Check This Out: Awesome Tyler Stout Monster Squad Poster!
We don't write about the posters that Mondo Tees sells as often as SlashFilm does, but there's a new one that I just have to feature (even if it's sold out). Their newest poster, designed by Tyler Stout, is for the 1987 creature feature classic Monster Squad. I had the honor of attending a screening of the movie late last year with live commentary from director Fred Dekker and writer Shane Black and it was quite an awesome experience. It's such a great movie that I'm sure many of you guys grew up on it. Yes, Wolfman's got nards! And yes, this poster kicks ass! Unfortunately, the bad news, is that this poster is already sold out. Damnit!

Seth Gordon Directing Divorce Comedy with Rashida Jones
After director Seth Gordon had his breakthrough directorial debut with The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, I had high hopes for him. And then came Four Christmases. Luckily Gordon has had a decent run recently directing episodes of NBC's series' "The Office," "Community," and "Parks & Recreation" so he's redeemed himself a bit, but more redemption is on the way as THR reports Gordon will direct Celeste and Jesse Forever, a divorce comedy starring Rashida Jones which tracks a couple in the midst of a divorce attempting to maintain their friendship while pursuing new relationships. Sounds safe and quite average!

Casting Tidbits: Kevin Spacey, Antonio Banderas, & Bloodgood
Show me the Casting Tidbits! First up, we've got an un-casting tidbit as THR reports that actor Stuart Townsend has left the Marvel Comics adaptation of Thor due to creative differences. Originally set to play Fandral, one of the Warriors Three, Townsend has been replaced by virtually unknown actor Joshua Dallas who will join Ray Stevenson and Tadanobu Asano as the trio of Asgardian warrirors who were already cast back in November. This is another bit of bad luck for Townsend who at one time was cast as Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings trilogy before being replaced last minute by Viggo Mortensen. More casting below!

Zach Galifianakis & Paul Rudd Teaming Up for Comedy 'Will'
Zach Galifianakis & Paul Rudd both have a part in Jay Roach's upcoming comedy Dinner for Schmucks, but the two actors will lead a comedy of their own as THR reports the duo has signed on to star in Will, a comedy with a powerhouse of talent behind the camera from direction by Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton (Little Miss Sunshine) to a script written by comedian Demetri Martin (who recently starred in Taking Woodstock) all being produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. The story follows an ordinary guy (Rudd) who lives in a world where people's lives and destinies are being written by scribes in Heaven. Read on!

The Tourist with Johnny Depp Finally Lands a New/Old Director
Over the past few months The Tourist has had its fair share of talent switching. From having trouble to deciding on a director to replacing Sam Worthington with Johnny Depp, there's no doubt been a lot of tapdancing. Well, now producers have gone back in time, if you will, to lock down a director as Variety reports Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck has returned to helm the spy thriller starring Depp and Angelina Jolie after he left the project last fall over creative differences. This will be Donnersmarck's first film since his breakthrough bout directing his Academy Award winning foreign film The Lives of Others.

Chris Rock Writing & Producing Comedy Remake 'Elisabeths'
After seeing the painstakingly unfunny trailer for theĀ remake of Death at a Funeral from Chris Rock, it pains me to hear that he's now set his sight on foreign films as Variety reports the once-groundbreaking comedian has nabbed the English-language rights to write and produce a remake of the French film La Premiere etoile (or The First Star). Even further evidence that Hollywood is desperate to remake anything and everything, the original was only released last year. Retitled Elisabeths, the comedy follows a black family who leaves their working class hood to take to the ski slopes and shake things up in a stuffy resort.

Stephen Norrington Directing 'The Lost Patrol' for Legendary
Alternate, fantastical takes on established history are something that I greatly enjoy seeing which is one of the reasons I loved Watchmen so much. So I'm happy to see (via THR) Stephen Norrington, of Blade, will write and direct The Lost Patrol, a supernatural action thriller set against the backdrop of World War II, for Legendary Pictures (the awesome production company behind The Dark Knight and so many great WB movies). Norrington was supposed to be preparing a remake of The Crow, which we heard has already started casting, so it sounds like this may be next for him once he finishes that. But it could come first, too.

Peter Sarsgaard Cast as Hector Hammond in Green Lantern!
Whoa! Looks like those rumors about Jackie Earle Haley playing the villain Sinestro in DC Comics' Green Lantern movie were inaccurate (or maybe there will be multiple villains in this?). In any case, Heat Vision just announced that Peter Sarsgaard is "in negotiations" to play the villain Dr. Hector Hammond, the pathologist son of a senator who is seen as a disappointment in his father's eyes. He becomes infused with psychic powers when he discovers a meteor. It sounds like they're using the same storyline that's in Geoff Johns' Green Lantern: Secret Origin. And casting Sarsgaard for the role of Hammond is absolutely perfect!

Sherlock Holmes 2 & Transformers 3 Shooting This Summer
Yesterday we heard the disappointing news that Robert Downey Jr. would not be joining director Jon Favreau for the adaptation of Platinum Comics' series Cowboys & Aliens due to "scheduling issues." However, since the actor hadn't lined up a follow-up project to the forthcoming comedy Due Date, no one was too certain what was getting in the way. Well, now EW has learned that Sherlock Holmes 2 is being fast tracked for a June start date. Meanwhile, over at Deadline Hollywood, a tidbit of info hidden in some agency news about Shia LaBeouf reveals an estimated May start for production on Transformers 3.

Update: Spider-Man, Spider-Man, Does Whatever a Reboot Can
Last night, a pumpkin bomb of massive proportions was dropped on us all. Sony officially announced that Sam Raimi's Spider-Man franchise was no more. This spawned a huge debate between fans and non-fans alike both on our own comment board and, most especially, on Twitter. I was even compelled to share -- and defend -- my own jubilance as a fan of comics more than the movies. (Check out my thoughts in comment #71 of the above article.) But when the night was all said and done, the only thing that we could all agree on was that there weren't a whole lot of things we could all agree on. Read on for more new reboot updates!

Watch This: Sultry Red Band Trailer for Atom Egoyan's Chloe
Warning - this trailer is NSFW! I'm talking about Amanda Seyfried being completely nude. And lots of sex and very seductive things going on. If you watch this, it better be in the comfort of your own home. Thanks to Dave Poland's The Hot Blog we can now see the first unofficial trailer for Atom Egoyan's Chloe which stars Julianne Moore, Liam Neeson and Amanda Seyfried. This premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2009 and will be hitting theaters in March. It's an international trailer, but not dubbed over. The only other problem with this trailer is that it gives away way too much of the story. But man, does Seyfried look good!
