Alan Tudyk Joins Transformers 3, LaBeouf Comments on TF2
Though there's a large majority that think Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen got a little too convoluted to be as enjoyable a blockbuster as Michael Bay's first film with the giant robots, plenty of new cast members like John Malkovich, and most recently Patrick Dempsey, have been added to Transformers 3. Now The Wrap reports Alan Tudyk (Firefly, the original Death at a Funeral) has also joined the cast. And for those worried that the third film is just going to be completely out of control, Shia LaBeouf has conceded that the second film got out of control, but his hype of Transformers 3 seems to contradict his views. Sam Jackson Says a S.H.I.E.L.D. Movie Coming After Avengers?
It is? The big Marvel news of the day seems to be this little quote from an interview that RadioBigBoy (via The Playlist) recently had with Samuel L. Jackson, better known as Nick Fury in the cinematic Marvel Universe. In the interview, Jackson states: "The Avengers should start shooting some time next year, and then some time after that there'll be a big S.H.I.E.L.D. movie." Whoa, this brings up plenty of questions. First, does he mean a Nick Fury movie, because isn't The Avengers a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie as is? Second, if it's a spin-off, will they bring in other secondary S.H.I.E.L.D. members who aren't big superheroes to fill it up?

Cannes Review: Gareth Edwards' Phenomenal Sci-Fi 'Monsters'
First things first, this isn't an official Cannes film, it is not part of any official line-up, it was a film showing in the Cannes Market. That said, I'm extremely glad I chose to seek out and see Gareth Edwards' Monsters, an incredibly low budget sci-fi film that is truly one of the best indie sci-fi films I've seen recently, and I am doing my best not to overexaggerate on this film. But I truly did love Monsters, through and through, and I would honestly call it a nearly flawless film, from script to acting to directing to score to cinematography. It is that phenomenal and I suggest everyone do their best to seek out this sci-fi film out as soon as they can.

Wait - There IS Another New Rambo Movie Coming in 2011?
Wait, wait, wait... what the heck is going on here? If you remember, a few weeks ago we reported a big story about Sylvester Stallone himself saying, to Empire magazine, that: "I think Rambo's pretty well done. I don't think there'll be any more. I'm about 99% sure." Well, maybe that 1% slipped through, as I ventured through the Cannes Marketplace showfloor earlier today with Peter from SlashFilm and we picked up a new promotional flyer (and saw a poster on their wall) at the Nu Image / Millennium Films booth for Rambo V (see above). It doesn't say anything except "Coming 2011" on the back. So is it actually happening anyway?

Italian Director Dario Argento Making Dracula in 3D Next Year
Legendary Italian horror filmmaker Dario Argento will be trying his hand at Dracula next. Announced at Cannes today, as mentioned briefly in a Tweet (via Bloody-Disgusting), Argento will start filming Dracula in 3D in Italy in January. The film will have a period setting and apparently be quite realistic, as that poster above (with the very realistic-looking bat) is the actual early promo poster for this project as first shown on ShockTillYouDrop. They also mention the synopsis for this Dracula project says it's "a faithful translation of the Bram Stoker novel." However, we don't know too much else about Argento's Dracula just yet. Read on!

Naomi Watts to Play Marilyn Monroe in Adaptation of 'Blonde'
Back in December we heard about a film called My Week with Marilyn, which isn't so much a biopic of the legendary Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe, but rather a focus on a very short amount of time she spent in London while filming Laurence Olivier's The Prince and the Showgirl in 1957, as told in Colin Clark's book. However, it looks like a more definitive biopic about the late actress is on the horizon as ScreenDaily is now reporting Naomi Watts is set to play the blonde starlet in an Andrew Domink (of The Assassination of Jesse James) directed adaptation of a fake memoir (we'll explain more below) appropriately titled Blonde.

Fox Searchlight Picks Up Snow Flower and the Secret Fan Film
I usually take notice when Fox Searchlight, one of my all-time favorite "indie" distributors, acquires a new film, and today they just picked up one that I haven't actually ever heard of before. Searchlight has formally announced that they've acquired Chinese director Wayne Wang's Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, an adaptation of Lisa See's bestselling novel of the same name. The film stars Gianna Jun and Li Bing Bing and is a parallel love story film, which timelines in both contemporary Shanghai and 19th Century China. I don't know that much about it, but I trust that the people at Searchlight know a fantastic film when they see one.

Watch This: New US Trailer for John Lennon Film 'Nowhere Boy'
The Weinstein Company has debuted this brand new US trailer for Sam Taylor-Wood's Nowhere Boy, the fantastic film telling the "untold" story of how John Lennon and Paul McCartney came together as teenagers to start the legendary band The Beatles. Thinking back to Sundance, where I first saw this (read my review), it's definitely one film that has stuck with me and I will definitely be seeing it again. It's a great film directed by a great up-and-coming filmmaker and starring some talented actors, including Aaron Johnson (from Kick-Ass) as John Lennon and Thomas Sangster (from Love Actually) as Paul McCartney. Watch below!

Michael Pena and Nick Swardson Joining '30 Minutes or Less'
Though we're still waiting for another lead role to be cast alongside Aziz Ansari for Ruben Fleischer's action comedy 30 Minutes or Less, the supporting cast is continuing to fill out as THR reports Michael Pena (Crash, Observe and Report) and Nick Swardson (Blades of Glory, "Reno 911!") have joined the cast. The two join Danny McBride in a couple of small but key roles. While McBride is a thug looking to score some money, Swardson will play his best friend with Pena plays a tattoo riddled assassin in the story of a history teacher (Ansari) and a pizza-delivery man who're forced to rob a bank when one is strapped to a bomb vest.

First Official Trailer for Will Gluck's 'Easy A' with Emma Stone
Screen Gems has finally debuted a full trailer for a film we've seen on the release schedule for a while called Easy A, another high school comedy starring the adorable Emma Stone as well as Amanda Bynes, Stanley Tucci, Cam Gigandet, Lisa Kudrow, and many others. Although I had a little hope for this (because I'm head over heels for Emma Stone), this really looks pretty bad, like one of those terrible high school comedies you want to stay as far away from as humanly possible. Well, maybe not that bad, but it just seems pretty bland and boring and just way too cheesy for me. Should've expected that from the guy responsible for Fired Up!

A Roller Coaster Tycoon Movie Rattles Toward the Big Screen
It's been proven time and time again that video games have had more than a few problems translating their success to their respective film adaptations. But rather than going after the action adventure kind of games that keep hitting the big screen, Sony Pictures Animation is takingĀ a different route by picking up the rights to Atari's video game series Roller Coaster Tycoon for a feature film adaptation. Development is being headed by Harald Zwart, who recently directed The Karate Kid remake for Sony, and there's a chance he might even direct. What's next, a movie centered around that old party trivia game You Don't Know Jack?

Casting Bonanza: Jamie Foxx, Emily Blunt, Kurt Russell & More
Honey, I blew up the Casting Tidbits! First up, continuing the onslaught of casting news for Seth Gordon's comedy Horrible Bosses, THR has another name to toss into the ring as they've discovered Jamie Foxx has signed on to star. But rather than playing one of the bosses or the remaining murder plotting employees alongside Jason Bateman & Charlie Day, the actor will instead be playing a scam artist named Motherfucker Jones who offers murder advice to the three pals. Apparently the character's original name was even more jarring (probably something with the N-word), but even this new name might change in the end. Read on!
