Cameron Diaz and Benicio Del Toro Cast in 'An Ex To Grind'
In a romantic comedy, the pairing of your leading couple is usually very integral to gaining interest in the old trick of funny romance. There's a strange, and hopefully interesting pairing on the horizon as Deadline reports Fox has picked up rights to Jane Heller's novel An Ex To Grind with Cameron Diaz and Benicio Del Toro being attached as part of the deal. The story has Del Toro as a star athlete who for years supports the dreams of his waitress wife (Diaz), but his career is cut short by injury, turning him into a beer-swilling couch potato while she becomes a big success in business. This obviously messes with their relationship.

Sam Jackson: Nick Fury Not in Thor, Avengers Shoots February
After hearing that Joss Whedon will be directing The Avengers (not to mention re-writing the script), it would appear that the planets are aligning and Marvel's plan for an ensemble superhero movie is coming together. One of the driving forces, at least on-screen, is S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Nick Fury as he tries to bring together The Avengers. Collider and IESB both attended a roundtable interview with the man behind the eye-patched badass, Samuel L. Jackson, who revealed that he will not be appearing in Thor, but did say that The Avengers is supposed to start shooting in February and is as much his movie as any other heroes.

Watch This: First Trailer for 'Get Low' Starring Robert Duvall
Sony Pictures Classics has debuted the first official trailer for Aaron Schneider's Get Low starring Robert Duvall, Bill Murray, Lucas Black and Sissy Spacek. This period flick is some kind of half-comedy, half-drama about a hermit who hosts his own funeral "party" before he's even dead. This trailer isn't that great (it's too cheery), but I can assure you it's a fantastic film. I saw it in Toronto and loved it (9 out of 10 in my review) and then Brandon saw it at Sundance and also loved it (8 out of 10 in his review). It does have a great story, but it also has great performances (Duvall could get an Oscar) and great cinematography, too. Check it out!

MGM's Troubles Means James Bond 23 is Delayed Indefinitely
It looks like The Hobbit isn't the only production being affected by the uncertain future of MGM and it's financial instability, as EON Productions, one company behind the James Bond franchise announced in a press release today that they have suspended development on the next installment of the secret agent franchise starring Daniel Craig which was going to be released sometime in 2011 or 2012. This comes only a few months after hearing that development would at least be slowed, but now it looks like it will come to a complete halt. Can't somebody pick up the pieces of this legendary studio that's turned all Humpty Dumpty?

Sacha Baron Cohen Offered Lead in 'Secret Life of Walter Mitty'
For 16 years there have been all sorts of "developments" on The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, the remake of the 1947 Danny Kaye comedy of the same name that was loosely based on a short story by James Thurber. Back in 1994 the project had Jim Carrey attached to star with Steven Spielberg set to direct, but the most recent iteration (which was preceded with tons of re-writes from writers like Zach Helm, Jay Kogen, Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant) had Mike Myers attached with Mean Girls director Mark Waters at the helm. But now Pajiba reports Myers is no longer involved and an offer is out to Sacha Baron Cohen to lead the film.

Garrett Heldund Joins Adaptation of Kerouac's 'On the Road'
Poised to make some serious waves later this year as Sam Flynn in Tron Legacy (watch the trailer), actor Garrett Hedlund is in talks to star in an adaptation of On the Road, the Jack Kerouac novel of the same name, to be directed by Walter Salles (The Motorcycle Diaries). This is a novel that has been gestating as far back as the late 70's when none other than Francis Ford Coppola had optioned the book. An adaptation from Salles has been talked about since back in 2005 when the director was planning to re-team with The Motorcycle Diaries screenwriter Jose Rivera, but Hedlund's casting is the first real development since then.

Casting Tidbits: Zooey Deschanel, Woody Harrelson, and More
That's no moon. It's Casting Tidbits. First up, Production Weekly says via Twitter that Zooey Deschanel is in talks to take the lead in Enchantress of Numbers, a period drama from director Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy) which will focus on the life of Ada Lovelace, a wholly interesting and brilliant English woman who is often regarded as the world's first computer programmer because of her work on Charles Babbage's early mechanical general-purpose computer, the analytical engine. No word on just how much of Lovelace's life the film will cover, but it sounds like this could be an interesting historical drama. Read on!

Rutger Hauer Starring in a Full 'Hobo With a Shotgun' Movie
Wait, what? There's a full-length Hobo With a Shotgun movie in the works?! Yep, there definitely is, and it actually starts shooting up in Halifax, Nova Scotia this very week. For those who don't know, Hobo With a Shotgun was originally the "fake" trailer that won the best Grindhouse trailer award when that movie was released a few years back. It was directed by Nova Scotia native Jason Eisener who also happens to be the guy who brought us the brilliant Treevenge short. A full-length feature version of Hobo is now in production up in Canada and even has an awesome actor to play the hobo - Rutger Hauer. Now that is great casting.

Steve Buscemi Helming Oren Moverman's Adaptation of 'Queer'
Now this is an interesting story. At the Sarasota Film Festival last week, Steve Buscemi lead a live stage reading of the script for his new project Queer, written by The Messenger director Oren Moverman based on the William S. Burroughs novel. The Sarasota Herald-Tribune (via The Playlist) attended the event and provides a recap of the night. Apparently Buscemi is to direct the film, his fifth feature, and brought Stanley Tucci, Ben Foster, John Ventimiglia (The Funeral) and Lisa Joyce (The Messenger) in to read the script for the audience, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're cast in this, although he'll probably consider them.

Indie Trailer Sunday: Takeshi Kitano's Cannes Film 'Outrage'
Last week it was announced that Takeshi Kitano's 15th film, Outrage, will be premiering at the Cannes Film Festival next month. It just so happens that days before that announcement, our friends at Twitch had discovered that an official Japanese trailer for the film was available online. Unfortunately it is not subtitled, so you'll have to just watch for the drama unless you can speak Japanese. This is Kitano's return to gangster films and it looks frickin' badass. I'm pretty damn excited to see this in Cannes, it could be an intense film to watch. Lots of killing, lots of violence, and lots of Japanese Yakuza. I love that shot at the end, too. Enjoy!

Peter Jackson Says 'The Hobbit' Still Waiting for the Greenlight
I feel like every few weeks we write another story about The Hobbit being either delayed, or still on track for 2011, or something like that. It's always either ready to go sometime this year or suddenly delayed, but apparently none of this is true, at all. Peter Jackson spoke recently with Moviefone in what has become the story of this weekend because he gives them the definitive update on The Hobbit and its current status. Basically, they still haven't been given the greenlight because they're still waiting for MGM and finishing budgeting. Who knows how long that will take, so although they've turned in a script, they're still waiting.

Incredible Teaser for Chinese Earthquake Movie 'Aftershocks'
I'm pretty damn sure no one has heard of this film before today, but you won't forget about it after watching this trailer. Twitch first discovered this extraordinary teaser trailer for a disaster film called Aftershocks coming out of China about the devastating 1976 Tangshan Earthquake that killed over 240,000 people. This trailer reminds me of Schindler's List with the little girl and the way it uses the red to accent the terror and chaos of the situation. I would say this is China's big disaster film in response to 2012, but since this is about an event that already happened, it's very different and much more emotional. Check out the teaser below.
