Confirmed: Chris Evans is The First Avenger: Captain America
Finally after endless speculation and rumors it looks like the search is over as Heat Vision has followed up their initial scoop and confirmed with several sources that Chris Evans is officially The First Avenger: Captain America. Apparently the deal moved super fast over the weekend and the trade blog says now it's "all about dotting the i's and crossing the t's." So there you have it ladies and gentlemen. Though I would've loved to see Ryan McPartlin or Mike Vogel suit up as Captain America instead, Evans is certainly better than John Krasinski and most of the other candidates. Now there's only one thing left to say: Avengers assemble!

Angryfilms Options Young Adult Political Novel 'Little Brother'
Plenty of young adult novels make their way to the big screen attempting to duplicate the success of Harry Potter, but none have come to close to resembling the caliber of that series, let alone having such a mature level of subject matter. However, that may change as THR reports Angryfilms has optioned Little Brother, a political thriller that sounds like one of the most intriguing young adult novels I've ever encountered. The story (referencing Big Brother of George Orwell's 1984) centers on a high school senior who, after a terrorist attack blows up San Francisco's Bay Bridge, becomes swept up in the extralegal world of Homeland Security.

Green Day's American Idiot Musical Headed to the Big Screen
If you didn't know, punk rock band Green Day turned their popular album American Idiot into a one-act stage musical of the same name featuring songs from that album as well as their recent album 21st Century Breakdown. After much buzz, the musical is headed to Broadway next month, but Deadline says that plans for a feature film adaptation are already in the works as Tom Hanks' Playtone Productions want to tell the coming-of-age story of three small-town guys: one joins the armed forces, another moves to the city and gets lost in drugs, and the third stays home and gets his girlfriend pregnant. These kids definitely aren't all right.

Casting Tidbits: Rebecca Hall, Marisa Tomei, Jessica Chastain
Casting Tidbits. Shaken, not stirred. First up, Variety has news expanding the already impressive line-up of actors in Salvation Boulevard, as the trade announces that Jennifer Connelly, Greg Kinnear and Marisa Tomei will be joining the already cast Pierce Brosnan, Jim Gaffigan and Ed Harris in the George Ratliff directed comedic thriller (based on the book from Wag the Dog writer Larry Beinhart) which centers on a former Deadhead turned born-again Christian who finds himself on the run from some fundamentalist members of his mega-church who will do anything to protect their larger-than-life pastor. That's blasphemy!

Watch This: Crazy Red Band Trailer for Get Him to the Greek
Back in February, Universal unveiled the first trailer for their big summer comedy Get Him to the Greek starring Russell Brand and Jonah Hill as well as a whole bunch of other actors/musicians like Rose Byrne, P. Diddy, Christina Aguilera, Pink, and many more. Uni has also debuted a new red band trailer for Get Him to the Greek over on MySpace and it looks okay, but not a big improvement over the first trailer honestly. I think some of the humor can get a little dull quickly (like Aziz Ansari's opening), but the rest of it is good. I'm surprised there wasn't more to show in this? Just don't watch it at work or you WILL be fired. Enjoy!

Malkovich, McDormand, Jeong & a Ferrari Join Transformers 3
Today the master of explosions himself, Michael Bay, updated his own website with a big casting addition for the forthcoming, guaranteed box office hit Transformers 3. The director revealed John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, and Ken Jeong (The Hangover, Knocked Up) have all joined the sequel. Deadline also has a bit of extra information revealing McDormand's character is a big one as the National Intelligence Director while Malkovich will be playing Sam Witwicky's first boss. No word on Jeong's role, but all three of these additions should make things a little more interesting, not to mention the newly announced Autobot.

Stepping into the World of Tron Legacy on Set in Vancouver!
Every time I set foot on the set of a movie, big or small, it's always a unique and unforgettable experience. Last June I was invited by Disney to travel to Vancouver to visit the set of Tron Legacy, which at the time was still a secretive project that hardly anyone knew anything about, besides that it was coming. Although it's still eight months away from arriving in theaters this December, we've now at least seen the first trailer, and as dark and incredible as it looks on the big screen, it was even more amazing standing on the huge deck of the "End of Line" club built inside of a massive sound stage (seen in photos above and below). Read on!

Exclusive: Louis Leterrier Promises Clash of the Titans Trilogy
While everyone else out there seems to be focusing on the news that French director Louis Leterrier is on the "bottom of the shortlist" to direct The Avengers movie, we've got some real news to highlight today that should make all the Clash of the Titans fans a bit more excited to see the new movie in just a few weeks. I interviewed Leterrier this weekend (full interview will be up next week) to talk about his upcoming Clash of the Titans remake, which I enjoyed quite a bit, and learned that he originally signed on to make a trilogy for Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures and has even written an entire story for all three movies already.

Warner Bros is Bringing the Manga 'Bleach' to the Big Screen
With a live-action Akira on the studio's future slate, it's no surprise that Heat Vision reports Warner Bros has snagged the rights to another popular manga - Bleach, for a feature length film. Director Peter Segal (Get Smart, Tommy Boy) is negotiating to serve as a producer (apparently he wants to take on more darker, action-fueled material) in a story focusing on a 15-year-old boy who can see ghosts. He meets a female Soul Reaper (who escorts the "souls of the dead"), but a fight with an evil spirit causes the Reaper to transfer her powers to the boy, leaving her stranded in the human world and the boy with her old job as a fighter of evil.

Butler, Fox or Farrell May Have a 'Consent to Kill' with Fuqua
Towards the beginning of the new year, we learned director Antoine Fuqua would direct the spy thriller Consent to Kill based on the 2005 Vince Flynn novel of the same name which follows counter-terrorism agent Mitch Rapp, who's battling a Saudi billionaire, an ex-East German Stasi spy and a husband-and-wife team of assassins, all while dealing with a knee injury. At the time there wasn't any cast, but now Deadline has heard that the producers have narrowed down their top choices to Matthew Fox, Gerard Butler and Colin Farrell for what CBS Films (don't worry, not a TV movie) is hoping will become their first franchise.

Jack the Giant Killer May Keep Singer Off X-Men: First Class
Just last week we featured a new in-depth update from a discussion Hero Complex had with Bryan Singer and producer Lauren Shuler Donner about a return of the super-powered mutants in X-Men: First Class. Though Singer sounded very optimistic and even had some thoughts about the direction of the story, it looks like he may not exactly be able to helm the project as HitFix seems to have discovered from multiple sources that Fox has been looking at different directors as recently as last week because it looks like Warner Bros has Singer deep in pre-production on Jack the Giant Killer and he will have to shoot that project first.

Indie Trailer Sunday: Korea's The Good, The Bad, The Weird
Today's trailer is for Kim Ji-woon's Korean action extravaganza The Good, The Bad, The Weird starring Song Kang-ho (The Host), Lee Byung-hun (G.I. Joe), and Jung Woo-sung (The Restless). Although this first played at film festivals two years ago, and already hit DVD in many countries, it's just barely getting to US theaters this year. The Good, The Bad, The Weird is one of my favorite action-western-comedies that's a lot of fun. I gave it a 9.5 out of 10 in my review and I'm considering seeing it again up on the big screen when it opens. Even if you've seen it (or own it on DVD already), this trailer is fun to watch it again, so check it out!
