Check These Out: Four Sleek New Jonah Hex Character Poster

Jonah Hex Posters

Although we've seen plenty of posters before and even the trailer, I'm still featuring these four new character posters for Jonah Hex because I think they look awesome and we actually get a good look at the characters that John Malkovich and Michael Fassbender play. Both are great actors and I can't wait to see the devilish characters they play in this (since they're villain and henchman, respectively). They come from MySpace and are simply character versions of the official poster released back in April. Although everyone seemed to hate the trailer, I'm still pretty excited for this, but maybe that's just me. Check out all of the new posters below!

Veteran Writer Alvin Sargent Polishing the Spider-Man Reboot

Alvin Sargent

It must be a good week for news focusing on big name screenwriters doing "punch-ups" on major projects. Just yesterday we heard about Charlie Kaufman spending a couple weeks on Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom, and now Heat Vision is back with yet another punch-up scoop as they report veteran screenwriter Alvin Sargent (Ordinary People) is putting some finishing touches on the screenplay, written by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) for Marc Webb's reboot of Sony's Spider-Man franchise. Sargent has been involved with all of the past Spider-Man films and is apparently Sony's "go-to-guy for punching up weighty scenes."

Sound Off: Ridley Scott's Robin Hood - What Did You Think?

Ridley Scott's Robin Hood

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? The latest epic action/adventure movie from Ridley Scott arrives in theaters today and it revisits a classic medieval hero we're all very familiar with. So how is Ridley Scott's Robin Hood? Is it better or worse than his other big epics like Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven? How does it compare to the other great Robin Hood movies of past, both comedy (Mel Brooks) and serious (Errol Flynn, Kevin Costner)? How is Russell Crowe in yet another new Ridley Scott movie? Best or worst movie of the summer? If you've seen it, leave a comment and let us know what you thought of Robin Hood!

Watch This: Tearjerker Charlie St. Cloud Trailer with Zac Efron

Charlie St. Cloud Trailer

Universal has debuted the official trailer for Charlie St. Cloud, an adaptation of the beloved novel "The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud" written by Ben Sherwood, on Apple today. The movie stars Zac Efron as a young man who is overcome with grief by the death of his younger brother. For those of you who haven't read the book, I don't want to spoil the rest of the story, so check out the trailer. This kind of reminds me of a Nicholas Sparks movie, with all the tearjerking sadness yet pretty boy charm of the lead actor. And to be honest, it doesn't look that bad, I'll probably be checking it out. If you're interested, you can find it below.

On top of some minor details on their characters, keep on reading for the 2011 summer blockbuster's official synopsis.

Brad Anderson Helming an Amnesiac Serial Killer Film 'Jack'

Brad Anderson

After directing a few unique psychological thrillers like The Machinist and Transsiberian, filmmaker Brad Anderson is continuing his passion for interesting dark mysteries as Variety reports he'll next direct Jack, a script written by David Venable about a serial killer with amnesia who falls in love with his doctor as his memories begin to surface, forcing him to decide whether to start with a clean slate, or give in to his killer instincts. Memory loss is something Anderson has toyed with before in the mystery surrounding Christian Bale in The Machinist, but the serial killer angle lends a new twist to what feels like a familiar plot device.

Legendary Oceanographer Jacques Cousteau Getting 3D Biopic

Jacques Cousteau

While some icons of history and culture are in-demand for big screen stories that develop into dueling biopics (like the recent spawning of two Marilyn Monroe projects), some life stories have gone untold cinematically. One such story is now in the works for a big screen treatment as Variety reports a French production company (Pan Europeene) is developing a 3-D biopic of the famous French oceanographer Jacques-Yves Cousteau. Laurent Turner is adapting the script from Capitaine de la Calypso, a French language biography penned by fellow explorer Albert Falco, who worked alongside Cousteau for 40 years.

First Look: Early Promo Art for David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis

Cosmopolis

No more than two days after it was announced, in Cannes, that both Colin Farrell and Marion Cotillard would be starring in the upcoming David Cronenberg film Cosmopolis, this brand new piece of promo art appeared in the latest daily festival edition of Variety. The two-page spread shows the limo that Farrell rides in as the multi-millionaire asset manager who crosses the whole of Manhattan in that limo just for a haircut. There's not much to this yet because it hasn't started shooting (and won't until March 2011 after Cronenberg finishes A Dangerous Method) but it's still pretty damn cool to see. I just totally love the sleek blue design.

Official Cannes Promo Poster for John Landis' 'Burke & Hare'

Burke & Hare Promo

Found in the pages of an industry magazine here in Cannes (via SlashFilm) is this first promotional poster for John Landis' first feature film in over 10 years - Burke & Hare. Just in case you forgot (but how could you!?) this film stars Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Isla Fisher, Tim Curry, Tom Wilkinson, Stephen Merchant, and many more British actors, and is a period dark comedy about two murderers who sell corpses to the local medical college. This is probably just an early bit of art they whipped up, but I love seeing something for this already, just because I'm so excited to see Landis direct again. Check out the promo poster below!

Sam Worthington Signs for Allan Quatermain Sci-Fi Adventure

Sam Worthington

While everyone seems to be up in arms about the 3-D craze that is being exploited by every single studio in Hollywood, I'm even more sick of Sam Worthington being offered or attached to nearly every project under the sun. The agitation continues as Heat Vision reports that the actor will both star in and produce a science fiction take on classic literary hero Allan Quatermain, the protagonist in H. Rider Haggard's 1885 novel King Solomon's Mines. Add this to Worthington's growing list of projects also including comic book adaptation Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future, Alex Proyas' Dracula Year Zero, and the thriller The Fields.

David Gordon Green Rewriting Battling Boy, Finds New Project

David Gordon Green

Though the director mostly worked on heavy independent dramas like Snow Angels and All the Real Girls prior to directing the 2008 action comedy Pineapple Express, director David Gordon Green has quickly become quite the comedic commodity by working alongside friends and collaborators Danny McBride and Jody Hill. Though he's still got another comedy (Your Highness) on the way with McBride, it looks like he is slowly but surely venturing into other genres. In addition to his Suspiria remake which is still in the works, THR reports Green is developing a comedic thriller and a graphic novel adaptation as future projects.

Charlie Kaufman Touches Up the Script for Kung Fu Panda 2

Charlie Kaufman / Kung Fu Panda

Though credit is usually clearly given to the screenwriters most prominently responsible for the film's script, there's usually a few big name writers who spend a short time with a script giving it final touch ups before calling it complete. Such is the case with DreamWorks Animation's big upcoming sequel Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom, the follow-up to the action comedy starring Jack Black in animated clothes. In the case of this sequel's script polishing, Heat Vision reports the brilliant screenwriter Charlie Kaufman made a two week pass at the animated sequel's screenplay. This will make things quite interesting, to say the least.
