Underworld 3D Sequel Confirmed, Kate Beckinsale May Return
February 3, 2010

Buried in an international industry article at Variety comes official confirmation that Len Wiseman will indeed be directing Underworld 4 in 3D which we heard rumblings about last August, and also confirms rumors that the story is heading into outer space. However, Bloody-Disgusting is saying that if franchise actress Kate Beckinsale has her way, she'll avoid starring in the sequel, or perhaps may take on a smaller role in an effort to pass the franchise down to one of her real-life daughters (remember that Beckinsale's daughter Lily Mo Sheen already portrayed a younger version of Selene in Underworld: Evolution before).
With only fleeting interest in this series, I can't really express one way or the other how I feel about these ideas, so I'll it leave up to those who are true fans. I think it's pretty meta and even cool that Beckinsale is interested in passing on the franchise she started to her real-life daughter. At the same time, I'm sure there are plenty of people who will be sad to see Beckinsale leave this altogether or end up with a smaller role, whichever actually comes to fruition. But I have to say, Kate Beckinsale in three dimensions doesn't sound bad at all. Moving the story into space, well, that's a whole other issue. What do you think about this?

……………………….In space?……. Come on… I really enjoy the series. Specially Rise of the Lycans. Sure Evolution wasn't great, but They are really reaching now…. Can it even still be called Underworld then?

Why don't you just tell us what movies arn't in 3D

rise of the lycans was in the past and underworld 1/2 were in the present… so to set it in space its either vampires at the international space station or its way off in the future, either way i don't see how you can call it 'Underworld' anything if its in space… Upperworld (in a relative sense) or Outerworld perhaps
did the other 3 movies really make that much money? a few studios have folded due to churning out money-grabbing-whore type crap so maybe this will put a nail in lakeshore's coffin

In space?! That's what I want. That's a movie right there. And in 3D?! Brilliant. Can't wait. I don't care if I'm the only one to see it, it will be cool.

Kate Beckinsale needs a hit see seems to have disapeard from the film world of late. Her las film Whiteout was a load of Rubbish, it was prodictable ( Tom Skerritt ) need i say more. It would be nice to see kate back in the franchise of Underworld 4 3D

I agree with #9. Whiteout was rubbish. I really love Kate Beckinsale. An underworld movie without her is like…i don't know.. anyway.. I like the idea of taking the war to the future!!!

Outerspace!!! That's what they did with the Hellraiser franchise, and that didn't work! Hopefully it's just a cover up story while they are working on the actual script. Hopefully. However, I'd even sit through Jay Leno just to see her as a guest.

i agree with #7.
sounds ridiculous. what does space have to do with this series?
Pretty soon we'll have titles like Underworld VS Alien or Underworld - Lycans Vs Predator. Just something ridiculous.
Sometimes people need to know when to let a movie go and focus their attention on something different

Who the hell said anything about space? god damn idiots.
Underworld series is awesome, i watch them nearly every week and never get bored of them, i really hope they make this and do a good job of it altho i really dont see how the story can continue, unless Seline and micheal have were-vampire kids who go on a rampage
