, there's no doubt that James Cameron's sci-fi epic is turning some heads. Still who would've thought that Cameron's flick would've turned the head of the master of Industrial Light & Magic himself as Access Hollywood reports George Lucas said the 3-D technology on display in Avatar might mean that the time has come for the Star Wars legacy to get the 3-D treatment. While it would be awesome to fly down the Death Star trench in 3-D, don't expect it soon.

Video Interview: Sherlock Holmes' Composer Hans Zimmer
Last week I had the honor of interviewing the one-and-only Hans Zimmer at his amazing studio in Santa Monica. This isn't the first time I've talked to one of my all-time favorite composers - I talked with Zimmer and James Newton Howard for The Dark Knight in 2008. This time the focus was supposed to be Sherlock Holmes, but because I'm such a huge fan of almost all of his work, we talked about everything from how he develops his scores to how he continues to remain original. His answers are fascinating and insightful. And of course, we talked about Chris Nolan's next film, Inception, which he's working on as we speak. Enjoy!

Disney Buzz: Pirates 4 Shooting This Summer, Burton's Next?
A couple of buzzworthy stories relating to a few Disney projects to point out today. First up, ComingSoon has a press release from the governor of Hawaii announcing that Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will be shooting on the islands of Kaua'i and O'ahu this summer. They don't say when exactly it'll start shooting, only "this summer", but does this mean Disney and Johnny Depp worked things out and are moving ahead as planned? Please don't tell me they're replacing him like Tobey Maguire. No other details were revealed in the press release. Next up: Rumors about Tim Burton's next Disney project.

Duplass Brothers Directing Reitman Produced Stoner Comedy
Jay and Mark Duplass, better known as the Duplass Brothers, haven't broken into the mainstream yet. However, I think this could be their year. Later this week their newest movie, Cyrus, will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. And if it's as good as I'm hoping, it could finally put them in the spotlight in a big way. However, in the industry, the Duplass Brothers are already well-known. In fact, they've got a handful of projects in the works at various studios, but MovieWeb has the details on their very next movie. Titled Jeff Who Lives at Home, it's a stoner comedy "quest" movie that will be similar to The Sword in the Stone.

Bruce Campbell Returns with Bruce vs. Frankenstein Sequel!
All Bruce Campbell news is good news! The Chin has just announced on Ain't It Cool News that they are shooting a sequel to My Name is Bruce this fall in Oregon. It's title will be Bruce Vs. Frankenstein and obviously from that title we can discern that he will indeed be fighting the Frankenstein monster. In the first My Name is Bruce, where Bruce Campbell plays himself, the actor is mistaken for his character Ash from the Evil Dead trilogy and forced to fight a real monster - the Chinese protector of the dead, Guan-Di - in a small town in Oregon. Oddly, My Name is Bruce is the only Bruce Campbell movie that I haven't seen.

Saw VI Director for Paranormal Activity 2, In Theaters October
This explains everything (I'll get to that below)! Heat Vision is reporting that Paramount is moving forward with a sequel to last year's record-breaking, infamous horror movie Paranormal Activity. Even though it premiered at Screamfest in 2007, Paramount didn't bring this to theaters until last September, eventually earning an impressive $108 million on a movie that only cost $15,000 to make. Well, now they've gone and done the unthinkable. Paramount has hired Saw VI director Kevin Greutert and "The Dead Zone" writer Michael R. Perry to direct and write (respectively) the sequel - titled Paranormal Activity 2. But, why?!

Tons of New Photos from Ricky Gervais' Cemetery Junction
How about some new photos of Ricky Gervais to help you forget about the Golden Globes? Oh wait, that doesn't make any sense, but screw it! Collider has discovered a huge batch of new photos from Cemetery Junction, the British comedy being directed by comedians Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Back in July we featured a very odd teaser trailer for Cemetery Junction that had no footage, only an unfunny Ralph Fiennes flanked by Gervais and Merchant. Now we actually get to see some real characters from this in the photos, including the three leads - Christian Cooke, Tom Hughes, and Jack Doolan. Check them out below!
