Abrams Says (Again) That They're Working on Cloverfield 2

This isn't as big of a news story as you might be expecting, but it is interesting nonetheless. J.J. Abrams appeared on the National Board of Review red carpet earlier this week where MTV talked with him briefly. Abrams mainly joked about how the next Star Trek will be "all about the Gorn," but he also made one very interesting statement regarding Cloverfield 2. It wasn't much, but here's what he said: "We're working on something right now with that and again, you know, it's early stages." It's interesting news because this is one of the first times recently that J.J. Abrams has mentioned that they've actually got something going.

Sound Off: Hughes Brothers' The Book of Eli - Your Thoughts?

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? Albert and Allen Hughes, more popularly known as the Hughes Brothers, haven't made a movie since From Hell in 2001. But now they're back again, some nine years later, with a gritty post-apocalyptic action movie called The Book of Eli. But how is the movie? Is it as awesome as all the trailers make it out to be? How is Denzel Washington as the lead and Mila Kunis, too? Is the story any good or is it just bland and boring? How does it compare to The Road? What did you think? One More Brilliant 'Daybreakers' Vampire Poster to Admire

I have to say, I think the marketing campaign Lionsgate put together for Daybreakers was pretty damn impressive (despite only making $19 million at the box office so far). And the many posters they created were the best part, especially the super creepy one that we featured back in December. I thought we'd seen everything, but found over on IMPAwards is one more poster that I just had to featured after seeing it. It's another brilliant design, kind of like True Blood, advertising a blood "drink" you can buy called B+, or Be Positive. This vampire world they've created is brilliant. Bravo Lionsgate and bravo Spierig Brothers.

Awesome Aerial Dogfights in 'The Red Baron' Official Trailer

I'm not sure when or how this movie got made, but you've got to check this out. The only reason I went to see that awful Flyboys movie was for the dogfights. Now we've got a German movie about the greatest WWI dogfighter of all time, The Red Baron, and the aerial fights in this movie look way better than they did in Flyboys. The movies stars Matthias Schweighöfer (seen in Valkyrie) and Til Schweiger (seen in Inglourious Basterds). I'm not sure why they did this, but most of the dialogue in the trailer is in English (I hope it's not dubbed), and it sounds awful. But I suggest watching it for the flying sequences, not the dialogue. Enjoy!

Mark Strong Might Play Sinestro in Green Lantern, Not Haley!

Looks like they've cast another great actor in this! Up until today we thought it was Jackie Earle Haley who was going to end playing the villain Sinestro in DC Comics' Green Lantern, but apparently that was never the case. "No, that's completely wrong," director Martin Campbell told MTV in an interview today. "In fact, we're in negotiations with Mark Strong to play Sinestro." Hell yes! Mark Strong, who is England's "secret weapon," has been playing lots of villains recently (in Sherlock Holmes, Kick-Ass, Robin Hood). I like Jackie Earle Haley a lot, but I love Mark Strong even more, and I'm so excited to see him joining this!

Brad Pitt and Matt Damon Join George Miller's Happy Feet 2

While I'd be a little more pleased to hear this casting news in reference to George Miller's Mad Max 4: Fury Road, I guess I'll be content with the announcement from Movieline that Brad Pitt and Matt Damon have recently joined the voice cast for another Miller film, Happy Feet 2, the (obviously) 3-D sequel to the 2006 Academy Award winning animated film. While I would've thought that Damon and Pitt might appear as live action characters (you should know what I'm talking about if you've seen the original) it sounds like they're simply providing vocal talent since they've already been at work recording lines in the studio this week.

Michael Bay Says Transformers 3 Will Have Even Less Robots

Wait, don't you mean more robots? No, we do mean less. Michael Bay recently attended a presentation in Hollywood for the Academy on the sound of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Hero Complex covered the event and published a small quote from Bay at the end about what to expect in Transformers 3, which is currently slated for 2011. "Although the number of robots increased significantly from the first film for the second, the third film -- which will hit theaters in summer 2011, won't be as robot-heavy and there will be fewer explosions, a tight-lipped Bay said after the Q+A." So Michael Bay is going indie!? Just kidding.

Rumor: Mad Max 4 in 3-D + Mixing Live-Action & Animation?

The massively growing trend of films in digital 3-D is a new treasured experience for some, while for others it has become akin to a sexually transmitted disease of which Hollywood will never rid itself. Since there's plenty of lovers and haters out there, we'll let you decide how you feel about this rumor from the French film website Tout Le Cine (via SlashFilm) stating that the upcoming Mad Max 4: Fury Road will not only get the 3-D treatment, but it will also blend live-action and animation. This may clarify previous rumors of an animated Mad Max and since George Miller recently directed Happy Feet, it's not exactly far-fetched.

Watch This: First Official Trailer for Jon Foo's Tekken Movie

We've been trying to keep up to date on the live-action Tekken movie that's apparently shot and done, but there is a surprising lack of information on it out there. However, an early trailer for the movie has finally appeared on Teaser-Trailer.com (via SlashFilm) and it looks pretty awful. They took the idea of adapting a fighting game literally and set it in the "King of Iron Fist" tournament arena, just like in the game, and even added character choosing like this was happening right in the arcade. But besides all that, there is actually some awesome fighting in this, so maybe it could be good? Although I'm not sure when or if it'll hit theaters.

Annie Leibovitz's Beautiful Wall Street 2 Photo Shoot Preview

Annie Leibovitz has done it again! Vanity Fair just published a "preview" of a new photo shoot that they had Leibovitz do for Oliver Stone's upcoming sequel Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. And boy do these photos look incredible as always. One of them is just a simple cast photo, the other is a gorgeous shot of Michael Douglas standing on the stairs to Federal Hall. Since it's a preview there are only two photos, but I have a feeling more are on their way. "When Gekko comes out of prison, in the beginning of this movie, he essentially has to redefine himself,” Oliver Stone explains. “He’s looking for that second chance.” Read on!

Brandon's Word: The Book of Eli is Stylish, But Also Slight

There's a line of dialogue in The Book of Eli that encapsulates the entire film's thesis: "I got so caught up in keeping it safe that I forgot to live by what I'd learned from it." In this quote is the whole of the film. Its themes, its commentary, its action, its characters. By no means is this intended to be a slight. In fact, I commend screenwriter Gary Whitta for being able to distill his film into so clear an elixir. And if there's one word that's most able to describe The Book of Eli, I'd say that word is clear. The action is clear. The story is clear. The characters are (too) clear. And, yet, it's not.

Kathryn Bigelow Will Be 'Held By The Taliban' Next - Updated!

Potential news surrounding the next project from director Kathryn Bigelow who broke out huge this year with The Hurt Locker. Production Weekly tweeted that: "Kathryn Bigelow is attached to direct 'Held By The Taliban,' based on David Rohde's series of articles in the NY Times." That Times article was published last year and and is titled '7 Months, 10 Days in Captivity' about journalist/author David Rohde who was kidnapped in Afghanistan while working on a book about the region. Sounds like the perfect follow-up to The Hurt Locker if she wants to continue making more of those gritty, intense, hyper-realistic war movies.
