Exclusive: George Lucas Directing Drastic Red Tails Reshoots
Say what you will about George Lucas, but when the man sets his mind to something, you can bet he's going to get it done one way or another. Such is the case with Red Tails, the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American pilots to fly in a combat squadron during WWII, as an inside Secret Squirrel source told me that Lucas (serving as executive producer) was very displeased with TV director Anthony Hemingway's work, and is taking it upon himself to direct some massive reshoots. With these re-shoots come some hefty re-writes which I'm told completely change the main characters and their storylines.

Al Pacino Replaces Robert De Niro in Thriller 'Son of No One'
For some reason, despite having their own iconic roles and acting prowess, I can't help but think of Robert De Niro without also thinking of Al Pacino and vice versa. Obviously they've shared the screen before in Heat and the far less stellar Righteous Kill, in addition to having connections in The Godfather trilogy, but I can't help but think this is just a personal quirk. However, a bit of confirmation of their correlation has just manifested itself in news from THR that Pacino has taken the role left behind by De Niro in another police thriller, Son of No One, from Dito Montiel who previously directed A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints.

Tom Hanks Nabs Remake Rights to French Film Summer Hours
In this sad remake/reboot/sequel obsessed industry, original stories truly suffer. Not only are high quality concepts passed over in favor of safe, established intellectual property, but lauded foreign films are often remade stateside in order to rake in an all-new audience who can't be bothered to read pesky subtitles. Yet another project of this sort comes from an unlikely source as Pajiba reports Tom Hanks and his Playtone Productions have picked up rights for an American remake of the French drama Summer Hours, the story of three children letting go of their childhood as their dying mother's home is evacuated of their belongings.

Judd Apatow Producing Wedding Comedy from Kristen Wiig
It's hard to believe that it has been a decade since Judd Apatow and producer Paul Feig brought us the NBC series "Freaks and Geeks." It was a series ahead of its time not only in content, but in talent, as it launched the careers of Seth Rogen and Jason Segel before they became the comedy giants they are today. Now THR says Feig and Apatow are teaming up again to produce an untitled wedding-themed comedy starring Kristen Wiig (Whip It, Extract) in the story of two women battling to plan their friend's wedding. I would compare this to Bride Wars, but the involvement of Feig, Apatow and Wiig calms my snark gland.

More Tron Legacy Viral 'Bits' Were Delivered All Day Today
Yesterday we discovered a new viral site as part of the Tron Legacy viral game that's been running since Comic-Con last year. A box was delivered in Puerto Rico that contained a little red star, or a bit, from Tron, as well as a link to this website: flynnlives.com/zerohour. That site contains a binary countdown timer that expires at 8AM PST on February 24th next week. However, throughout the day, various websites and fans around the world have started receiving more of these bits pieces, but in different shapes and sizes. One is a red star, another is a yellow diamond shape, and one is a blue ball shape. You can see photos of them below.

Watch This: Awesome Behind-the-Scenes Kick-Ass Featurette
Everyone excited that Kick-Ass comes out in exactly two more months? To celebrate this joyous occasion, we're featuring this new behind-the-scenes featurette (they call it a documentary) from Empire. Anyway, there's a lot of kick ass stuff to see in this (pun intended, I guess) so make sure you check it out. We'll keep you updated on this until release. Enjoy!

Plot Details Discovered for that Riddick Sequel in the Works
Just last week it was confirmed that Universal was developing another Chronicles of Riddick sequel with David Twohy back in the director's chair working from his own script. But what was it going to be about? At one point we heard that Twohy had written two scripts, one more PG-13, one more R-rated, but that they would getting back to the gritty character focus of Pitch Black rather than anything in Chronicles of Riddick. Found in a new THR article is a little bit about what the sequel will contain. I don't normally like writing about big plot details, but this time they reveal just enough to make you excited, without not ruin anything.

Doug Liman Directing, Geoffrey Fletcher Writing, Attica Film
Finally an original idea (although it's based on real events). It was announced via Deadline Hollywood that director Doug Liman (Swingers, Go, The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Jumper) will be directing a new film from a screenplay by Geoffrey Fletcher (Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire) called Attica. The film will give us an insider's view of the 1971 Attica state prison rebellion (in New York), which was the "bloodiest prison confrontation in U.S. history." It will also follow the "firestorm of controversy that followed the 4-day standoff." Liman is also producing along with David Bartis and Elliot Abbott. Read on!

Check These Out: The Lost Art of Inglourious Basterds Posters
SA Studios Global's Film Marketing Division has teamed up with Quentin Tarantino, Upper Playground and The Weinstein Company to present The Lost Art of Inglourious Basterds. A new art gallery is being opened in downtown Los Angeles as a fundraiser for The American Red Cross to help the victims of the Haiti Earthquake. We received an email today with a link to Upper Playground where they have over 14 shots of some the different artwork that's being sold and it's seriously AWESOME stuff. I thought it couldn't get any better than that unused James Goodridge poster from last year, but these are the absolute cream of the crop.

Marc Webb & James Cameron Discuss Spider-Man's 3D Future
Now that we're all locked and loaded with confirmation that Marc Webb will be directing the next three Spider-Man movies in addition to the announcement that at least the first film will be presented in 3-D (with the other two films likely to follow). While of course everything is going 3-D these days, there might be some light at the end of this tunnel because MTV recently spoke to John Landau, who is the producing partner to none other than the new King of 3-D, James Cameron, who revealed that the both of them met with Webb to discuss Spider-Man's 3-D potential and also compare some notes. But why is this significant?

Just last week it was discovered that filmmaker Steven Soderbergh would be following up his female spy movie Knockout (which is currently shooting) with a deadly virus thriller called Contagion, set to star Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard and Jude Law. Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Gwyneth Paltrow may be the latest to join the impressive cast. The script, written by Scott Z. Burns (The Informant!, The Bourne Ultimatum), as expected is about an attempt to contain a deadly viral outbreak. Contagion has a $60 million budget from Participant Media but is still waiting to be picked up by a distributor first. Read on!
