Irvine Welsh to Direct British Comedy The Magnificent Eleven
For some, Trainspotting was their first encounter with director Danny Boyle as a spectacular filmmaker with unique vision. But for others, Trainspotting first came into their lives three years earlier in the form of Scottish author Irvine Welsh's beloved novel. Aside from writing Welsh has dabbled in directing short films as well as music videos like Atlantic for British rock band Keane. Now ScreenDaily says Welsh is set to take on his first feature film with the gritty comedy The Magnificent Eleven, a modern-day version of the classic 1960 western The Magnificent Seven featuring Sean Bean, Dougray Scott and Robert Vaughan.

Indie Trailer Sunday: Clay Liford's Indie Sci-Fi Film Earthling
As a big fan of the sci-fi genre, I usually hunt for every indie sci-fi film I can find, and today we have a new one to introduce to you. CHUD premiered a teaser trailer for a film called Earthling, written and directed by Clay Liford, about a group of people aboard the international space station who discover that the lives they have been living are all a lie. They're not human, they're aliens and now they must decide whether to keep on living as men or find a way back home. Just like Duncan Jones' Moon, I love seeing how much they can accomplish on a limited budget, and this looks great. Looking forward to seeing this as soon as I can.

Restored Version of Metropolis Hitting Theaters in Summer
What many people may not know about me is that I am a huge fan of Fritz Lang's Metropolis. I love the sci-fi genre and have an immense respect for Metropolis, not only for its influences on the genre, but also because it's just a wonderful movie. If you didn't know, Metropolis (originally released in 1927) has been butchered over the years with re-edits and different cuts that Fritz Lang himself has come to denounce. Eventually, part of the original version became lost, and it wasn't until another unedited original print was found in Buenos Aires that it could be restored to the original version that Lang intended audiences to see.

Julie Delpy Directing '2 Days In New York' Follow-Up to 'Paris'
I'm not sure how many people have seen Julie Delpy's indie romantic comedy 2 Days in Paris from 2007, but she's currently working on a sequel to it. To be titled 2 Days In New York instead, actress/director Julie Delpy will be reteaming with Rezo Films to produce the "atypical sequel." She will direct the sequel in Manhattan in October from a script she just completed (as reported via ScreenDaily). Delpy will reprise her role as Marion, a Frenchwoman who now finds herself in New York with her child and a new guy, having broken up with her 2 Days In Paris lover (and the father of her child) who was played by Adam Goldberg.

Watch This: Awesome New Featurette for Clash of the Titans
Clash of the Titans is my most anticipated movie coming out in March, I think it just looks so awesome. Latino Review got their hands on a new featurette for the film featuring cast interviews with everyone from Sam Worthington to Liam Neeson to Ralph Fiennes and some new footage and a little behind-the-scenes peek. It's not the most amazing featurette, but it's pretty damn cool, and I'm only being made more excited watching this. I know there are some people complaining about this looking dull, but I love the upgraded modern look to all the Greek gods and the intensity Louis Leterrier brings to it. Totally can't wait to see it!

Harvey Weinstein is Certain 'Basterds' Will Win Best Picture
The Academy Awards are 23 days away, which means things are starting to heat up in the Oscar race. There has been a lot going on regarding the Oscars recently (check out the nominees again), but this just makes me smile. Power producer Harvey Weinstein told Pete Hammond of the LA Times that Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds will win Best Picture on March 7th. "We're going to win Best Picture," Harvey proclaimed. "This is the movie people love and it's Quentin's time. We are going for it and we are gonna get it." I'd love to see that happen, but I'm not so sure it will. Others are saying Avatar will win big.

Sound Off: Joe Johnston's The Wolfman - Your Thoughts?
Now that you've seen it, what did you think? It was 1941 when Lon Chaney starred in the original Wolf Man, becoming one of the first iconic Universal monsters to hit the big screen. Now, some 69 years later, Universal is back with a new reimagining of the classic monster movie. The Wolfman stars Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving, and Emily Blunt. Is it any good? Does it live up to the original 1941 movie or any of the countless other werewolf movies released since? How is Del Toro as the Wolf Man? If you've seen it, sound off, leave us a comment below, and let us know what you thought of The Wolfman!

Must Watch: Edward Norton's Leaves of Grass Official Trailer
Yes, finally, everyone needs to watch this! Apple has debuted a new official trailer for Tim Blake Nelson's Leaves of Grass starring twin Edward Nortons. The more I think back to this, the better it gets, it was such an entertaining movie and I can't wait for it to hit theaters. We debuted a bad early trailer last year but this one is a huge improvement. It's a great story about two different cultures clashing and also watching brothers get together and just have fun. And Edward Norton knocks it out of the park with his side-by-side dual performances - you'll be amazed. I'm also glad they don't spoil everything in the movie either. Enjoy!

Bradley Cooper Reteaming with Joe Carnahan for The Grey
A couple of weeks back it was reported that Joe Carnahan would be following up his work on The A-Team movie with a new thriller called The Grey (writer unknown) about survivors of plane crash who are hunted by a pack of wolves in the wilderness. Variety is reporting today that Carnahan will also be reteaming with A-Team actor Bradley Cooper for The Grey, casting him as one of the survivors. Ridley and Tony Scott are also producing this through Scott Free. If you've seen Adam Green's Frozen, you've already seen a movie with vicious wolves in it, but this is probably going to be much different and it sounds pretty damn cool.

Disney's Animated Film 'Rapunzel' Changes Title to 'Tangled'
A somewhat odd news story to report on today. Both Blue Sky Disney and SlashFilm have confirmed that Disney has changed the title of their upcoming animated film Rapunzel to simply just Tangled instead. The film is an animated retelling of the classic Rapunzel fairy tale about a girl with incredibly long hair stuck in a very tall castle. Disney's version of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale has been in development for a long time, originally using computer animation techniques to make it look painted, but I think that was only in the early version. So why get rid of a very recognizable title? For marketing purposes of course. Read on!

Awesome Trailer for Neil Marshall's Roman Epic Centurion!
Fight or die. Wow, this looks incredible. IGN debuted the first official trailer for Neil Marshall's Roman soldier epic Centurion starring Michael Fassbender, Dominic West, and Olga Kurylenko. Wow this looks unbelievably frickin' awesome! I love Neil Marshall's fight choreography and cinematography, it's gorgeous, and those two together here in this movie looks outstanding. Great cast, great visual style, what looks like a great story. It gives me chills! I kinda hate to say it, but this looks better than Ridley Scott's Robin Hood. I'm way more excited for this sword and sandals epic than Ridley's - that's a sign of the times. Watch it now!

Casting Tidbits: Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jamie Bell, Colin Firth
Casting Tidbits phone home! First up, THR reports Jeffrey Dean Morgan has signed on to star in the Michael Bassett directed psychological thriller The Unblinking Eye. The script (which was also written by Bassett) has homicide detective John Callisto (Morgan), now a retired recluse after being nearly murdered by a serial killer, being tracked down by a relentless journalist. As the two confront each other, dark secrets from both their pasts come to light. Maybe the journalist is the serial killer, or son of the serial killer, or he's been dead the whole time! Or he's planning to reboot the same movie within the movie itself. Read on!
