Mark Wahlberg Looking to Hatch a Sequel to Four Brothers
That's right, kids, apparently the film industry has become so obsessed with sequels that Paramount and Mark Wahlberg (via THR) have found it necessary to attempt a follow-up to a film that wasn't all that successful to begin with, and honestly doesn't even need a sequel. The film in question is the 2005 thriller Four Brothers which followed, obviously, four brothers (Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, Andre Benjamin, and Garret Hedlund) who come together to avenge their mother's death in what at first appears to be a random robbery. Plot details for the sequel are still being kept under wraps but it will be called Five Brothers.

Check This Out: Dark Character Posters for Fox's Percy Jackson
Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief isn't my most anticipated movie this spring, but after the last full trailer, I am very interested in checking it out, in hopes of discovering a new Harry Potter-like franchise. Latino Review recently came across three new character posters for the movie which I've featured below. I like the dark, epic design of these posters, and I like that they're not going with the floating head close-up for once. I'm not sure if these are officially being released or put up in theaters, but they are cool to see. And as for these three characters, I think each one of them is the son of a Greek god.

Bryan Cranston Joins Andrew Stanton's John Carter of Mars
Although Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton's next film, the live-action & CGI hybrid John Carter of Mars, has already put together an interesting cast including Thomas Haden Church, Willem Dafoe, Taylor Kitsch, Samantha Morton, Dominic West, James Purefoy and Mark Strong, adding one more to the line-up couldn't hurt as THR's Heat Vision reports that Emmy winner Bryan Cranston (of AMC's "Breaking Bad") is the latest to join the cast. Cranston will play a Civil War colonel who comes into conflict with John Carter. It'll be a nice return to the big screen for him since his last appearance was in 2006's Little Miss Sunshine.

Angelina Jolie Will Be Scarpetta in Mystery Series Adaptation
The crime thriller will never die. It seems to still be an unstoppable subgenre with madlib fill-in-the-blank elements from at-odds detective partners to crooked cops, as well as socipathic serial killers to rapists. The combination of possibilities of these elements seem to be endless, and now we can add another crime thriller to the mix as THR's Risky Biz reports Angelina Jolie will take on the role of medical examiner Dr. Kay Scarpetta, the main character of a still running 17-novel mystery series from author Patricia Cornwell. The medical examiner often finds herself caught up in mind-boggling and even dangerous criminal mysteries.

Marc Webb Might Take Over Sony's Spider-Man Franchise?
This could be awesome! In an update on the Spider-Man situation today, Nikki Finke reported that she's heard that 500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb is at the very top of Sony's short list of directors that they want for the Spider-Man reboot. This is all very likely, especially because he's already had meetings with Sony about another project, Moneyball, and I'm sure someone there really liked 500 Days of Summer. Finke says "Webb met about the Spidey reboot with the pic's producers and executives looking to get the picture into production later this year for a Summer 2012 release." So he's not officially on board just yet.

Daniel Craig Might Play Zeke Jackson in Cowboys & Aliens
Jackson, Zeke Jackson. A few days ago it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr. would no longer be starring in Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci's adaptation of Cowboys & Aliens being directed by Jon Favreau. At the time, no one know who would replace him, but Collider is now reporting that they've heard it's Daniel Craig who may take the role instead. However, they stress that he is only "in negotiations" and not signed on yet, but will likely end up playing the lead role of Zeke Jackson as long as he can work this in around his James Bond 23 shooting schedule (which, as we know, is delayed a bit due to MGM's financial problems).

Must Watch: Roman Polanski's The Ghost Writer Official Trailer
Thanks to our French friends at AlloCine.fr (via Twitch) we can finally watch the official full-length trailer for Roman Polanski's new thriller The Ghost Writer starring Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Hutton, Kim Cattrall, and Olivia Williams. Put aside your feelings towards Polanski and enjoy this trailer because it looks fantastic. It kind of reminds me of a Martin Scorsese thriller mixed with Chinatown. I've been very excited for this ever since we debuted that teaser last summer but this is the crème de la crème. Despite all that Polanski's been accused of, he's still a phenomenal filmmaker, and this trailer proves it.

Watch Wes Anderson's Stop-Motion NBR Acceptance Speech
The National Board of Review held a ceremony last night for their annual awards (just like every group this time of the year). The winners were actually announced in December but the ceremony was only held just recently. Wes Anderson won a "Special Filmmaking Achievement" award for Fantastic Mr. Fox and instead of simply accepting and giving a normal speech, Anderson made a cute little stop-motion animated vignette as his acceptance speech. But of course, he actually took the stage after showing it at the ceremony to say thanks in person as well. His vignette has been posted online in full thanks to Fox Searchlight. Enjoy!

Check This Out: Basil Gogos's Gorgeous New Wolfman Poster
Universal's reboot of the classic monster movie The Wolfman is due out in theaters in under a month. As part of a final bit of promotion, Universal has released a new poster painted by the legendary Basil Gogos (who did the magazine covers for Famous Monsters of Filmland back in the day). Unfortunately CHUD ruined this beautiful poster with their obnoxiously large logo (they must really be hurting for hits?) but you can still get a good idea of what it looks like in full below. I'm not sure if this will be printed or available for purchase, but I hope it is eventually. I'd love to see a finished version with a logo, too. Check it out below!

It's Official - Ivan Reitman Will Be Directing Ghostbusters 3!
It's now confirmed. Ivan Reitman, father of Jason Reitman who directed the two original Ghostbusters movies as well as Kindergarten Cop and My Super Ex-Girlfriend most recently, will direct Ghostbusters 3 sometime this year. MTV caught up with Reitman on the National Board of Review red carpet last night and got word straight from him that he will indeed direct the sequel. The script from writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky is in and a second draft is in the works. "They have delivered a draft," Reitman said. "We are working our way through another draft... good work is being done and all of us have our fingers crossed."

Chris Nolan Says Inception is the Biggest Movie He's Ever Made
Bigger than The Dark Knight (which had a budget of $185 million)? Yep! "This is the biggest challenge I've taken on to this point," Christopher Nolan told Hero Complex. "We're trying to tell a story on a massive scale, a true blockbuster scale – the biggest I've ever been involved with. We tried to make a very large-scale film with The Dark Knight and with this one we wanted to push that even further." Sounds great, but what exactly is Inception about? Even Chris Nolan won't speak. "Is it an international thriller? A story of madness and lost love? Or Hollywood's very first metaphysical heist movie? The answer is 'all of the above.'" Huh?

Michelle Monaghan & Vera Farmiga Join 'Source Code' Cast
I wasn't expecting to see this casting. The very talented Vera Farmiga and the very beautiful Michelle Monaghan have joined the cast of the upcoming time-travel thriller Source Code. The script was written by Billy Ray and Ben Ripley and it's being directed by Duncan Jones, the British filmmaker who debuted last year with Moon. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as a soldier who, as part of an experimental government program to investigate a terrorist incident, finds himself in the body of a commuter living and reliving a harrowing train bombing until he can find out who is responsible for it. Monaghan plays a girl he meets on the train.
