Joe Carnahan to Pit Man Versus Wolves Before 'Jazz' or 'Pablo'
Despite the lackluster critical and box office performance of Smokin' Aces, director Joe Carnahan lined up at least two sweet gigs following that movie's premiere in 2006: an adaptation of James Ellroy's White Jazz and an adaptation of Mark Bowden's Killing Pablo. However, once the then-relatively-unknown Chris Pine chose to boldly go where no man has gone before, Jazz ended up in development hell, and Pablo has been treading water for a couple years. Now, Carnahan seems to have lined up something else next as Cinematical reports he wants to do The Grey, a film he describes as an "existentialist kind of drama" he wrote himself.

Creepy Viral Babysitter Needed Ad for The House of the Devil
As a reader of this blog, you probably already know that we're big fans of viral marketing and usually write about every little viral that pops up. Peter from SlashFilm informed me that there's a creepy viral for The House of the Devil that the filmmakers have been running recently. And coincidentally ShockTillYouDrop just wrote an article about this exact viral so I thought we'd point it out too because its pretty frickin' creepy. For those who don't know, The House of the Devil is a horror movie that first premiered last year set in the 80's and made to feel completely like it was made in the 80's (they even sent VHS tapes to some websites).

The IMPAwards Winners: The Best & Worst Posters of 2009
Every year the IMPAwards movie poster website (the best database for posters) hosts the Internet Movie Poster Awards, their own "best of the year" awards, that have become the most popular awards for movie posters on the web. The "Imp" as he's known has made his picks for 2009's best & worst posters and they're picks as always. What I love about these awards is that they have numerous categories in order to feature a lot of great posters. But the true king this year, the Best Poster of the Year (for 2009), was the beautiful UK poster for Terry Gilliam's Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Read on to see some of 2009's big winners!

FirstShowing Heads to Sundance - Coverage Details for 2010!
Another year, another Sundance Film Festival, but as always, we've got some changes this year! The first thing I should mention is that Brandon Lee Tenney will be making the trek to Park City for his first time, writing reviews and coverage of the fest for FS. This will be my 4th year attending and I'm planning to see as many films as I can and provide some great interviews and video blogs (find them here). The bad news is that Bob Stencil will not be returning this year (watch his videos from last year) but he will be back again for Comic-Con. Anyway, expect lots of reviews over the next two weeks and all of our normal coverage as well.

Ricky Gervais Slays the Golden Globes - Favorite Moments?
There's no doubt that awards shows are long-winded and usually boring. Every now and then, though, there comes a host who dares to lead an awards show with great humor, gravitas and yet, seemingly, without care. This year at the 67th Annual Golden Globes, comedian Ricky Gervais was that host. Along with all the traditional topical jokes at the industry's expense, Gervais slammed just about everyone from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to NBC to Mel Gibson and yes, even his own penis. Not an hour into the show, he quipped: "One thing that can't be bought is a Golden Globe. Officially." Discuss more highlights below.

2010 Golden Globe Awards Winners - Avatar Wins Best Drama
The winners of the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards, the precursor to the Academy Awards, were announced tonight at an exciting ceremony held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. We will be updating this list live below with all of the winners once they're announced during the ceremony tonight. I'm rooting for many of the great movies that got nominations this year (like 500 Days of Summer, District 9, Up in the Air) and I'm already excited to see who takes home the most Globes this time. I'm not expecting any major upsets, but you never know, Avatar could sweep this year if everything goes right. Read on for the results!

One More Amazing Poster for Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass!
Lionsgate has debuted one more amazing poster for Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass (via HitFix) featuring the entire line-up of faux heroes, not just one at a time. I know I shouldn't go this crazy, but I absolutely love this poster. In fact, I'm calling it my favorite poster of 2010 so far. I love the way it looks, I love how simple yet eye-catching it is, I love the paint splatter effect (instead of blood). It's a brilliantly designed poster that feels perfectly representative of the movie. It's rare we see posters this good. I don't know if it'll change anyone's mind about Kick-Ass, but I hope it at least gets everyone out to see it in April. Check it out below!

Indie Trailer Sunday: Trippiest Trailer Ever - Machotaildrop
What the f**k is this?! I hate to use profanity, but this trailer deserves it! My friend Don at Quiet Earth told me to check out the trailer for an indie called Machotaildrop and it's the trippiest, craziest, weirdest thing I've ever seen. I don't really know what's going on, but basically it's about a skateboarder named Walter Rhum who realizes his dream of turning pro and riding for the world's greatest skateboard company called Machotaildrop. I'm surprised Spike Jonze isn't producing this. Anyway, if you want to totally have your mind blown, or melted, then check out this trailer. And don't say I didn't warn you that it would be weird!

Kong Ain't Got Nothin' on Denzel Washington's Venn Diagram
After the majesty of Maxim's Morgan Freeman Chain of Command, it was going to take quite an effort to create another meticulously crafted chart chronicling the work of an actor. Hold on to your hat kids because the guys over at Maxim have one-upped themselves by putting together the Denzel Washington Venn Diagram, and we're not just talking two circles meeting in the middle, we're talking an in-depth, 7-part diagram recalling the various looks of Washington, chronicling many of the roles in which he's worn a hat, glasses, facial hair, two of those three, and the one role where he wore all three! Check it out in full below.

First Look: Unofficial Photos from Nimrod Antal's Predators
Finally! I knew photos like this would make their way on the web sooner or later. A user on the AVP Galaxy forums (via SlashFilm) posted a huge batch of unofficial photos from the set of Nimrod Antal's Predators remake being produced by Robert Rodriguez. I've chosen the four best photos to highlight below including our first look at the new Predators creatures, our first look at Adrien Brody, and some other shots of the set (including the last one you see below with Nimrod Antal). I guess this confirms that we'll see multiple predators. And check out that crazy alien spire sticking out behind Brody as well. Lots of cool stuff to see!

Michael De Luca Explains Why They're Remaking Fright Night
Last year it was announced that "Mad Men" writer/producer Marti Noxon would be writing a remake to the classic 1985 horror comedy Fright Night. Spielberg's DreamWorks is developing and Michael De Luca is producing the remake. When Collider caught up with De Luca and talked with him about all the projects he's working on, he asked him briefly about Fright Night as well. And his answer to why they're remaking it is just brilliant. Or at least that's what I think. The original Fright Night is about a teenager who discovers his neighbors are vampires. De Luca compares the scope and size of the film to Disturbia. So why remake it?

Bill Murray, Megan Fox & Mickey Rourke Cast in Passion Play
After some run-of-the-mill though cherished comedies in the 80's and 90's, Bill Murray's career took an interesting turn in his much lauded performance in Lost in Translation. Ever since then pretty much every role he's chosen has been unique and yet perfect for the actor (even his turn as Garfield was genius casting even though the movie itself sucked). Murray keeps his interesting choices coming as Heat Vision reports that he has been cast as the villain in Mitch Glazer's romantic thriller Passion Play, which is shooting in New Mexico. Murray joins Megan Fox and Mickey Rourke in, quite literally, one circus freak of a story.
