Timur Bekmambetov Attached to Helm The Last Witch Hunter
When vampires and werewolves are all the rage with kids these days, why not toss witches into the mix, too? That's Summit Entertainment's thought as Deadline says the production company has paid top dollar for a pitch from Cory Goodman (who also wrote the forthcoming Priest for Scott Stewart) for a film called The Last Witch Hunter, a story about, you guessed it, the last remaining witch hunters, a breed that keeps the population of witches and warlocks in check. They are about to repopulate in a major way unless he can stop them. Making this all the more interesting is Timur Bekmambetov's (Wanted) attachment as director.

Kate Hudson & Potentially Jim Carrey Join the Satire 'Butter'
Satire is one of my favorite forms of comedy so I'm excited about this potential casting news from Vulture that Jim Carrey and Kate Hudson may be joining the already cast Jennifer Garner for Butter, a comedy who's script appeared at #3 on the 2008 Black List. Described as Election meets Best in Show, it follows a young orphan who, after being adopted by a Midwestern family, discovers that she has an uncanny talent for butter-carving. She eventually finds herself up against the ambitious wife (Garner) of the retired reigning champion in a town's annual butter-sculpting contest. However, there's some contrasting details out there.

Nick Frost May Be Starring in Joe Cornish's Attack the Block?
Plenty of people know and love Edgar Wright for his stellar work on movies like Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and the highly anticipated Scott Pilgrim vs The World. Someone you may not know (unless of course you're from the United Kingdom or simply obsessed with British pop culture) is his old friend, collaborator and TV star Joe Cornish who worked with Wright on the scripts for the upcoming adaptations of Ant Man and The Adventures of Tintin. You'll know him better soon as he's making his directorial debut with an alien invasion comedy Attack the Block, which The Playlist discovered might have Nick Frost attached to star.

Jason Segel Now Set to Star in That New Muppets Movie, Too
After co-writing the script with Nicholas Stoller, pitching it to Disney, and helping develop the project up to this point, Heat Vision now reports that actor Jason Segel will also star in Disney's new Muppets movie as well. Supposedly titled The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time (although the trade doesn't confirm that), the movie is about the Muppets coming out of retirement to save the TV studio that the original show was shot in. Segel is also producing along with David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films. As we learned earlier this year, "Flight of the Conchords" co-creator James Bobin will be directing the film.

Lizzy Caplan Also Joins the Cast of Danny Boyle's 127 Hours
After making a name for herself in supporting yet memorable roles in films like Mean Girls and Cloverfield, actress Lizzy Caplan made an even bigger name for herself on hit TV shows like HBO's "True Blood" and Starz's "Party Down" (available on Netflix Instant). With an upcoming appearance in the hilarious-looking comedy Hot Tub Time Machine, she's making the press rounds and told Collider she will appear in Danny Boyle's 127 Hours, the story of a mountain climber in Utah who had to amputate his own arm when it got pinned beneath a boulder. She also reveals how she'll be featured in this singular-character-focused film.

Edward Norton Says No Hulk Sequel Yet, But Avengers Likely
We're still a few years away from seeing Marvel build up several of their signature comic book characters into the superhero team The Avengers, and while one character already has his own sequel with Iron Man 2 on the way, there have been rumblings of another Incredible Hulk installment coming to fruition before The Avengers as well. However, making the rounds at SXSW, Edward Norton squashed those rumors when he told MTV: "No, I think they've got a whole lot of stuff to spool out before they get on into [a Hulk sequel]." Norton also nixed any involvement of a cameo in Thor or The First Avenger: Captain America. Read on!

Sacha Baron Cohen & Ben Kingsley Nab Roles in 'Hugo Cabret'
Though we heard a little bit about the upcoming Frank Sinatra biopic from Martin Scorsese recently, his more immediate project is the confirmed adaptation of Brian Selznick's The Invention of Hugo Cabret, based on the children's book of the same name. We haven't heard much about this yet except for Scorsese's involvement, but now Deadline New York reports Sacha Baron Cohen (this would be his first Scorsese collaboration) and Ben Kingsley (who just worked with Scorsese on Shutter Island) are in talks to join the story about the 12-year old Hugo Cabret, an orphan, who lives in the walls of a Paris train station in 1930.

Interview: The Host & Mother Writer/Director Bong Joon-ho
A couple of months ago, I had the incredibly rare and unique opportunity of interviewing Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho, of Memories of Murder and The Host previously, who is one of my favorite directors. I saw his new film Mother (watch the trailer) in Cannes last year and loved it. Mother just hit limited US theaters this past weekend, so this interview is focused on that film. It's a fascinating interview that covers plenty of ground and if you're a fan of Joon-ho as well, this is a must read. We talk about everything from violence in Korean culture to remakes of his films to his own filmmaking inspirations and why he loves 1970's cinema.

David Fincher Also Considering Chess Drama 'Pawn Sacrifice'
Over the weekend, we brought you news from Vulture that David Fincher was interested in potentially directing The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo remake at Sony. Variety has confirmed that he is interested in that film, but also adds that he's seemingly more interested in directing the chess drama Pawn Sacrifice that we first wrote about a couple of weeks ago. The trade says that Fincher is "circling" Dragon Tattoo, but apparently is fully attached to Pawn Sacrifice, which may star Tobey Maguire, who is producing with Gail Katz. The latest draft of the screenplay from Steven Knight is what has attracted so much recent attention.

Boba Fett's Dad & Eagle vs Shark Director Join Green Lantern
I was fully expecting to never write another casting post for Green Lantern, which starts shooting this week in New Orleans, but I'm making an exception for these guys. Heat Vision reports that Kiwi actors Temuera Morrison (L), who played Jango Fett and Commander Cody in the Star Wars prequels, and Taika Waititi (R), who also directed (and starred in) Eagle vs. Shark and Boy from this year's Sundance, have joined the cast of Martin Campbell's Green Lantern. Waititi plays the best friend of Hal Jordan, the test pilot who comes to wear the super-powered ring of the interplanetary police force known as the Green Lantern Corps.
