Tim Burton's Frankenweenie in 3D to Start Production Soon

Frankenweenie

Way, way back in 2007 in the same exact story announcing that Tim Burton would be bringing us Alice in Wonderland in 3D, was news that Burton would also be turning early his short film Frankenweenie into a feature stop-motion animation project in 3D as well. For a while we didn't hear much about Frankenweenie, mainly because the focus was on all things Alice, but not anymore. We reported just last week that Burton may potentially direct an Addams Family movie in 3D, but his very next animated project may actually be Frankenweenie instead, or so says AICN, who also spoke with Disney producer Don Hahn about the project.

Update: Freida Pinto & Olivia Wilde Are NOT Cast in Bond 23

Freida Pinto & Olivia Wilde

Now this is definitely an interesting casting story. BangShowbiz through Yahoo UK is reporting that Freida Pinto, the Indian actress who starred in Slumdog Millionaire, has landed a role as one of the Bond Girls in the upcoming Bond 23 due in 2011. The last bit of news we reported on this sequel was that Oscar winning director Sam Mendes was on-board to at least "consult" and hopefully direct this newest Bond movie, but nothing was moving forward until MGM found a buyer. On top of the Pinto news, the article also mentions that Tron Legacy actress Olivia Wilde "has been approached" to play a role as another Bond girl as well.

Official Full-Length Trailer for Luc Besson's Adèle Blanc-Sec

Adèle Blanc-Sec Trailer

We're one of the few sites that has been consistently featuring the teasers and photos for Les Aventures Extraordinaires d'Adèle Blanc-Sec, the French period action-adventure movie from Luc Besson. One reason is that I'm a big Luc Besson fan and love almost all of his work. The other reason is that this actually looks awesome, like a big budget Indiana Jones-style adventure with a female lead set in France, simple as that. Twitch (via SlashFilm) just discovered that the first full-length trailer has debuted online (via Yahoo France) and can be seen below. It's still in French (no subtitles), but it looks fantastic. Check it out below!

Joss Whedon's Dr. Horrible Might Get a Feature Film Sequel?

Dr. Horrible

If you're a Joss Whedon fan then I'm sure, without a doubt, you saw Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, the musical superhero comedy that debuted online a few years ago. It was only 42-minutes long and starred Nathan Fillion, Felicia Day, and Neil Patrick Harris, but the fans still turned out and made it a big success. Word is there's now a sequel in development that may actually become a feature film. MTV talked with Neil Patrick Harris recently about the rumors of this upcoming Dr. Horrible sequel. NPH says, "Apparently they're making a Dr. Horrible sequel, a feature film I hope... I hope they cast me in it... We'll see." We will!

Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer May Direct '30 Minutes or Less'

Ruben Fleischer

Those of you that saw Zombieland last year know how great of a movie it truly is and what kind of awesome career director Ruben Fleischer (seen above) has ahead of him. Fleischer has been receiving plenty of big offers in Hollywood since the movie opened last year, but hasn't actually accepted any of them. He was even offered Mission: Impossible 4, according to the LA Times' 24 Frames, but declined that, too. So what project is he interested in besides Zombieland 2? Apparently he's into another comedy called 30 Minutes or Less, with Danny McBride currently attached to star, in development at Media Rights Capital for the time being.

Chris Evans Has Been 'Offered' the Role of Captain America!

Chris Evans

I'm tired of reporting on this endless speculative game of who may be playing Captain America. Just pick a damn actor already, stop messing with us Marvel! Not that this is casting confirmation, but Heat Vision is now reporting that Chris Evans has been "offered" the big role. So what does this mean? Well, pretty much nothing, because Evans has to first accept it and deals have to be made, but it sounds like Channing Tatum may have passed on the role if Evans has been offered it instead. Earlier today it was reported that the new "shortlist" for Cap had been trimmed down to three actors: Evans, Tatum, and Gossip Girl's Sebastian Stan.

Watch Online: Spike Jonze's Wonderful Short Film 'I'm Here'

Spike Jonze's I'm Here

Remember that Spike Jonze directed short film that all of us were raving about from Sundance this year? Well, after a fairly short wait the film has arrived online in its entirety for your viewing pleasure. Titled I'm Here, the short is about two robots who fall in love, set in a world a bit different from our own. It's kind of hard to describe, but it's a wonderful film, one of the few shorts I've ever felt compelled by enough to feature on the site. Absolut (who financed the film) has put a cap on how many people can watch it, so you'll have to hit the official website at the right to see it, but I highly suggest checking it out. It truly is an amazing short!

All of Warner Brothers' Tentpole Movies Will Be Shown in 3D

Warner Brothers in 3D!

Yesterday at the ShoWest industry convention, Warner Brothers put on quite the show with their annual presentation looking at their line-up for this year. We got to see some Clash of the Titans 3D footage (which looked pretty bad because it was converted in post) and new footage from Chris Nolan's Inception and the final two Harry Potter movies. The presentation was moderated by Warner Bros President Alan Horn, one of my favorite execs, who revealed that all of their upcoming tentpole movies would be in 3D. This isn't that surprising considering we recently learned that five of their big upcoming movies would be presented in 3D.

First Official Teaser for DreamWorks Animation's Megamind

Megamind Teaser

DreamWorks Animation has debuted a short 45-second teaser trailer for their next new film Megamind, formerly known as Oobermind and Master Mind before that. Due out in November of this year, Megamind features the voice talents of Will Ferrell (as Megamind), Brad Pitt (as Metro Man), Tina Fey and Jonah Hill. Similar to Universal's Despicable Me, the focus is not on the hero this time, but on the villain, who is voiced by Ferrell and looks like a blue-skinned idiot. This looks really awful. I don't like the voices, the characters, or the trailer at all. But at least it's a bit better than the Despicable Me trailers, I guess. Check it out below.

Stan Winston's Speed Demon Pitch Optioned by Paradox Ent

Speed Demon

Even though the legendary Stan Winston passed away last year, his legacy still lives on, not only in all of his special effects work, but in a project called Speed Demon. Variety reports that Paradox Entertainment, one of the production companies working on Conan, has optioned the Speed Demon action-horror pitch that was co-developed by Stan Winston and Peter Winther, who will direct the film. The project is described as a supernatural action flick about an "underworld enforcer," who while hunting a small-time crook on a desert highway discovers that he is also being tracked by a mysterious, terrifying creature. This could be badass!

Christoph Waltz Set to Become a Director with 'Up and Away'

Christoph Waltz

When I interviewed Oscar winner Christoph Waltz last year, I learned that he's got a lot of interests, from music to film, but I never knew that he wanted to direct. 24 Frames is reporting that Waltz is set to make his directorial debut on a film called Up and Away. Thankfully it's not a Hollywood production, but it'll be a German-language film produced by Fox International. Even more odd is that it will be romantic comedy set in and around a dating game show. Through a series of events, the woman who runs and hosts the show must confront her feelings about romance, which place more emphasis on its marketability than emotion.
